Why do we look totally lost and end up passing backwards ending up with our keeper smashing it forward in hope? Why not do that in the first place going forwards towards their area?

We had a free kick about the 70th minute about 40 yds from their goal.
Instead of crossing it into the box we did a short free kick then lost position.

Pure clueless.

And all the throw ins go backwards.

The new Manager has to totally change the tactics.

All free kicks have to be taken quickly and passed no further than 10 yards, it's in the coaching manuals dontcha know.

The only reference I know about that is that the defending team must be 10 yards away from the ball when the kick is taken.

Possession of the ball has become much more important than attacking in today's matches. Going forward risks losing precious possession.

I haven't got any coaching badges but I reckon if you launch the ball into the opposition box with your big men up there you might score a goal, if you tippy tap around the middle of the park you definitely won't score a goal but may lose possession closer to your own goal or end up passing back to the keeper who then launches it forward but we haven't put anyone up. Or am I wrong?
