Any ideas about a keeper for next season I personally would go for out of contract York keeper Harrison Male Golden glove winner last two seasons. It would also be one up against Carlisle who are supposed to be interested.

I heard a rumour that we have signed Harrison Male. Don't know how true it is, but going by who we've signed so far I wouldn't bet against it.

It seems we have a very specific search criteria.

I’ve seen rumors elsewhere saying that Harrison Male was looking for £9k per week, which would be ridiculous, he wasn’t even the best keeper in the league last year. If that’s what he’s looking for, I hope we turn that down flat. We could get 3 very, very good National League players for that amount.

Kit Margetson from Swansea

That's a good one. Odd that York let him go if he was that good. Assume you mean the Rochdale goalie (Whatmuff), being the best but Man City want £10 million for him, only 18. Mane looked decent but it is easy in a vastly superior team.

I always like Johnson at Halifax but he seems to have been there for years and in no rush to leave.

Even if we did want to sign Johnson- reckon we may have burnt our bridges with Halifax. Don't think they'll be doing us any (more) favours, anytime soon!

Harrison Male has joined the PFA Pre season training camp for out of contract players.

I wonder if his wage demands are a bit too high at the moment?

that could be a very good reason he and others are all there .clubs are not stupid and everyone has a price they are actually worth even if its not in their head.

Kit Margetson is now the big GK rumour, 19 year old Swansea keeper (his Dad, Martyn is GK coach there, and for the Welsh national team).

He was at Connor’s Quay Nomads on loan last year, he was their first choice keeper as they finished 2nd in the Welsh Premier League.

The rumour is that Man United are on the verge of buying him from Swansea, and then he’s going straight out on loan to us.

We have signed a couple of stand in keepers judging by their height, Penman is 6 feet 6 inches and Bondo 6 feet 3 inches.

Very interesting. Just had a look about online, scouted by man utd, Liverpool and Crystal Palace. Swansea rejected a six figure bid from Brighton for him.

even with the reputation he seems to have got its still a big jump from the taff league to the efl so it seems idel for him to go to our level.

Whatmuff was younger and played most of Rochdale's games last season on loan from Man City, he's at Stockport this season.
Could be a good signing for us if it comes off.

I believe Whatmuff was a genuine one off with his ability at such a young age. Personally I think they would be better5 off getting a keeper with more experience. If going for a loan keeper would prefer Cartwright or Evans back at the club. If however Margetson does come to us then best of luck to him.

Most of the best keepers in our league last year were young lads on loan. Whatmuff, Ward, Curd, Terry all had great seasons.

Someone has made an AI photo of him with a pools scarf, so that is fake.

Nothing has been announced, but his move to Man Utd will need to be formally announced first.

Feels like the longer this goes on, the more likely it is to be a loan signing. Unless Pools are playing a waiting game with this Harrison Male character till he moderates his wage demands.

A lot of clubs have sorted out their goalkeeper situations in the last few weeks - you'd imagine his options are narrowing.

along with cartwright and evans. at least getting a decent one like that would put us on par with the rest and not having to say regularly that i wish so and so teams keeper was ours.

There appears to be a steady stream of good young keepers in this Country and most, I would imagine, are itching to get out, get some game time, and further their experience and development. It is one position I am confident of filling with loanees.

Whoever we get I hope it's someone who can play with the same attitude to crosses that Pickford did last night. A great display in commanding their area, not often seen nowadays with too many relying on defenders to win headers. Old school.

Margetson has now Joined Manchester United so we now wait to see if he will now join the Mighty HARTLEPOOL UNITED.

If that doesn't come off, the keeper situation is starting to look a bit silly. Can see A.Trialist featuring in goal at some point at Seaton on Saturday. He'll still be a better bet than Smith!

Evelyn Harrison would have been handy for the ground, living in Belk Street five minutes away, however the slight technical hitch of being deceased could pose one or two problems

My reading of it is that the Margetson loan has already been agreed in principle, and medicals done (which is why he recently became linked to Big Danny on Insta), but we need to wait for the Man Utd transfer to complete and be announced before we can do the same for his loan.

Margetson himself has announced that he is leaving Swansea, but he hasn’t announced a destination, and there has been no formal announcement yet from either Swansea or Man Utd.

Once Man Utd announce, i expect a picture of a chair to quickly appear on the Pools Twitter.

Remember we announced Cartwright the Thursday before the first game of the season last year. Hopefully it doesnt come to that, but he did ok. It could be that if it’s just waiting for paperwork, Margetson may already be training with us. He’s already announced that he’s leaving Swansea, so he needs to be doing his pre-season somewhere..

Cartwright was excellent, George Evans was pretty good, but the fact is relying on loan keepers last season didn't work out. Pools had to sign Hayes on a permanent in January and shipped him straight out at the end of the season.

I'd prefer the guy who played every minute of every NL game for Champions York City last season to any loan signing. Don't know what Pools are waiting for...

Stuff on HUFC's X account this evening confirming left sided central defender Liam Gibson has signed for Pools after being released by Harrogate - also mentioning that keeper Kit Margetson is a new arrival. Hopefully there'll be a proper announcement sometime soon.

Redcar keeper, he was at Pools, still only 21 years old, he had a record for the number of cleans on his first loan spell at Redcar, could he be an option as a back up keeper ?

never judge a keeper by the number of clean sheets they get. if you are at a top club winning anyone can keep a clean sheet when they have no shots of note to save. everyone does as its the easiest way to look at a keeper. with modern tech there must be a better way to judge a keeper.
