The Poolie Bunker

Just a thought, looking out to sea this morning…but if he intends to run the country on wind turbines and solar panels….in the event of any conflict, our power supply could be taken out quite easily …it all looks very fragile and easily accessible.

All our energy assets and communications assets are under threat and the real change is our aggressive Russian neighbour. That's been true for a while and not Millibands doing. We rely on France nuclear electricity but in a positive note we sold out spare energy to them.last week rather than buying it in.

The wind turbines in the sea are particularly vulnerable…but he’s ploughing on..a driven man is a dangerous man, even for their own good.
Wait till the bill for heat pump comes in.

I wrote to Millibonks on the 10th of this month, asking him why we are still getting charged VAT on our domestic fuel bills when he'd been quoted on the BBC webpage (2022) saying the following....

FROM BBC "Labour's shadow climate change secretary Ed Miliband told BBC News on 11 January: "What we're proposing is... a VAT cut to help all families and £200 in total off bills."

So far I've not had a reply.

Good luck with that Infidel At least you told the tosser.

Who will own these wind turbines and solar panels because if they’re owned by private companies we’ll be in the same old boat as we are now.

Nah a few larger power plants world be much more vulnerable.

Or those large power plants are easier to protect than loads of small ones spread widely around the UK and territorial waters.
Wind and solar will never be reliable enough for the countries needs. If the French and Norwegians cut our supplies we're f*cked.

What are you thinking? Airstrikes? Cyber? Sabotage? Knocking out loads of turbines would be a ball ache.

Do you not think our Nuclear sites are defended from attacks? None of the wind or solar farms will be. Relying on imported power is a big risk too.

Depends on the mode of attack like I said.

Cluster munitions: hundreds of tiny bomblets spread over a large area when the shell containing them explodes. They can be set to air burst. The individual turbines dont need to be destroyed, just damaging them will take them off grid. A very simple job, not a ball ache.

More important to me is who’s going to own them…not who destroys them.

Fair enough but the destruction bit is fun to imagine. Maybe I've played too many computer games.

Cut the cable which supplies the grid where it goes onshore or destroy the offshore control room with a missile.

Don't forget the Dolphins use them as large Slalom Poles.
So the animals right will protect them from future damage.

The thought of an aircaft like the A10 attacking could cause immense damage with a couple of passes alone with it’s rotatry cannon alone but at least there’d be no civilian casulaties.

Correct Jamie….that Russian ‘spy ship’ was a distraction on the news, the vessel doing the real surveying of our underwater pipe lines a communication cables will look like a fishing boat or innocent merchant vessel.

Did some research last night on these at least 50 % are wind farms and a huge percentage are foreign owned…..no matter what the energy is we’ll still be getting shafted on our bills.

All of the U.K. Utility Companies are foreign owned and currently all the windmills are built abroad. The £400 million factory being built at Redcar will make monopiles - the structures that support offshore wind turbines, an article says it will create 750 jobs.
Plans for a wind turbine blade plant on Teesside have been shelved after months of uncertainty meaning they will continue to built abroad.
If the government is so keen on green energy why aren’t they training people up in the manufacturing of green energy products ?

We’ll be paying through the nose for it whatever they do.

Who is to know that explosives etc haven’t already been placed on subsea pipelines and cabling, impossible and very expensive to carry out surveys on a regular basis.

Anyone without a tin hat.

Like the A10? SU-25 springs to mind.

and for something only the greenies and the virtue signallers actually want.

SU 25…the Lada of ground attack. ….looks like we’re safe after all.

aggressive Russian neighbour, you really believe that?

Ukraine doesn’t help Russia’s profile, profiles are decided by the ‘meeeeja’…and the media has decreed Russia bad, Ukraine good.
Not that I take much notice of the media, I draw my own conclusions.

exactly. i bet the russians also have not got a translation of woke or have an idiot like milleband running their country.

Russia is a clear threat and have recently damaged the Finnish cables. It's not just windfarms that are vulnerable , gas and oil fields are vulnerable as well.

And I see they are threatening the Sun's defence journalist.

SU 25…the Lada of ground attack

Never heard it described better!

The media just happen all agree with each other, both left and right and all of them in between... and two successive governments and loads of others worldwide. I might think that there is a teensy grain of truth that Putin is every inch the wrongun here.

Or... you could listen to Russian media. What could go wrong?

Oh he started it, but the election business in Ukraine prior to that may have had something to do with it.
The Russians have been paranoid about the west before Stalin’s time and the whole Warsaw Pact idea was using those countries as a buffer between Russia and the West so that any fighting would not take place on Russian soil again after WW2….
I suspect Putin considered Ukraine and Belarus his buffer zone….and now felt the west and it’s ways we’re getting closer.
He’s no military genius, as is obvious from the balls up he’s made of it, despite the huge advantages he has….a solution has to be found that’s binding as it’s looking more like a WW1 slogging match now.

As regards the SU 25….why are all the cockpit interiors in Russian military aircraft painted that awful 70’s Disco turquoise, with a hint of vomit ?

You mean Putin didn't like his puppet being ousted and Ukrainians being chuffed about it? Well he won't have liked that no. As soon as you start likening someone to Stalin then I think you've pretty much got the measure of them.

Echo..echo…echo…….

There's a new addition nowadays, an in car Sat nav taped to the instrument panel as otherwise they'd just have a paper map. Shit you not.

Renewables are all about fuel security.

We dont want to be exposed to Russia or the Arab nations.

It makes sense.

Reliable renewable may be the future but we're nowhere near there yet. Small nuclear plants are the intermediate solution, but you just know they'll be foreign owned so we won't be exposed to the Arabs or Russians, it'll be French, Chinese, etc that'll own them and set the prices.
Great British Energy quango will own nothing, control nothing, and cost us billions.

It's depressing isn't it. On the face of it it seems sensible but it's the ownership thing. Still, better France than Russia or China.

Yep all of these huge infrastructure projects that government want to move forward with but not with taxpayers money mostly privately funded. Just means higher bills for everyone while tax collected is squandered. Doesn't matter who's in power, they're all the same in thus respect.

When the harvest’s due, the wings are detachable and there’s a tow hook for the trailer…..

Derwent , are you able to check posts? I made one earlier which seems to have disappeared?

Was it a double post that disappeared Poolie 27.

Now I don't know that!

A ‘tractor’ with three wheels and two Soyuz/Tumansky R195 turbojets can get the crop to market quite quickly.

Running on distilled potatoes no doubt.

You know your ancient Soviet kit!

Aye, the ‘BIG’ service involves a full two coats of paint..er, …that’s it.
