Shocking really, managers aren't given enough time these days, Yes with the money invested they were expected to be in the top 2 but still long way to go..... Very baffling sctatchinghead

Things like this make me wonder if managers knowing instants results are expected is contributing to the reduced number of young players developing.

another pay off for sven.

He must be loaded, millions a year from england and then a pay off, man city pay off and now leicester pay off.

The money spent on sacking him could be spent on running a small country.

Not saying i agree he should be sacked, just think he's a massivly over rated manager.

don't agree. thought he was sacked too soon by england. he got us playing a similar continental style to the teams who were consistently beating us in major tournaments. as for this latest sacking, its just a fuckin farce.

dont agree

the football when he was in charge was negative and dull.

Take a 1-0 lead then sit on it, sit on it, sit on it.

He played heskey left wing!

Portugal 2004 was a great do. I had a fantastic time but not because of the fotty which was dire. Nevertheless I did meet a young Portuguese woman - Goretti. Top tip - learn the language. Or at least one that they can understand.

Along for the ride was Ozzy (he of the Youtube stuff), Glenn Wilson, Formerly of Raby Gardens and a couple of Nottingham based lads. Great fun and games (but enough of young Goreti !!)

I had the misfortune of sitting in the stadium with her for the game against Portugal when Beckham did his Jonny Wilkinson impression.

Good fun after the game though; several hundred England fans in Rossio square singing (to the tune of Deliah)

Why why why, Beckham.
Why why why, Beckham.
Look before, you put the ball down on the floor.
Oh please David Beckham, for f*** sake don't take any more.

Onto Germany 2002. Heidleburg was nice, good fun in Stuttgart. Nuf said!

He has the beat record of any England manager excluding Alf Ramsey, we finished top of every qualifying group he managed us in, had the highest average points average England have ever had at the group stages of major tournaments, and in the period of 2002-2006 only England and Brazil reached the last eight of every major tournament they played in.

3 competitive defeats in 5 years (excluding pens) isn't bad going, the only reason people perceive that he didn't do a good job is because of arrogance in thinking we have better players than we actually have and have some sort of divine right to win the World Cup. Oh and our moronic, counter productive press who are more of a hinderance than a help to our national teams in several sports not just football.

That is a really good point - managers are lucky to get 2 years in a job these days, they may go to a club with a 3 or 4 year plan but rarely get the opportunity to see it out....

Probably, and why would you as a football manager give 2 hoots about your clubs youth development when you are expected to bring success in a year or two. Would you risk an untried 17,18, 19 year old from your in house set up or bring in a lad in his 20's who has been released by a bigger club, or buy a foreign player who is 50% of the price of a player of a similar quality from the other end of the UK.
