I got sent this question to the Monkey Business email account. Anyone care to provide an answer? I'm sure this has been debated a few times before:

"Hi,
I'm writing a book about football chants at the moment - please could you give me an explanation on the origins of the 'Two Little Boys' song that Hartlepool United sing?

I just need to know how long your fans have sung it for and why/how did it begin?"

Not sure but me and Yloop and couple of mates gave a great rendition of this at mates wedding at the weekends.

I'm sure its to do with the lads who used the drink in the Greensides in the 70s, 80s.
One of them sits with us in the CK stand, another is known as the crow and is known to travel to every away game and report back on another pools website.

It was being sung on the terraces from the early 1970s and at a home game in January 1972 a real kangaroo performed a dance routine to the chorus at half time.

Some years later a few drunken Pools fans down one of the working mens clubs decided to sing it when they were lashed up at a do and since then they've claimed credit for it being introduced as a Pools song and wiped the kangaroo performance from their memory.

First time I ever remember signing it was away at Darlo one year in my youth, think it was the match Mickey Brown scored.

Ralf has nailed pretty much.

The fact that Frankie claims this as fact should be proof to any observer that it cannot be true. The two crucial areas of Frankie being in a licensed establishment and remembering anything are mutually exclusive.
