Sorry to turn into PoK but this is off the BBC:
Police hurt in 'sustained' attackTwo Lancashire police officers have been injured in a "sustained" attack on them by about 10 people.
The female sergeant and male Pc were kicked and punched as they tried to make an arrest in Skelmersdale, near Liverpool, at 0020 BST on Saturday.
The five-minute assault began after they had approached a group who were arguing in the street, police said.
They suffered facial injuries from kicks and punches and have been sent home to recover.
'Worse for wear'
Insp Peter Upton said: "Two uniformed police officers came across a group of about 10 people, both males and females,
who were involved in a heated and loud exchange of words.
"The officers tried to arrest one of the males and during the struggle both officers were set on by the group and both officers received quite severe injuries to their faces from kicks and punches.
"The sustained attack went on for about five minutes and both officers are now off duty and the worse for wear for their experience."
Police have urged any witnesses to the attack to contact them.
Since when has having an argument been an arrestable offence??
