thought fevs lived in hull or around there. just cannot see him being with the club next season as he must have some pride being ratd not good enough for a manager but fine in a small coaching role. anything above could see him being replaced by our new manager.

He does live in Hull

I’d rather we aim for the short term goal back to the EFL…..this league is like Gods’ waiting room, the bottleneck in the entire system.

Id accept play off failure next season.
We can't take it any longer than that.

Sorry for the lack of Ambition

It's strange that whilst caretaker and excluding Cup/Trophy games we looked as if we had a squad and manager capable of forcing a way into the play offs, perhaps with an astute signing or two. Since the permanent appointment the wheels effectively came off as seemingly the shackles were applied. What happened to change things after the permanent appointment?

FFS PTID- just let it go - Fev's not going to be in charge next season. Yes he MAY be around as part of the coaching set up, but there's no point in continuing to rake over the same coals.

Let's see who is appointed as 1st team manager for next season, and let them decide how or if they'll choose to use his knowledge of the club.
IF it's Tony Mowbray, he'll obviously have Mark Venus in toe, though might want to retain him in some coaching capacity.
IF it's Rob Elliott, Phil Parkinson (Alty) or Trigger Clarke then they might deploy him differently.
Also you can have more than one coach- the likes of Stockport and Wrexham who have had takeovers in recent years have quite a large coaching staff, in comparison to the current Pools set up.

Featherstone is history, but I’d have no problem with him in some lesser coaching role, but that’s for the owners to decide, they pay the bills.

Mr Kettering you do realise this thread title is about NF being let go, so what's wrong with my comments about NF on this thread?

but would he accept that. he sounds a bit of a bitter man now in interviews due to his expectations being higher than what the club should be offering him. in hindsight he should have been given the caretaker role to the end of the season but no more.

Agree, something changed when he was appointed permanently imo, was it the targets or expectations set by the hierarchy within the club, the players, or NF himself? It did seem to me that as caretaker he was growing into the role, getting decent results, but we also seemed to be playing progressively more expansive football which although wasn't ultra exciting it was way better to watch than the last 3 or months have been.
The Pools job is always going to be a tough task for any manager let alone a rookie.

Bitter what do you mean bitter!

All he said was he,s been the best manager in the last 12 years apart from DC, And when he took over we were bottom and shite. (we were 4 points from the POffs at the time i believe)

And he has been given the elbow cause the OUTSIDE COMPANY needed to be seen making changes.

Bitter never

It needed someone from the outside to break up this cartel at pools,Thank god.
Don,t think he should be employed by the club at all.

I think Featherstone might be holding back on his comments, if he says too much he could lose his job, remember Hughes going public and IOR sacked him.

you and everyone else do not need to come out with comments that would upset somebody further up the ladder. wishing somebody a happy birthday can feel like an insult if you say it a certain way. lets say i have had enough preactise doing it.

Only he can answer as to what he would or would not accept. There are other influences that could come into play...like has he got other offers to compare. Presumably he has a family to feed, home to finance etc etc.
None of us know what he has on the table to choose from.

Listening on Tees he said he is disappointed that he didn’t get the chance to bring in his own players and play his style of football ?

The thing is though, who' will be bringing in the players this time? The Joe Monks era brought in some decent players but plenty of dross too. Is Monks going too, will the new manager do the recruitment or at least have a hand in it, or will Bromby and their staff do it?
And let's be fair we've seen Fevs style of play and it's not pretty, in fact it's almost as bad as Sarlls was. And yes he had options to go 2 up front but rarely tried it and soon reverted back to the "park the bus" option.
I believe his league win ratio is 40%, lower than Kevin Phillips I believe, but he's been in charge for what are arguably our worst results in history - home losses to Gainsborough and Anstey, and the away loss to Wealdstone just days after talking up potential play off hopes FFS.
I truly hope he goes on to be successful as a coach or manager but for Pools I don't think now is the time. If he stayed and had a disastrous season next season that could effectively end his career at the end of the day.

In his interview NF stated that the consultants will be handling recruitment.

He's sharp forgot about how the tactics v Carlisle worked exceptionally for the full game.

His own style was his downfall which cost us a sniff at the top 7.

Smithy soon realised he cudent trust him with a decent budget.

As for recruitment which Grey mentions further down.
The manager should always have the final say.
Otherwise 1 of the consultants should be Manager.

All a bit strange nowadays with hanger-onners n I pads on the sidelines.

Apparently the likes of Brentford and Brighton use data analysis to identify new players rather than watching videos or scouting during matches. All computer modelling to unearth players who fit their style of play and who can be improved and sold on at a profit. Seems to work for them and other clubs.

Believe what you want, as far as National League games are concerned Featherstone is right to say his win % is only bettered by Dave Challinor - and before that, Danny Wilson! Currently, he's on 43% (P30, W13, D8, L9). Grayson had 4 wins out of 15 games.

Great comparison with Sarll by the way - he only won 4 out of 15 games. Like a lot of fans, I tend to enjoy wins more than losses even if the football ain't pretty

The difference between div 4 n 5 %stages are massive.

A bit like saying I can handle us being a shit div 4 team but not a shit div 5 team.

Will we ever get back to div 3

I compared Sarlls shite football with Fevs shite football, not his stats. Phillips had a better win ratio than Fev so he's wrong to say that he's the best since Challinor.
If he's so good he'll not struggle to get fixed up as manager at another club will he?

It's an insane amount of recency bias to say Sarll''s football was better/at the same level as Fevs. You might not like him as a player or a manager and he's made plenty of mistakes but he's played better football than Grayson did and he was lightyears ahead of Sarll. The best comparison is Phillips, similarly negative but had a much better strike force to help him get ahead in games, he then just set up shop and defended the rest of the game.

I agree he's had the team playing better football and have previously said as much. But since he was given the job as opposed to being caretaker most of the football has been shite, imo. In nearly 60 years of being a Poolie I rarely ever willingly miss a home game, I didn't go Saturday and won't be going tomorrow as I'm home decorating and watching the paint dry is likely to be way more entertaining than what's on offer at the Vic, I suspect I won't be the only one.

Featherstone should realise there’s more to football than sheer statistics.
Entertainment being the primary factor…….winning the league by a series of 1-0 victories where you win matches by going ultra defensive and sneaking a goal may work out statistically, but comes at a price that reduces football to a dour slogfest devoid of enjoyment and endured for the sake of it.
Victory at any price can be a double edged sword.

have always trailed up to the vic in hope rather than the expectation of a win. when it used to happen i felt like a little kid again. then this season we had a manager who sucked all the interest out of games. last saturday just summed it all up. a win that just never felt like one. what will come next. just hope its not somebody who tells us to appreciate the new type of crab football, playing out from the back, and nicking points as they have coaching badges and we know nothing.

The lowest scorers in the top 7 have 77 goals scored against our paltry 49.

He keeps blabbing on about uncertainty around the club surely football in general is ran that way when it comes to the players, won't most of Arsenal and Man City's squads be unsure where their future lies next season?, it's the way the game is nowadays and has been for a long time, hence you have very few players on contracts of more than 2 years, and hardly any players having 10 year testimonials.

Some modern players are only at clubs weeks and sometimes days.

They've got the certainty that they'll be paid until the end of their contracts same as every player at every club. Probably a few felt fairly comfortable that they'd be offered new deals if their mate Fev was getting the job?
Poor excuse really, it was it Fev trying to force Brombys hand and make announcements soon er than they'd like ideally.
If I were a player at Pools, I'd have tried my utmost to earn a new contract by trying to play out of my skin to impress them.

Aye its strange when things are on the up, They say whats happening in the background does not affect us we concentrate on the football.
But he really thinks fans are thick, We know agents are all over their players at this time of the season sorting deals out.

the latter does not seem to happen nowadays as players think when one door closes another opens up for them. its too late when these doors are locked and bolted and they cannot find a club by september. there will be hundreds of them without clubs once there contracts run out. quicker we get a fevs replacement the better it will be for our current out of contract lads and new ones coming in. we do not want to start 26/7 season with a team the new manager does not want.
