Anyone know the monthly water charges for a bog standard three bedroom semi with out a meter for Northumbrian Water...As Hartlepool is the only place in the entire North East who is controlled by Anglian Water, it would be interesting to compare prices.

You need to know the rateable value of the property.

For example my bill from that water company is as follows:

Water
Fixed charge 365 days at £146.44 per year
Rateable value £338, at £0.8513 in the £1 = £287.74

Sewerage
Fixed charge 365 days at £179.20 per year
Rateable value £338, at £1.0322 in the £ = £348.88

Just over £96 per month for 10 months.

If you know your rateable values of your own property, they should be on your current bill, then apply the rate in the £1 to the water and sewerage parts, add in the standing charge and you will have what it will cost for Northumbrian Water.

This is for a large 4 bedroomed house, double garage etc.

Apparently if there's only 2 living in a property it's much cheaper to have a meter than pay standard charges for water. Think it's free to have one fitted but can't go back once fitted.

thnik if you buy a new build they,ll have a water meter installed anyway now anyway so you have no choice. just something else that some allow to rule there lives by watching how little they can use everyday.

I bought a new build in 2000 and water meters were fitted, you didn’t have a choice, do new builds automatically have a Smart Meter fitted ?

Although the difference was debatable when water meters first arrived, that is an absolute fact nowadays unless you have fourteen baths a week, take washing in for your far-too-busy neighbours and flush the shitter after each piss and blob of phlegm and toothpaste you gob into it.

Me and our lass pay £28 a month and the two cats wash themselves. We even got a forty quid rebate recently for being in credit after they hadn't read our meter for 18 months.
