In the 80s you got dole money topped up with Earning Related Supplement, I can’t remember how it was calculated but was based on part of previous earnings. Taking into consideration your travel to work your rate of pay you could actually be better off not working. It was abolished in 1982 saving £50 million pounds and I believe benefits were then means tested. Although not much has changed nowadays as some people find life on benefits is more affordable than working.
Some thing has to be put in place to stop where people can be better off on benefits but that would need a massive rise in wages or tax cuts etc.

All done now on a tick box system on a computer programme created by missionary’s and hippies Snowy, most benefits are applied for online now.

Cut taxes n Benefits and put a shoal of Sharks in the English Channel.

benefits are shit for a single person. if you have a number of dependants thats where many are quids in. yet again its the system to blame more than individuals who are just using it.

I knew a lad who lived next door to a single mother, both had two kids yet she got more benefits than them despite having…crazy. two adults.
