That would be a good signing imo. He'll fitvright into the nasty bastards squad were building. Defenders know they've been in a game playing against him.

Hope that's true because he used to be a big handful and if fit regardless of age he will score goals and cause havoc in my opinion

One slight problem at his age I cannot find him playing anywhere after leaving Blackpool a year ago. Mind you clubs may not have wanted him after he crashed his Range Rover and ran away from the Police around the same time I believe. If he has been away for a year and it looks that way, some might rightly say its a last chance to earn some cash before he is finished .sctatchinghead That would not put me off if he gives 100% and is fit.

If fit would be a like for like with Mani D if he needed to come of during games or an injury or suspension at 6ft 4 in he fits the bill.

Played his last full game in February 2023 - in the Championship. Sounds a very long shot, but if the rumour turns out to be true and Sarll is impressed enough to sign him, it'll be interesting!

That's it in a nutshell Mr. Hogan's. I see no way he would be signing unless D.S. is 100% sure about him

According to press reports he got a suspended sentence for failing to stop, crashing, then running off. Said he'd been going through a difficult time due to relationship break up and serious injury expected to keep him out for 9 months.
Can't see Sarll taking a chance if his fitness is in doubt. I'd imagine he'd be prolific at our level el if he does come here.

Having watched him run away successfully from a police car which was only 50 yds or so behind him tells me he is super super fit....Get him signed up.

Just had a bit of a mooch, looks like he had an ACL injury at Blackpool that's why he wasn't playing and had his run in with the bobbies at that time.
If he's fit and prepared to come here, I'd have him in a heartbeat. He'd be head and shoulders above this league.

In November 2010, Madine was found guilty of causing actual bodily harm after attacking a man in a pub. He was sentenced to community service, involving 250 hours of unpaid work. He was also ordered to pay £1,500 compensation to his victim and £1,800 in costs.[76] In October 2013, he was jailed for 18 months after being found guilty of causing actual bodily harm and grievous bodily harm in two separate attacks.[77] Madine was released from jail on 20 February 2014 after serving five months of his sentence

do not think the fitness situation with him would be all that bad. Lee Hughes got back into the game quickly after he was banged up for longer.

yeh ive had this confirmed - he was also at York yesterday by all accounts too.

hes been car sharing by all accounts with the other 2 tyneside based lads from the squad due to him still being banned.

Supposedly hes been doing pre season with Fleetwood and doing extra fitness work locally with some PT type thing. Looks like he wants to be involved and i think he would be a perfect fit for us. Hes a class footballer and has spent most his career in good Championship sides so his experience would be class.

He'll have his agent do whatever is needed to get him a contract.

Have to trust Sarll on this one, this type of player often doesn't work out.

What motivation is within him to drop from Championship team and associated wages to National league?

My sources correct on this one.

Yeh York will be chomping at the bit for him too but they have signed Pearce and have Akinyemi in their ranks. Here we just have Mani D. It would make sense for him if he is wanting game time to come to us - plus its closer to his home in Gateshead (maiden castle).
Wages may be the one like - but hes 33 and been out the game for a while, if a L1 or another Champ club wanted to take the gamble then he would of been having those conversations with them and not Pools. DS will persuade him to come here as i think he would get game time and also score for fun at this level.

wonder who the 3rd team are - as if they play higher up i.e a return to Carlisle or a Harrogate then he may be persuaded that way also.

hes back in training with Pools today though so make of that what you will !

The fact he's back training with us sounds promising, to me if he wasn't considering us i reckon sarll would scatter him.
Wonder if gateshead are the third team sctatchinghead

Raj has got to find the cash if he is fit and raring to go.
A striker like him could be difference between a decent season and a great season.

Can’t be Gateshead…they are the darlings of the game and play angelic, pure football of a magnificence that such a player would be unacceptable in their holy midst etc etc etc blah blah blah.

If we got him it would make good financial sense. We would get more through the turn styles and sell more shirts and possibly even season tickets. Could be he would cost the club nothing in the end especially if we won the league.

If you win 5-1 you very rarely think the other team is decent. Still not bad for a side nobody was going to sign for few months ago.

Looking at their matchday squad most were already at the club, a couple of exceptions being signed from Blyth and Scunthorpe plus Beck from Solihull. So you could say nobody has signed for them in reality.

If you win 5-1 you very rarely think the other team is decent. Still not bad for a side nobody was going to sign for few months ago.

No good winning every match if you are going nowhere.

It said in the local press that York hadn't been able to offer one of their trialists a contract because of the costs ( or words to that effect ), so seems unlikely it would be them, given Madine'a age & possible wage requirement.

Rob Law just said 2 other teams are interested, so maybe they're hoping we don't offer him anything worthwhile and they can then offer him something cheap?

Gateshead got Beck in so doubtful but who knows----if he goes to a league club fair enough---if we are outbid by a fellow non-league side.....questions for Raj !

he was at pre season with Fleetwood so would make sense that being the 3rd club taking a look at him.

i think we must be faves as hes with us today again. Hopefully picking up that No9 shirt and doing photos at the Vic on his way home

What motivation is within him to drop from Championship team and associated wages to National league?

to get a wage if nobody wants him in a higher league. would the rest of our squad be with us if they could play anywhere in the football league with the possible exception of chapman.

Doesn’t really score a lot of goals. Wins load of headers, knock ins. Think another Waterfall. Plays lots of long balls. Certainly won’t take a lot of shi*. Get booked a lot. No surprise there.

Sort of player who causes havoc at set pieces allowing other players to score. And the sort of player to bring off the bench to put alongside ManiD in last 15 mins to force a winner. Imagine trying to defend against those two.
