Ah Kev, you and the sea are strangers.
As for for farting at a rubber duck to sink it….well….. what you do in the privacy of the bathroom is your business….as long as you’re alone in the bath you aren’t breaking the law. bbolt

Ther first proper friendly is a week Saturday (at West Auckland). I'd have money on a few more being through the door by then. And there'll still be nearly a month to go till the season starts on 10th August.

Plenty coming in this Afternoon then
Never bet on Pools :naughty:

After betting on them for a play-off place last season, I probably never will again  Anyway, got to keep the faith, this isn't the entire squad we'll start the season with.

betting on anything positive regarding pools is a good deterent for anyone with a gambling addiction. like a sex maniac having their bedroom covered with nude pictures of anne widdecombe, diane abbott or margaret rutherford.

Maybe i am in a minority but I am not impressed by his talks at all--ultimately it makes no difference as its only results that count--but he seems to be always talking himself up---will see how the season goes

he's acting like his training sessions are introducing some mind blowing new concept the likes of which players haven't seen before in their careers--as I said ultimately the proof is in the results, but I cant help thinking there will be a lot of eye rolling going on especially among the more senior players

When it comes to Hartlepool managers you are indeed in the minority

Rubbishing a new manager before a ball has been kicked in anger is bizarre. I was really annoyed by the manner of Sarll's appointment but that's the board's fault not his. I want him to do well because I want to see Pools do well.

Have a listen to Peter Hartley's opinion of 'Sarlly' at the end of Rob Law's show: https://www.bbc.co.uk/sounds/play/p0j4xw9q. Hartley was playing for Stevenage when Sarll was in charge of their youth set up and he couldn't speak more highly of him both as a person and as a coach.

Hartley thinks Pools will go great guns this season, but says "the biggest problem is the size of his squad" - something we are all worrying about! It's up to Raj to back the manager to the hilt on the pitch rather than wasting money on people behind the scenes who add the square root of naff all to the club's chances of success - like Ronnie Moore, who Sarll never mentions when he talks about recruitment. Appointing Ronnie reeks of a publicity stunt - a Walter Mitty Shithead brainwave perhaps?

It’s not just Sarll, it’s every appointment, it’s just tedious and predictable now.
But any appointment made by Raj will get the same treatment ….so subjective thought is replaced by knee jerk negativity.
I’ll judge the bloke after ten games like I always do, to do otherwise is to assume psychic powers or be a …well…moaner.

Wether he bigs himself up or not doesn't matter at all, can't deny that he talks about implementing the changes that we've all been crying out for over the last few seasons - players that will graft and press for 90 minutes, introducing pace up top, etc
Basically all the ingredients that successful teams at our level require.
And, although recruitment has slowed is anybody doubting that the ones we've brought in look to be a massive improvement on those who've gone?
We've got to hope he's the right man at the right time to take us onward and upward.

hope is the only thing left for us as i feel everything he comes out with is for what we want to hear as fans. the real proof will be once the season gets underway and his talk is seen as more than just that. pointless either bigging the bloke up or doing the opposite until we see how the team plays and the results we get from them. like every manager before him i,m prepared to give em a chance like we all should do.

same as the scripted crap players come out with when they sign. why fans take much notice of any interview is beyond me.

We dont know if the recruitment is better we all think it is well a couple of them anyway. But for all we know this lad from fylde and the Halifax lad could be worse than what we had last year. The year before everyone was raving about signing the lad from Scarborough and he hardly got a game. One thing we do need to improve is the keeper, we cant get away with poor keepers again.

Just listened to interview from yesterday. Can't put my finger on it but something not right when he basically says half the team can't do what he requires. Doesn't bode well when squad is so small.

question is always that they might be able to do what is required but not what he requires. one of the reasons mani d came here to get away from the football halifax,s manager required. what makes a good manager is the one who can gell everyone into a team with different personalities and not just do that with his type of player. we and the players are stuck with him whether he,s right, has the ability or not.

Peter Hartley said a piece on Tees the other day, Praised Snarll no end.
They were both at Stevenage at the same time.

Went as far as to same he,s the closest thing to DC we could get.

he must have had a hard life in football management as i didn,t realise sarll could be regarded as still a young manager in the game at only 41 but thought he looks much older than that.

You’re right….they just express it differently, but what do people expect them to say?
It’s like the man who passes a shop every day and admires the two huge floral displays in the window and finally decides to pop in to see what they sell only to discover it’s a vasectomy clinic, he asks the bloke behind the counter why the floral displays in the window if it’s a vasectomy clinic?
The man replies…”What would you suggest we pit in the window?”
