Brad Nicholson played as a trialist for Gateshead away to Hebburn last night. The game finished 1-7 ( sounds familiar)
the strange this is Brad used to play for Boston but got jailed in 2022 for football hooliganism

Theres always been 1 or 2 footballers who like to go out on a Saturday night for a fight.

Theres was a top keeper who openly admitted he used to do exactly that, Can,t remember his name though, in the 80s i think.

its harder for them avoiding trouble unless they go out in a big group especially close to a town where they play. there are always going to be one pissed up nutter wanting his punch of fame. even harder for a boxer whose licence is at stake if he belts someone back.

He was one of 12 men jailed for football hooliganism for gang fights between rival members of Sheffield Wednesday & United. The fights caused many people to receive hospital treatment after clashes around Sheffield City centre at midday of the game. FOOTBALL HOOLIGAN

I don't remember Barton being a football hooligan sctatchinghead Yes a dick head who likes a fight. On the other hand this Nicholson player was directly involved in football hooliganism and pleaded guilty. The judge called it " appalling violence " he pleaded guilty to violent disorder and inflicting grievous bodily harm. He was sentenced to 18 mths plus 6 mths to run consecutively. He also received a 6 yr banning order to stop him attending any games involving either of the Sheffield clubs.

yes, its hardly a training ground bust up or being wound up by a drunk in a restaurant or night club. its really about peoples opinions of someone who has done a crime and done the time for it and whether they should be allowed to pick up their lives where they left them.

He made a very bad judgement and paid the price. What surprised me is Gateshead are giving him a trial sctatchinghead they are a proper family club with very professional players. sctatchinghead I have no problem with him still being a footballer assuming he learnt his lesson.

Yonks ago in his second spell with Pools I saw Bob Newton bray a feller outside a Chinese takeaway in Spennymoor. Bob was hammered and took exception to the way the bloke had spoken to the lad behind the counter  Might have just been looking for a scrap, it's hard to say

Yes but big bad Bob enjoyed a roll even on the pitch. Funny thing is Bob is terrified of his son who is a black belt. He threatened Bob in a Chesterfield night club when me and a few others from the bunker visited him around 12 years back. Some thing to do we Bob leaving his mother  Bob was 100% worried and we had to calm it down.

His son being a black belt might have something to do with growing up with Bob as a father

many players were not exactly backwards coming forward when there was a chance of a scrap including my old man. fit lads who think they can take on the world which many actually can. a night at the pub with ex halifax, crewe etc etc vernon allatt was never boring with both of us 6ft plus.
