was reading the paper today and people saying that we should play heskey to beat israel, to me this is madness the last "good" game i remeber him playing for england was 9 years ago against denmark in the world cup (i think), so what if he has been playing well for wigan he isnt the answer i understand their point that we need a target man but surley peter croutch can play that role and has a brilliant record for scoring for england also i would rather have johnson parntering owen if truth be told. its the same old story we have lots of world class individuals but cannot put it together as a playing unit, unlike the germans who seem to produce the goods with only a hand full of talented individuals.

It all comes back to the thing about home grown players we were on about a couple of weeks ago.

None of the top clubs are owned by English people, none of the top clubs are managed by English people, most of the players at the top clubs aren't English people so why should they give a flying fook about England??

The FA made it, the FA can play with it but I find it INCREDIBLY boring watching England labour away against such giants as Macedonia and Israel much as I find watching Manchester United and Chelsea booting lumps out of each other and snarling at the referee boring. There's only the here and the now of Pools and their surroundings that remotely interests me. It's not like I haven't tried like, I went to England v Andorra and England v Poland but I couldn't get very interested even though the tickets were a present and I could have been a bit more polite.
