Can't understand why he never took the managers job with us, he must've been offered it enough times.
Unrealistic for him to expect to be kept on for ever as assistant, especially if the managers had their own assistants in mind.

You meant the poisoned chalice? I can't understand why he never took it either

Got to grasp the nettle at some point, be interesting to see if he takes the managers job at Gateshead at some point in the future.
Football management is a poisoned chalice at most clubs isn't it, they all get the sack at some point.

A managers job is tenuous to say the least.
My theory is he had more job security as a coach than as a manager, he always seemed a practical lad and at a club like Pools, where managers were apparently disposed of under normal employment rules, managers got sacked but their staff remained…
it appears this is the first time the logical move of getting rid of all the coaches as well, has been applied.

Off the top of my head I’ll always remember the away match at Bournemouth when we drew to qualify for the playoffs was the time he caught my eye….good weekend away that.

Great game to attend really enjoyed it. And never forgot Fletcher coming over to applaud our fans despite the disappointment of losing...That was class from a fellow Poolie

I don’t he was overrated it was just the players he inherited, good luck to him, 444 appearances for Pools, a great servant to the club.

until recently though he got a free ride unlike managers got due to those 444 appearances. he,d have got more stick as been the one around all the time if he,d got those games for darlo.

We went down for the weekend our lass one of my sons and his girlfriend our lass and his girlfriend went down Boscombe High Street and can’t remember what me and the son did but said to meet up at 2.30 to walk over to the ground.
Disaster, they turned up loaded down with shopping. I went ape shit asking where they were taking it and the penny dropped..she said put it in the car, I said the car’s half a mile away down a big bank under the cliffs…..then she walked off looking at different shop fronts and walked in to one… sctatchinghead ..came out with no bags..asked if she’d got a refund…no, she said..,”It’s a company of ours and they’ll box it up and send it up by internal postage…arrive Tuesday”…Phew!
