Two sources come to mind, the freeing up of Hartley's horrors and the sponsorship deals.
Another possibility is fresh cash from the emergence of new investment.
I mentioned the possibility of this a few months back but that wasn't received well and described as a load of nonsense, so I backed off.
Without new investment from elsewhere the only other possibility is the owner.
Unless anybody else can throw a bit of light on it.

It wouldn't surprise me if the new directors have brought investment to get their seats at the table. Raj has said he'd welcome investment and as these are not non-exec positions they've got a say I don't think he'd have allowed that unless they've bought in.
Might be miles off the mark but it looks like there's a bit more investment in the team than many of us expected or predicted so someone's raised some spending money by the look of things.

Yes and if anybody is behind Walter Mitty Shithead it possibly could be Musgrave, which I suggested when I started the thread about possible new investment.
Something is going on and if there is new investor that person may have insisted that the new money is spent on the team.

We have only signed 4 players so far. We released the big eaners. I believe all ex managers are off the books now I am not quite sure why any of you believe it could be down to some financial investment

You are entitled to a hundred quids worth of credit if it was your investment that has sealed all the deals. Amazing performance and well done. It just goes to show that a hundred quid still has influence.

High earners...... for Pools itc was a shame as for once we'd started giving more than single year contracts out in order to attract more players. The right thing to do but very much in the wrong hands (Hartley).

Signing Beck doesnt make any sense unless, as you say, Mani D is on his way out.

he would make a good back up player if mani was unavailable or someone to be put on the pitch for the last 20 minutes as he can defend as well as attack. again its size of the squad that matters not just a good 11 players and sod all else.

We only have one out and out striker so I don't see how it doesn't make sense. Last season on paper we had Mani, umerah and wreh who are strikers, currently we only have Mani and we need back up for him.

Have a listen to Sarll's interview on the OS around the 8 1/2 minute mark. He's asked what other areas of the team he's hoping to strengthen and says "Dieseruvwe will need some support, in some way or form."

As said above by Accy and Richy, think by that he means he's looking for a big target man as a back up for Mani in games where isn't available or needs to go off the pitch. Umerah was let go, so there's no-one in the squad at the minute that can fill in for his role.

Signing a Beck type who isn't going to start every game but is still a threat when he comes on makes sense.

I hope we're not signing Beck, but I suppose if we do it gives us a plan B of long ball.

He played a lot of games after his injury and barely came off the pitch as we had nobody else. Least this would give us a similar option to come on.

As well as offering another option from the bench if things need to be changed. A sort of plan B.

Hes always played well against pools, especially at Harrogate, he's a handful on his day.

How many times have we lost games though without ever looking like scoring or even creating pressure. Least if we were launching the ball in last 10 to 15 minutes its a different option and he might be able to defend too.

Beck will graft - he knows what hes is playing infront of - knows what it means for us to get on his back if not. Difference when you do get lads from the area - can totally understand DS way of thinking bringing in these local lads. Ones who actually care and want the club to do well !
Think Beck with a run of games and good players around him will be like having an Armstrong back in the side.
