Signed sealed and delivered. Fair play that's a great signing for us after the season he's had.

On paper that looks like an excellent signing.

Just looked on the Crawley board and so far 5 posts one gutted " his favorite player " another who wanted him to stay but not as much as he wanted the other 5 out of contract players to stay. The other 3 wanted him to stay. Looks like a great signing especially at this level. We done Raj now I will buy that season ticket.

Statement of intent more so for me - last 2 players we have brought in both not free agents by any stretch and both very good footballers for this level - if this sort of recruitment can carry on and we can at least get another 3/4 in then i dont see why we should even consider not being at the top of this league this season ! FGR and Barnet probably looking like the front runners and maybe an outside shot from the returning Sutton. Get us a good GK through the door now

Seems a good signing on paper, key is he is in addition to what we have and not a replacement
Assume he will be playing a wide fwd role

He said he plays best when he’s happy and settled…he’s from the North East I understand.

That’s where he did best for us, struggled against big centre halves when playing in a two. He does like to drop deep and get involved.

just hope all the budget has not been used up and we,ll end up the same as last season, a good starting 11 but no strength in reserve. feel the strongest and deepest squads with a good bench are the ones who will succeed next season. not the ones with kids making up the bench who will not get a kick and are only there for the experiance and making the numbers up.

Is it just me or did he actually make the first approach to pools. Sounded like that in interview. If correct big big plus.

Yep, that's what he said - also that it's a 2 year deal. Sarll has made no secret of wanting to build the team around players with North-East roots - he wanted to come back to the area so I guess he took the hint! Still wouldn't have happened if Pools weren't able to make a suitable offer on wages.

It sounded like that to me as well.
He also said they discussed both this year's plan and the year after.
He gave Kev a boost by saying how ambitious both the club and he was.
His comment that being happy off the pitch makes for a better performance on it.
Obviously matured a lot from his last spell.
The big boost to Poolie ears is he always gives 100%. If he does that he'll be most welcome. I think we've had our share of the hot and cold approach.
Looking forward to see how this develops. His reputation and positivity just might be the catalyst that convinces other players to sign, who might have been wavering. I hope so.

managers etc. have to sell the club to future players as if they are any good others will be interested in them. its not totally about a tenner a week either way but the feeling of one club who might be going the right way against another they feel isn,t. think the latter has held us back over the last two seasons as its hard to imagine a few haven,t turned us down because of this.

Just been on the Gayeshead forum and they have two posts about Campbell signing for Pools. One says the Heed should never have let him go in the first place. The other says " what a cracking signing he is for them " Think these fans should have some idea how good this lad is sctatchinghead

Sarll’s missus is from the North East which may explain him moving up, he did comment I believe about knowing the area via family.

Following the transfer market Crawley seem to be losing quite a few of last season first team players who were offered contracts.

That's hardly a surprise when you consider that Crawley only average around 3000 fans per game. The players out of contract will almost certainly be looking for a pay rise to play in a higher league especially after just gaining promotion.

So when Gateshead fans rate Campbell it’s good news but when oldham fans say Sheron was not good enough that is discounted ?

I love the double standards of football fans pre season !
And I say that as someone getting annoyed with himself already for being optimistic

We’ve had loads of criticism about signings not appearing, they appear, they’ll do a job, but little praise for what solid signings.
Overflowing criticism, scant praise…. sctatchinghead

I reserve the right to see how they perform and lets be honest if we get better luck with injuries I do not see how they can be any worse than the motley crew we have endured for the last couple of years.

Today's press again stating he dropped 2 divisions to play for us, not the way I see it, he played in League 2 last season and didn't kick a ball in League 1 with Crawley, also saying he's trying everything to rediscover his form, well sorry Adam the season started in August last year, there's 8 games left, bit late now.

At least Hastie hit a few worldies and had that stormer against York. Don't remember anything of note Campbell has done aside from miss an open goal from a yard out.

initially i gave him the benefit of the doubt especially in the sarll days but have lost all patiance with the bloke who fades from games far too quickly when at times he has reasonable start.
