I noticed that he still hasn't found a club which surprised me. I'm pretty certain he can still do a job in either L4 or L5.

I know this is a wind up but here goes anyway - I'm pretty certain we wouldn't be sat with 9 points in the bag with him in the heart of our midfield.
Been a aivailable as out of contract at various times over the last 5 or 6 years yet no-one came in for him, says it all.

Maybe he was a bit nomadic?

might have priced himself out of the market he,s capable of playing in. joining the list of all those players out of contract who also have not got fixed up. a midfield version of leon clarke or theo robinson.

Good player in a system that suits him. No doubt he gave it his all for us and wish him well for the future.

We had a hundred players worse than him in the years he was with Pools, but for some reason he's resented by a minority because successive managers (including Dave Challinor) offered him new contracts. Whatever floats yer boat.

Not resented at all, yes we've had loads worse but we've also had loads better, yes he had some good games for us but his best days are long behind him even at our present level. He's the past and thanks to him, but he's gone and it's up to others now to step up and prove we don't need him - early days but I don't think we've missed him.

with his age you,d have thought he,d have put his pride on hold and accepted pools offer to give himself a well earned testimonial. doubt he,d have been no more than a bench warmer this season anyway. would have prefered him to leave us in different circumstances. funny how our opponents rated him far higher than many of us did.

But he's been available to other clubs at least 3 times over the last 6 years when out of contract yet nobody rated him high enough to better our offers?
I would have thought accepting our offer and a testamonial season would have been a nice little earner and send off. Surprised he didn't take it.

Keeping Feaths may have not gotten us Mancini or another Key player into the squad. We are mint without him now !

I am surprised hes not turning out for the Hull Engineers Club on a sunday morning but nm - wish the lad all the best and hopefully he can get some football into him before the window shuts (or doesnt depending on the level he finds himself at).

I'm with Flying Hogans, he was a good dependable player. Knew how to hold the ball and give us respite when under the cosh. Often seen talking younger players through the game. Good pro. Sorry he's left. Would have struggled to be a regular this season, but deserved a testimonial. Presume wage offered and travelling wasn't the right fit for him. Hope he gets a club.

Featherstone has sort of been on the edge of leaving for the past four years or so it seems, the end of these seasons it was always debatable if he’d be there for the next season, but he always was there in the end.
He seemed to be regarded as part of the fabric, but obviously Askey, unlike previous managers is thorough in his job and has decided that he was finally surplus to requirements in his plans for the future and you could sense it.
The offer he was made was generous given the circumstances as all things are relative in these circumstances, it was a sign of change and some people get a touch unsettled by it.
But watching Pools so far this season has apparently validated Askey’s decisions.
