Very similar report in The Deck:

https://thedeck.news/hartlepool-united- ... ue-rivals/

Sounds lika a decent signing - and like the first two, unknown to those on here who keep claiming that they are 'hearing things.' Maybe a trip to Boots would help with that?

He can't be coming here, it says a fee is involved and we do everything on the cheap don't we - only sign broken down, injury prone donkeys from Dog n Duck Leagues?

A 'nominal fee.' £500? £5,000? It'll be somewhere in that ballpark. Still, there's a pattern emerging - players in their mid-20s who have done well for other NL sides, which is encouraging.

A bit less hyperbole from both sides of this argument would be a good idea.

Be the 1st fee we've paid since Carver won't it. Must be plenty of cheaper options out there.

Read on their forum that he likes to throw his arms around and point at stuff and they need better than him if they plan to get out of this league. At least we are looking at proven players and not Scottish lower league players. Could do with a few League 2 proven players though.

From the Oldham fans opinions he sounds like a Shelton/Hancox kind of player. Not likely to grab the game by the scruff of the neck but will run himself into the ground and score a few memorable goals.

Similar to what we did with players that have gone on to have decent careers

So he's not good enough to play in a team that wants promotion!
A few proven Efl players is basic common sense though.

He's played plenty of games for them but fell out of favour with the manager in March. Not the first player to do that, let's hope if he comes to us he feels he's got a point to prove.
He's got league 1 experience on his CV, players player of the year for them the season before last, and they want a fee for him so he can't be too bad.

Please stop. We get it you like Raj but it's getting really desperate and cringey. He's an ordinary looking signing, like scores of others we've made and most of these (aside from the odd gem) turn out to be ordinary in the flesh.

Nothing to do with Raj and as far as I'm aware we haven't even signed this lad yet?
If we sign him I'll judge him after I've seen him play for us and not before. Some players fit at certain clubs some don't let's see which of our signings fit when the season kicks off.

That's the vibe I'm getting from my Oldham supporting mate. Doesn't seem like the double hand bastard that we could do with.

Looks like we are delaying recruiting to save on wages.
Seems to be the norm the last few seasons.
Thought it might of been different this season especially with Hartleys signings long gone.

Any updates on Mancini n Dodds. Injurys
Grey n Manny D. staying!
A decent quartet if still here in August and fully fit.

Are they good enuf to carry passengers?
Because as it stands now that's the situation.

Dodds on track to be fit for next season according to the Official Site. Also Mancini has recovered from his injury and will be back from France for pre season training.

We can't have good news, so here is the "but". The medics have said that whilst they have both been given the green light to begin pre season, they must never play in a competitive match unless they wear their boots on the opposite feet for which they were intended and can only do so if the match commences at midnight without floodlights.
A feeble attempt at doom gloomery I readily admit but the masters will soon be along to express it better.

take any notice of fans forums we,d never sign anybody. really they are all just a very small percentage of the whole clubs fanbase and either a back slapping exercise where they want to be popular with others or like here at times a war being declared.

he fell out of favour later in the season. that means the same later in the season when oldhams wheels came off. that gives you a bit more confidence in the signing if ever there was.

Just read that he has played in League One and League Two so I take back my comment about signing League Two players.
Him and the other new lad should make a solid base to allow Mancini (if fit) to have a free role.

Another good signing at a good age, also all 3 signings are at least 6ft.

says he is a defensive midfielder who can play centre half or full back. sounds what we need so again its wait and see.

Daft comment. In his interview on the OS he says he's a fit lad who likes to put his foot in and is looking forward to playing the pressing game Sarll is aiming for. That rules Cookey out on all counts

He actually sounds quite similar to Jack Hunter - they can both play in defence as well as midfield. That's not necessarly a bad thing as the fans have been crying out for a more mobile midfield, but Pools still need to add a playmaker in the Cooke role - hopefully one who can run a bit too!

Different year, same old pattern. Ordinary looking signings leaves Poolies clutching at straws to find the positives (he's tall and not old, awesome). What we are crying out for is some sign that this shit cycle of depressing events year after year is going to be broken. There are zero signs as yet that ANYTHING is changing at the club.

possibly its more to do with the players confidence than wrapping up in cotton wool. everyone is different and it could be sooner or later that they get their full confidence back even though they are declared as being totally fit physically.

Some ambition like you, you're having a laugh. Your ambitions consists of spreading as much doom and gloom as is humanly possible, getting rid of Raj(without a thought as to where that could lead us) and wishing us relegation on a continuous basis.

So hunter and Sheron who can play defensive midfield, wonder where that leaves feather and Wallace, surprised Wallace wasnt transfer listed as well tbh

We def need some legs in midfield so this is good, as people have said a more attacking midfielder as cover for Mancini would be on the list along with another wide player or 2

10p is a fee.

The majority? Where are your survey results? The options I've seen are very very mixed.

What is going to make me happy? Pools doing well. It doesn't matter who the owner is or who plays or how much they were signed for, it just needs to be done right. It hasn't been done right for a while and this time looks no different. Maybe we'll be lucky and the team will click but we are doing the same old stuff and it usually ends up with the same old results.

Derwent, I think you need to go and support a club where struggling to stay away from the bottom of the National League will be seen as something to be positive about.

UTP.
Probably get someone disagree with the 3 of US.

rolf rolf

No way has he said that. No way. Must be playing up to the fans. Or he could be right and have some ambition like us.

Im not like you i dont see success as finishing behind the Gatesheads of this world. Some of us have ambition you clearly dont for pools or your just happy to plod on with inept signings that we have had for two years thinking anyone we sign with two legs will be great.
Some ambition like you, you're having a laugh. Your ambitions consists of spreading as much doom and gloom as is humanly possible, getting rid of Raj(without a thought as to where that could lead us) and wishing us relegation on a continuous basis.
Old Job had nothing on you my friend. Cheer a day Billy.
I'd like to think that you were thinking "This'll get them going" when you wrote that shite but I have my doubts.
Keep up the good cheer, my little ray of sunshine.

Different year, same old pattern. Ordinary looking signings leaves Poolies clutching at straws to find the positives (he's tall and not old, awesome). Spending someone else's money? Like Raj is you mean?

Paid a fee for a player that the majority of Oldham fans wanted to keep, He's pacey versatile can score goals ( check youtube ) and can play in multiple positions - Is anything going to make you happy?

10p is a fee.

The majority? Where are your survey results? The options I've seen are very very mixed.

What is going to make me happy? Pools doing well. It doesn't matter who the owner is or who plays or how much they were signed for, it just needs to be done right. It hasn't been done right for a while and this time looks no different. Maybe we'll be lucky and the team will click but we are doing the same old stuff and it usually ends up with the same old results.

Good old Impy. Master Technician when it comes to spending somebody else's money. Have you bought a ST or any merchandise yet????

Derwent, I think you need to go and support a club where struggling to stay away from the bottom of the National League will be seen as something to be positive about.

I think he would be happy if we finished mid tabke in the conference north.

Wishing us relegation what a pathetic thing to say. I wish the club was successful you know capable of doing ok in this rubbish league. Some of us arent gullible either.
