Why on earth would musgrave need Walter Mitty Shithead. Musgrave has been approached numerous times and he’s not interested one little bit. This is a nonsense story.

If Musgrave was interested he could have got it off IOR for nought a few years back.

On a completely separate note.. KP on under the cosh podcast said he was backed well by Raj and had the finances provided to him when requested.. Not sure how our Raj hater's are going to spin this one?

Good question why indeed but IF he was interested in investing in some way without having to physically get involved, it would seem prudent to have a representative involved to keep an eye on his involvement.
I personally wouldn't pick Walter Mitty Shithead to look after my interests.
I have no idea how many times Musgrave has been asked but if it's more that one then somebody is keeping at it. If at first you don't succeed and all that.
There is more than a faint possibility it is a nonsense story but as Mr P and B also describes it as such the story has at least created strange bedfellows.

So could a whole load of people. Proves the point that that there isn't a queue of potential owners wending their way down Clarence Road. If suitable owners aren't interested when it's for free, when will they be interested.
Having said that, that was then, this is now.
Situations change.

We know the answer, Raj is still involved - People are happy with any sort of consortium to remove him, but should Raj possibly stay.. it's scrutinised.

Because the consortium came with the backing of the trust while this is just some random rumor?
And I would be happy if it was true as meant more investment, I just haven’t seen anything to suggest it is

If he reads the local press he will have seen his name mentioned, wasn’t his daughter a model of some sort and converted the Knights shop on Church Square into a bar called Knights ?

She was Miss Great Britain in the mid-eighties. You're close, they converted Knights shop into Blondes wine bar and after that it was called Knights again.

Backed well is this some sort of joke. Two defenders had already brought in. If kevin phillips thinks he was backed well and brought that load of shite in at the end of the season he deserves to be out of a job.

Walter Mitty Shithead is either bigging himself up with his claim of being involved in the new manager appointment or the new title is a smokescreen and he's actively involved in the direction the club is going imo.

They're patently a cheaply deployed blame-shield for Raj. I think we know who still pulls the strings.

I cant believe we are even discussing it, its a title given so this fan rep can be blamed while raj pulls the strings, the guy didnt wanna even sell so he is hardly likely to give some fan off the street any sort of control in the club. The same fans who have not once come out and blamed raj for anything now wanna know what this fan rep is doing, why to blame him for things?

So say the two "fans" who blame Raj for everything, No need for any other fans to peddle Raj hate on a regular basis as you two are adequately covering the subject for the rest of us.
You can't believe we're discussing it, whilst at the same time joining in the discussion. Hypocrasy at it's finest. Its close season Billy, thats what happens.

I was going to reply to your fisherman friend but knew you would turn up and so waited to kill two birds with one stone.
Now there'a thought.......don't tempt me.

If we can find anyone but raj to blame we will i guess is how it goes.

The consortium was not anonymous to everyone Snowy. They were known to a group of Poolies who Raj trusted enough to find potential buyers to take HUFC onwards (or at least thsts what he said).

However I find it outrageous that you and I were not consulted in all of this.

I don’t want anyone to think I’m being awkward, but if I was gonna try to buy a club where the owner ain’t exactly popular, I’d turn up with a bleedin band playing behind me and telling the media my full intentions from day one and milking it from Day 1.
I’d also be trying to appeal directly to the individual supporters and not bothering with supporters groups……I hate smoke and mirrors especially after the Coxall Fiasco.
I think it only fair potential buyers are open with fans, because fans are the only constant feature of any club…and deserve the highest consideration.
The owner may own the club but the fans own its soul, because everyone else is transient.
You really aren’t a poolie till you die, Poolies never die. :angry-tappingfoot:

The seller might not sell unless it's done behind the scenes, the potential buyer might prefer to be anonymous to avoid affecting perceptions of their business in the meantime, there might be NDAs... all possible reasons.
I know I chap who was selling his retail business but wanted to keep trading in the meantime. It got out that he was selling and suppliers immediately stopped supplying and staff started to leave. It's a random example but there are loads of reasons why deals are done behind the scenes.
People have a right to privacy and it's not necessarily a sinister thing. How long were IOR talking to Hornsey before the takeover was announced? It seemed to come out of the blue but I bet it was going on for a while before fans found out. Due diligence takes weeks if not months.

Different scenario selling a football club, staff wouldn’t leave, suppliers, Pools only have the fans.
IOR didn’t do too much due diligence first selling the club to TMH who stole the gate money from 2 games and ended up in jail then to Coxhall both in a very short period of time certainly not months. IOR couldn’t wait to offload Pools, after Larsen withdrew his backing a small company like IOR didn’t have the funding to run Pools.

Very true Jamie…..IOR also gave ous several seasons in the doldrums wher it was blatantly obvious the interest had gone.
Football isn’t a business in the business sense, the ‘customers’ have a lot more passion for the ‘product’ on offer because they’re the real workforce and customer in this so called business…no fans, no club.
That’s why we need to know, because we’ll still be here when these people are just a regrettable footnote in the club’s history.

Nowadays seems like the Trust is not recognised.
Overtook by different fans groups who believe everything is rosey and we getting plenty of wins in league 1.

Regardless of our opinions, if KP says he was backed then why challenge that statement?
I would imagine that he asked Raj to bring players in and Raj would have said something along the lines of "OK you can spend x amount go see Joe Monks and get on with it".
I don't imagine Raj would have said "OK you can have Dickenson, Khan, Cooper, Agyeman etc they're really good I've been scouting them for a while and I know they're really good. In fact I've told Joe Monks to do the deals already because I'm brilliant at finding football talent."

But according to quite a few ior should not of been criticised at all, damn right they should of been, they gave us great years, but they also sold us to two con artists and ran the club down last couple of years.

Because we all know its utter nonsense. He was backed in the fact he was allowed to bring a few loans in. Any club can bting loans in as they are normally cut price options, we pay so much you pay so much. If backing was bringing them lads in we are in for one hell of a season this season.

I thought loan signings, especially out of favour L2 players, was pretty bog standard business for NL clubs. Maybe it's a sign of how much we us long suffering poolies have all been ground down by it that some of us could see that as a manager being particularly 'backed'.

The last few years under IOR were dire, managers came and went and it was obvious we were gonna be football orphans…in the end we were thrown overboard.
The early years were great, but frankly we still under achieved, how’s that for a bit of controversy.

But KP has not said he wanted better players, or permanent signings, he's saying he got what he wanted. Raj could quite easily have said we've got a big enough squad, players out on loan so call them back, and an academy so you'll have to make do.
End of a dead season loanees give zero indication of what signings are to come.

yes, but KP could just have said that he got some backing from raj but not what he fully wanted. would have just been his opinion on the situation and not seen as raj bashing. however he didn,t say that. question to really ask is if the khans and dickensons had come off would he still be our manager.

But according to quite a few ior should not of been criticised at all, damn right they should of been, they gave us great years, but they also sold us to two con artists and ran the club down last couple of years.

The last few years under IOR were dire, managers came and went and it was obvious we were gonna be football orphans…in the end we were thrown overboard.
The early years were great, but frankly we still under achieved, how’s that for a bit of controversy.

not controvertial but the real truth. really their good times just gave us memories now we rely upon to keep us going.

End of a dead season loanees give zero indication of what signings are to come.

Well what the end of season signings proved is kevin phillips or joe monks arent particularly good at spotting players from march onwards, in what is a critical part of the season. Dan kemp was signed the previous year on another planet to what we got this season. I highly doubt a team pushing for promotion would of even looked at these sort of players, infact probobly would of knocked them back if they got 4 for the price of 1.

Different scenario but lots of parallels.

Regarding those ‘signings’…I’ve seen better things come out of the Dredger.

The standard is that bad any signing we make is looked upon as some superstar now, im sure i read loads of comments about duffus not so much on here but how he was just what we needed. What some lad that scores about 3 a season? Our first signing last season you would of thought we had signed bobby moore, hardly played for us all season. At the time we were being told once again what great backing managers were getting here? Yeah signing not goid enough national league players.

Featherstone deemed not good enough last year, no other club wanted him, what do we do? We sign him on for another 18 months. Ferguson had a shocker of a season, what do we do? Have another contract fergy. If thats the standard coming again then its going to be a fairly similar struggle.

problem was many of those loan signings like duffus were players from the past. feel you can add featherstone and ferguson to that list. if you give a contract to one player who did well in our promotion season then why not a younger one who did the same like crawford.

Why look back and base your predictions for the future on history?
We know we have at least a handful of players who are easily capable of playing to a top 7 level.
We haven't actually signed any new players yet but writing them off as going to be substandard based on what we're emergency loans under a different manager just doesn't make any kind of sense at all. Especially when even with some of the shite we had last season we must have thrown away enough points to to get us into the play offs!!

even if KP was still with us he,d be making better signings from a larger available list than those emergency loans were. Like getting a stop gap old banger with little to choose from with whats left available to spend when a few months down the line there is more available to buy with a bit more money to spend.

Im writing them off as going to be substandard based on two to three years of similar happenings.

Because the same things keep happening, the same guy looking after transfers keeps signing or helping to sign garbage in the main. Featherstone signed yet again. We might have a handful of players capable of being a top 7 team but so do 20 other teams its just the the top 7 have 8 or 9 of them capable of playing in a top 7 side and strength in depth.

I can fully understand and agree with lots of the criticism arising from the last few years. I just can't comprehend how anyone can claim to support the club but criticise things that haven't happened yet - just how can that possibly be supportive?

We've kept most of our better players, Fev will hopefully be more coach than manager but surely not a 1st choice pick next season.
Let's see what players are brought in and how the manager gets them to perform for a couple of games at least can't we before writing the season off.

Justified criticism, where is the money going to come from to sign players, Pools/Singh won’t be paying for any. It will be free agents and players released by clubs who no longer deem them good enough basically the dross.

As I say what do any of us know that tomorrow will bring?
Until we've signed some players and seem how they perform, regardless of where they come from, there is no justification whatsoever to be critical of what's not going to happen for another 2 and a half months.
Gateshead were a team of cast offs and loanees and finished in a play off position.

You mean like Sbarra and Kemp. Or Armstrong when he was at Salford. Or Diamond of Sunderland. There's more.
Then there are those who are out of contract and don't want to stay where they are, like Oates and Molyneux who moved as free agents. The above meet your criteria but certainly aren't dross.
Not all free agents and the unwanted released (surplus to requirements) fall into the dross category. Some do yes but not all.
Very sweeping statement, Jamie.

I would imagine most clubs in the NL will have squads made up of released players ie free agents and loanees. York splashed some money on transfer fees but other than them amd Chesterfield who else paid transfer fees last season?
