Aw Snowy. I expected more of you than to come out with this old cliché. I'll put it down as a brief lapse. At least you didn't wheel out the old "some people are glad when we lose' nonsense.

Old cliche or awkward/awkward undeniable fact. It’s nothing new.
No ‘lapse’ on my part.
You were a bit premature by quoting what I might have been able to say but had no intention of saying and indeed didn’t.
A car crash always attracts more attention than a car show.

Its human nature. We're still a mess of a club. Relieved at avoiding relegation to NLN, how low have we dropped? I wasn't premature, you were free to say it and I expressed relief that you did not. Furthermore I did not speculate on the likelihood (or not) of you going on to say it. Should a car crash last from August to May?

1-0 win is hardly the same as a 7-1 loss in fairness

Still only three points. It improves the goal difference and that is all.

A 1-0 win should be celebrated, a 7-1 defeat should be buried.
Why take a morbid interest in defeat.

I'm more likely to appear on here after a good result, maybe it's my age (60) :)

The win keeps us up in division 5.
Not keeps us in the play off mix to get to league One.

Classic wordtwistery.
Maybe next season there's no funny old world sctatchinghead therethere

‘Classic wortwistery’ really?
No, just a fact, a sad fact that some get more anxious and uptight and angry after a defeat and rant away, yet praise is kept to the minimum with a caveat in that .
Are you disappointed it just kept us in Div 5, is it top or nothing….?
You are missing the point, any result is only relevant to the situation you are in, whether top of the league or fighting at the bottom and you have a target to be achieved at both ends of the table,
Shit season…… but good to still be in one piece at the end….I have the humility to celebrate just surviving, some want perfection, I’m too old in the head to constantly be disappointed by not acheiving even relative perfection constantly.
I’m not dreaming because I’m wide awake and can cope with setbacks.

Depends on your personality.
My cups half full, your cups smashed to pieces.
Never dwell on setbacks, move on, there’s no positives in self pity.

Yes we live in a funny old world and football is a funny old game.
And Internet talk/crack/banter is like chalk n cheese to offline face to face talk which I most prefer.
I only talk shite Online Honestly.

Kev, I used to get really angry over defeats, I once kicked the picnic bench round the garden in the early 2,000’s but …..all I got was a bill for a better picnic table to compensate for her who must be obeyed losing her rag then.
I learned to chill out, what’s the point, I’m still disappointed and have been since we beat Doncaster and our world collapsed.I’m left with hope, but it’s no consolation.
I do prefer face to face chats about Pools and the trouble with message boards is what you say can be misconstrued on how we interpret each others words to arrive at different conclusions, but having 40 odd people round your house for a chinwag would put a strain on the seating and catering to be fair.

It’s a bit depressing otherwise.

Never dwell on setbacks, move on, there’s no positives in self pity.

Just fact of life more to discuss in defeats or big games. More people would comment on here if we were in the fa cup semi final than a first round game its just the way it is.

do not even have a cup, but it was nice to see the players putting a shift in. the win came secondary to me.

There'd already be another half a dozen new topics added if Pools had done what was expected of them and got beat by Halifax. The Big Canine Loyal Fan and others of his ilk would be back hovering like carrion crows over a bit of roadkill.

So happy days... even if the game was as dull as ditch water and the only thing to celebrate was Pools scrapping their way to a win. They didn't implode again and give the malcontents another field day.

See Rochdale, who were being built up as another team that would outclass Pools, are now just 3 points ahead of us with the same number of games played. Not that I'm going to be brave enough to predict a result on that one. Prefer to see which version of Pools turms up first.
