Got a flatly yesterday morning, couldn’t undo the nuts, they must have been put on with a flogging hammer…kicked the tyre, phoned out my Recovery provider ( no names, no, pack drill ) at 9am finally got to me at 4.30 ish (I haven’t named them because it wasn’t their fault) all because they were swamped with calls.
However, why every Bank Holiday do the holidaymakers migrate en masse like locusts going to the same place everyone else is going and block the roads….. sctatchinghead
I worked every Bank Holiday to avoid that and go out when I choose.
I wonder if as usual the hell hole of Whitby was full of jostling lost souls doing the circuit and getting their overrated expensive fish n chips…used to love going there but swerve it now.

could not agree more. did the same when i worked and one good thing about not playing in league div.1 is we could have been playing blackpool away today. i have always called em wank and not bank holidays and its sods law your yearly breakdown will happen then or when its snowing or sleet coming down with accidents because of drivers driving by numbers and not the conditions.

Whitby now a place to be visited only when the kids are at school and everybody is not on holiday. When those conditions are met its a lovely place to visit.

mind you it isn,t just kids that cause the problem. its those who have to go somewhere just because it is a bank holiday no matter what the weather is doing outside. know some have no option, by why do pensioners also seem to have to join them when they could just as easily go when its quieter. would stop em having a whinge about the crowds they have to suffer as if thats a shock to them.

That’s just how it suits me, if the one alive is there next time I visit I’ll have a word with them..
I adore the seaside and the sea, but can’t stand professional resorts like Blackpool or Scarborough…….you can’t get the smell of Candy floss or hamburger onions off your clothes.

its the cost of food that gets me in those places and their excuses for it like only being open for say 8 months and not a year only to spend winter abroad because in those 8 months they had more customers than those inland get in a year. not paying over double for what i can get at the headland or round the corner from me. it aint just the seaside resorts doing this but at haworth that is open 12 months a year doing the same. possibly the cotswolds are the worst in prices, even a model shop in bourton on the rip off charged much more for a model you can buy at home but idiots are prepared to pay these prices and then go back for more. gives you the question is who do you blame the most rip off buisiness owners or the public themselves who encourage it to happen.

Spot on Mr Ozzy, those are the only times I will visit. The day consists of a drive to Pickering, then catch a steam train to Whitby and return. Good day out that is.

I have a rule of never travelling anywhere on a bank holiday weekend.
Stay at home and avoid the stress.

Was at Bourton on the Water last April and looked about, didn’t spend a penny, drove to Stow on the Wold, found an old pub off the main drag and had a great meal at a reasonable price.
Model kits are a real rip off nowadays…love how they sell the 50 year old kits as ‘classics’

Must admit I’m not a fan of the Cotswolds, it’s like film set, but I do like Tewkesbury.

not a fan of any inland spot that a place of the natural tourist. all vastly overated and costly. say a word against these places will get showers of comments on not knowing what you are talking about. bit like not liking the beetles was in the 60,s and slagging off blockbuster fillums.

We like Tewkesbury. Have a pint in the Berkeley Arms. Burford and Moreton In the Marsh are nice too. Broadway is picturesque but full of snobs.

Pulled up there last year, the heavens opened, never seen anything like it, the gutters running down the bank were a torrent so we never actually got a chance to see the place…thank God.

I had a tyre blowout on the M62, pulled over onto the hard shoulder all sorts of trucks cars whizzing by, cop car pulled up as I was about to change the wheel. Everything ok he said, yep, he promptly jumped back in his patrol car and sped off leaving me still being buffeted by the traffic on the hard shoulder.
I thought he should have pulled up behind me and put his flashing lights on, how many fatalities have there been on hard shoulders with stationary cars ?

Oh look it’s Snowy having another dig at me which he does at every opportunity.
Snowy I am quite capable of changing a tyre, no way was I waiting on a recovery group whilst stuck on a hard shoulder on one of the busiest motorways in England.

Oooooh we are touchy this morning…there, there.
Asking if you had insurance to avoid such risks is hardly taking the mick
YOU were the one complaining about how dangerous the conditions were, not me. But you decide play the comic macho role by saying you can change a wheel and slagged the copper off who stopped.
