I know I know, don’t write them off until we see them play etc….but if the plan is really ‘let’s bring in some players from even further down the pyramid who the manager knows’ the. I give up

Obviously I hope he does well and I am looking at things from a glass not even quarter full after recent results , here’s to a win against York and some much needed optimism coming back in.

Make your mind up, on one hand your criticising the move and on the other hand hoping for the best sctatchinghead
Plenty of clubs bring lower league payers in and make a success of it and some don’t every signings a gamble.

If he's a left winger or wing back then KP has seen enuf already to suggest it won't be a gamble.

Mathematics says 4 wins required to stay up.
16 wins for play offs.

KP did a clean out job at SS which produced success.
Expect the same model at Pools as not 1 of our out of contract misfits deserve a chance of Redemption.

Doesn't matter where they come from it's what they can do for us. We're crying out for a wingers let's wait and see.
If you're giving up because we're signing a player from a team 1 league lower, then you're probably doing the right thing, Pools are probably not the club for you with that outlook.

The standard of players we have brought in before have mainly been of a lower standard. We are probobly at a lower standard than south shields now with this team, im sure there are many gems around in the lower leagues, but like we said a few year back, keep bringing your bulk for lower leagues good chance you will end their.

The shocking thing is we could swap our whole team with south shields now and we would probobly do better.

Obviously it’s a balancing act, you can’t just throw a load of them in, but again it’s always a gamble.

Spot on.

But thats what we keep doing. We keep signing injury prone players, lads who cant get a game
Or lads who have scored about 3 goals in 3 seasons, then miraculously believe the manager is going to do a decent job.

But the truth is the bulk of our squad we're at Div 2 clubs or higher last season isn't it? This obsession with claiming we keep signing players from lower league is just wrong.

???By that reckoning the top 10 in the NLN are all better than Pools. May as well give up now, relegation is a certainty!

there are players in the top 10 NLN sides who might easily get into a pools team. its finding the right ones which is the problem. dan dodds wasn,t too bad was he before he got crocked. its about finding the young eager player from a league below like aldershot did with a lad who seems bound for the championship.

Have you watched the last 3 months or so, looked at the form tables, they dont lie.

Do you think this team at present is good enough like? How many more losses do we need? Already lost to dorking at home , kidderminster, drew with the mighty ebbsfleet at home, lost to chester in the cup, lost to the mighty Hampton and richmond all on our own patch, if that doesnt wake us up nothing will. We have one hope kevin Phillips. The team at present will either take us down or be very close to it.

possibly we will have to get to rock bottom as a club before things are altered. oldham. scunthorpe and even stockport were there in the past with a decent fan base but did improve once this happened. a bit of a shit or bust situation and without this we could just bugger along for years like in the past without anything changing. we have not reached rock bottom yet and would take NLN if we did see a new dorn if that happened.

The warning signs are there we have already played two regional national league teams and lost on our own patch, albeit cup games. We are in a false position because of the number of games we have played. We need a new manager bounce, it didnt come last night, hopefully it comes Saturday.

Beat me to it Snowy.

Although I think we might need 5 or 6 to make sure of safety. There's a few teams waking up to the idea that if they don't get their arses into gear they're out. I refuse to add to that !!!!!!! :uhoh:

The Shields chairman recently said the manager this season had a £1m budget. Phillips left because he said the budget wasn't big enough.
The budget he had that brought them success last season probably smashed every other team at that level out the park, yet they didn't run away with it.
I like Phillips but to me he's another of these managers who expects it to be his way only. Most managers accept they cant have everything they want and work with it.

V early
Days but he’s a huge gamble, his first few public statements have been fairly bland with multiple comments about how the owner is backing him….its way too early to comment but the onus is on him to prove what he can do

given how poor some of these lads are / have been over the last few months. The new signings needed / incoming need to be of very very good quality. If we are taking gambles on non league lads again with say few goals to their name then im afraid its curtains for this club.

we need players with experience (which hes already said thankfully)

Parkes is a fine example of how you bring a player in to help things - okay we are still letting in shit goals but him being at the back has helped and you can see he gives Mani O some extra cover and confidence.

Thought Hendrie was poor last night aswell - hes no RWB and doesnt really seem confident enough past the half way line. Sterry would torment defenders in that position and always get us the ball into the box. We really are missing a good Right hand side altogether

Exactly Lone Star, we will be lucky to have a budget to match the advantage he had at Shields, only hope he has learned from his time their and can adapt to the competitive league.
