I would say your biggest worry for this season is goalscoring, by a long way. From the crop of players you have and the way in which DW is sending the team out, I can't see any of your guys getting more than say..............5 goals this season

If you look at the match stats Hull have a far bigger problem than us with goalscoring - 33 shots and no goals! Yes, I know that doesn't help us.
Interesting to see that Pools had the majority of the possession though.

If the various match reports are anything to go by, one of our most promising attacking options at the moment seems to be David Foley, provided we play him alongside someone who will look after him against the butchers. But the way things are at Pools it would probably turn out yet again to be promise and nothing else.

Look, this MUST be a psychological thing. In terms of talent there's no way Porter, Brown, Daly, Foley, Proctor, and Williams are the worst strikers in the division. I get the impression that even if Miroslav Klose and Lucas Podolski were to join Pools they'd end up struggling after three games!

Let's do something radical like inviting Alan Shearer down to spend three weeks with the team doing nothing but goalscoring practice!

We do NOT have the arial prowess to be playing with two wingers.

Its obvious.Isnt it?

Well it would be if wingers weren't supposed to do anything else but put crosses in.

Way back when wingers were always an integral part of the game, it was considered job done if they dribbled round the full back and fed a ball to the forwards at whatever the optimum height and distance was.
Cliffy Wright had some great games on the wing torturing opposition full backs then feeding the ball to two midgets by the name of Jimmy Mulvaney and Ernie Phythian. And they got twenty league goals apiece in the only full season they played together.

Oh yes, and wingers are supposed to chip in with goals too!

Thanks to Mad John I can illustrate this and my previous point perfectly.
And by the way Cliff Wright wasn't much bigger than 5'6" either!

Imagine how chuffed we'd be to see something like this today...

edit: oh by the way, the manager that season knew a little bit about goalscoring himself

The good thing about that* is that the free-scoring didn't start until the 24th September. Before that we looked to be misfiring.

Roll on Peterborough

And another omen perhaps?...

Shrewsbury won by three clear goals at the Vic!
