Jools Holland's music show, especially that Christmas one.

Jools is a bit of a smarmy old toad. He sidles in to view with his big buttoned shirts and then introduces some bland, identikit, cardboard, rich fathered, Brit School, cliched wannabe rakxe - they all look and sound the same and they are all dull dull dull.

What I'd really like to see is him introduce some proper rockers. The type of musician that has to keep on gigging because it's all they know, they've got bills to pay, and they haven't got a trust fund. Someone like Wreckless Eric or Roman Jugg - who after being introduced by smug old Jools would walk across to the front of the stage and whack a Gibson Firebird Bass over his head.

This isn't going to happen though.......

I thought his show at new year was absolute crap.

I caught a bit of it. Rod Stewart, complete with his blonde companions looked a complete burke. Whilst Jools needs to cut down on his Pork life!

Funnily enough there was a court case last week in the Mail of a woman urinating in the street. Now I don’t approve, but the fines she had to pay were mind popping running into hundreds of pounds….and what exactly are the ‘victim surcharges’ they slap on, who was the victim…. sctatchinghead

I gather that the victim surcharge goes into a fund to pay compensation to victims of crime. So for example if some old codger gets beaten up and robbed by some penniless drug addict, they would get paid compensation from the money charged to those who had committed other crimes. Of course the penniless drug addict pays nowt to no one.

I’d expect any compensation to go to the victim of the crime they committed, not into some big communal fund, because the woman I mentioned didn’t have any victim to compensate.

I hate getting junk mail that I put straight in the bin. We get told that the trees need saving then we receive all this crap through our letter boxes. Stop and think for one moment just how many millions of tons of this useless junk gets put straight into the bins in the UK alone. None of this makes any sense at all in a real World.

I guess reality does not always fit to our expectations. As the woman in your story committed a "crime" that didnt have an obvious victim, should she be let off the victim surcharge? Who will pay the compensation to the victim of the penniless drug addict?

Might I suggest the drug addict…out of his benefits.

My nosey horrible neighbour. We have 4 brilliant neighbours 3 who keep themselves to themselves ( which is absolutely fine ) and 1 right next door to me who is 60odd yr old woman who lives with her 80 odd year old mother. I was told that her husband left her around 20 years ago and moved in with this young attractive girl from work. She has a daughter in her mid 30s who is a very nice polite woman who told me she moved out because the mother created arguments over nowt almost daily. This neighbour has never said a word to me in 8 years and will only ever speak to one neighbour in the street. But this woman decided to march over to a birthday party held by 6 couples ( Inc us ) in a garden opposite and screamed abuse at all of us over people laughing and chatting with quite back ground music. It was a Saturday night around 9.15 pm we where all gob smacked. She threatened to call the police because it was illegal and told us all how ignorant and selfish we where. Obviously she was told what she can do but what a crap attitude for doing nothing but have a single party in 8 years as neighbours. stpid

A sound suggestion but quite often the addicts have a few kids that they are meant to be supporting with their benefits.

‘Supposed’ being the operative word.
I recall a report in the Mail a few years ago that described someone in their 30’s in court as …’the former Dyke House pupil….

Trying to book a holiday online then you get to the final price there is a tax which wasn’t included in the original price.
Where you have to tick or untick a box, some times it means yes other times no, I have been caught out a few times with insurances but there is cooling off period therefore managed to cancel it.

At last, it’s not just me.
On the main news this morning people are avoiding driving in the dark because of super bright headlights dazzling drivers.
It doesn’t help when some of the feckwits are have their dazzlers at maximum elevation or driving on full beam…in fact they’re that bright when the go over the slightest bump it looks as though they’re flashing you.
Biggest offenders are the Chelsea tractors with their raised suspension.

I agree! Even premier league defenders can lose possession in dangerous positions so fifth tier defenders are asking for trouble trying 'to play football' too close to their own goal.

Mines all relate to flights.
Passengers who take over sized bags on a plane and try to fit them in the overhead locker so they don’t have to pay for a hold baggage fee albeit most airline now limit you to 7kg cabin baggage although some how some passengers manage to sneak a bag on.

Passengers who wear large rucksacks and knock every one behind them when walking down aisle.

Passengers who insist on unfastening their seat belt and stand up on a plane before it comes to a complete standstill and attempt to get their luggage out of the overhead locker, they are not going anywhere till the doors are open, if the aircraft braked suddenly they could fall or their bag could fall on another passenger injuring them.

Passengers who rush to board when the fight is called even though most planes board by zone, you have to wait till your zone is called, don’t they realise there are seats for everyone.

Passengers who don’t turn their electronic gizmos off during take off and landing when requested to irrespective even if they don’t affect the onboard electronics.

A few years back EasyJet didn’t allocate you seat on short haul flights, it was a stampede when boarding was called, I always waited till last to board.

And finally airlines now charging you for everything possible, some long haul flights are now charging for meals. You do a flight search get a decent price, you add hold luggage on usually about £40 more add ons if you want to book your seat etc. Ryanair are culpable of this if you don’t check in online they charge you £55 per person at the airport.

You've just about covered them all for me there mr j...and what about them irritants who have to use the toilet every 20 mins.up and down the aisles all time.

One more kids sitting behind you kicking the back of your seat.

I need some times to use the toilet regularly, age thing that’s why I never drink alcohol before a flight and very little during the flight like water it just goes straight through me.
I always chose am aisle seat when I can because of this.

Once went to Zante and some kid kicked back of seat constantly and when I complained, I was to 3he bad one. Getting our luggage the father loudly said to his mother thats the miserable twat. Bastard was behind us a week later, but the cherub fell asleep.

been banging on about it for years. know there is a minimum brightness that headlights are legally allowed to have but how do you police it. if the cops are driving down the road and see a vehicle whose headlights look wrong by the time they turn round to catch them they,d be miles away. you can buy these lghts on the internet from china and if you fancy joining them just swap em over for your present lights and swap back for the MOT. with modern street lighting on top of unlit roads i can see why people go down that road where dipped beam on two out of my cars is bloody useless to the point of being dangerous if you do not know the road.

Soap Operas.

Where do I start? Where do I finish?

They are sheer garbage/bilge/lightweight rubbish.

Let's look at Emmerdale, the wife is an addict. It's set in a little Dales village supposedly much smaller than Leyburn or Hawes or Masham or Osmotherley, yet there are murders, serial killers, there is a hostage situation nearly all the time. The inhabitants (when not shooting each other, impregnating each other, taking each other hostage, selling drugs to each other, driving over Skipdale Pass and having the car balanced with two girlfriends nearing death, blackmailing each other.....) are quite often very attractive men and women, well dressed etc etc -

I have to leave the room - it's trying to kill my brain cells, Scooby Doo is more believable yet man many women are addicted to this crap.

[quote="Infidel"]Soap Operas.

Where do I start? Where do I finish?

They are sheer garbage/bilge/lightweight rubbish.

sounds a bit like the street where i live so the programme must be quite lifelike even though unlike for me there is no man.u fan living there.

When booking a holiday or a flight where the prices can change in a matter of minutes usually upwards, I was told sites track you and they know how many times you are ‘hitting’ them ?
