4-1 to the home team after Pools take an early lead. More comedy defending. A couple of Pools remaining defenders drop out minutes before kick off.

the whole coaching staff from the manager downwards and our long serving number 12 picks the team and tactics and we shock the football world.

Stockport stuffed Pools at the Vic but we drew with them in the return game, we can’t do any worse against Oldham.

6-2 against one of the poorest sides in the division. We finally let in 6 goals but hey we score 2 of the 7 needed for 3 points.

Manni D out injured and Josh Umerah doing his best Fondop impression so I doubt we'll score more than one. Probably Gray will get our solitary effort. Having said that, I admire you looking for the positives.

I predicted the previous result 3-1 to Oldham. I predicted 2-0 in this match. Importantly Mancini gets a bit more game time in preparation for Januarys do or die fixtures. Probably the most important in our history

In our history there’s an extensive catalogue of ‘most important in our history’ matches to peruse if you’re having trouble sleeping.

if we do win i hope its a deserved victory and not one that papers over the cracks for another week to give us more false hope.

If you’re looking for a team to let you down consistently, we’ve cornered the market.
But……like a corpse twitching, they sometimes give you the impression of life …but it only happens briefly, gives you hope, then fate screws the lid down on our season’s coffin.

Just a post from an Oldham fan on their forum sums us up at the moment.

Thought we looked miles ahead of them on boxing day. They looked like the worst team in the division in all honesty.

We need to press from the off and get an early goal or 2. Their defence looked truly awful (23 for them is the worst I’ve seen in the league this season). Get at them from the off and we should get a dominant win.

Norwood and Stones should be having a field day against that defence, as they did a few days ago.

4-1 the blues.

True and we bottled most of them. I still haven't got over losing 0-2 to Crawley in the relegation decider, last season. The manner of the loss was as hard to take as the result. Its not like we went down fighting. Anyway, water under the bridge but sad thing is, it is evident nowt has changed since then: a few different faces, same attitude/lack of commitment.

I thought they were almost as bad as us so a slight improvement might mean we could get something today.
Can we get any improvement from the nucleus of the squad who seem to play based on availability rather than form, or will Askey roll the dice and bring some different faces in?
A win, a draw, or even a thrashing could happen and probably not surprise many.

Goal after 2 minutes. Is that the quickest we have conceded this season? The expected hammering begins.

Anyone watching the live feed, did we gift them the goal or was it scored because of good play by the opposition?

I logged on 5 mins late so didnt see the goal.....though wasnt surprised at the score, Oldham commentators saying it was a good one but they would.

he took it well and everything just dropped right for them in the build up. for once we cannot blame any single individual and overall we are not playing badly creating a couple of half chances but feel they need to be nailed on chances for us to equalise. certainly an improved performace to boxing days crap.

Hastie just strolling around bad body language. He loses the ball every single time he receives it. Don't think he could get past a pensioner with a broken leg and a zimmer frame. We got most of the play but no end result yet again. Oldham look worse than we do and that's saying something. Must be two of the worst teams in the league. rakxe

Summary so far.

They have one shot from 25 yards goes in.

We have one shot from 10 yards hits the keepers legs.

Overall much more of the ball but clueless what to do with it nothing up top i think if Mancini gets on for the full half he shud be able to open these up and hopefully score a couple.

Yeah agree on hastie leggie

I see Fondop came on late in the first half. Gotta be in with a chance. If I was a betting man I'd put a tenner on him to score.

No probs. We just play Hastie as Centre Forward and recall Njoli from his loan. Easy peasy.
