Started now from the 1st of December, Slade, Kirsty McCall, Wizard, Mud, Cliff, I do like 60s and 70s music but why have the same re runs every Christmas ?

Slades Noddy Holder and Jim Lea take home a cool £500,000 annually each, from a song that was number one in the UK charts in both 1973 and 1989.

I do actually have a favourite song Driving Home for Christmas by Chris Rea, reminds me of heading back to Hartlepool for Christmas after working away, least favourite one is Fairytale in New York.

Music today is abysmal in general….. there are some exceptions, but the past fifteen years have been dismal for the majority of music, basically it’s crap.

Used to work in Bilston ( Wolverhampton ) 1983/4 and a bloke I worked with was Noddy Holders friend & neighbour. The mates wife planned a surprise 50th for him at his house and arranged a minibus for his work mates to take us over as part of the surprise. Any way got there enjoyed a proper pisss up. The surprise was on us though because we walked in to be greated by Noddy Holder. Proper pisss head but one heck of a nice down to earth bloke. The funny thing was he dresses just like he did on stage its his normal day to day dress. If my memory is correct it was in Kidderminster on a nice but not extravagant housing estate and definitely not posh mansions. My mate later told me Noddy walks down to the end of the road to the off-licence at 7pm every evening and buys a bottle of Vodka & 8 tinnies  I thought he would have been dead well before now. :uhoh:

It's to remind you how happy everyone is at Christmas and to forget the last 11 months of war, famine and increasing poverty!

I don’t think Christmas is a happy time for every one, not all kids get presents and have a Christmas Dinner. Personally I used to love Christmas when I was younger but grew to start disliking it when it started in October and now it’s all about shops making money and people getting debted up to buy presents they can ill afford.

"Hey Mr Christmas" by Showaddywaddy was on the speakers in Peterlee Town Centre on Wednesday morning. That's a one you don't hear as much as the other 70s ones, shame as it's a canny tune.

The one you NEVER hear is "The Bionic Santa" by Chris Hill which was a big hit around 1974/5.

Oh, and of course Mr Glitter's offering from the 1980s.

we had a singer at our local over 50,s christmas party yesterday who sang only 2 christmas songs at the start of her act and not another after. didn,t bother me too much but does show its the sign of the times. she looked to be in her late 20,s and from sheffield so possibly the type who wouldn,t.

I’ve noticed that religion is virtually excluded from Christmas at a corporate level.
Odd how the very source of the celebration has been airbrushed out….by the way, I’ve not been to a church since 1995 and that was a funeral so I don’t have a dog in the fight….but other religions are widely promoted.

and all those from other religeons i know do not give a damn about whether we celebrate christmas or not. just like most of us care sod all about the festivals of other religeons and curtailing there festivals. its some of our own who find it offensive in their twisted minds.

I fucking detest Wham and that song in particular
Absolute crock of shit - and the video where he's trying to bone that bird- to find out years later that he was 'Howards Way' all along (though I had my suspicions)!

Irony is that it's a few years now since George had his last Christmas - but we're still having to suffer that god awful tune. banghead

My favourite Christmas Tune of years gone by, which incidentally I'm yet to hear this year is Jona Lewie's, Stop the Cavalry rolf

if you heard your own favourite tunes played everywhere you went you,d end up finding other favourite ones quickly. nothing really wrong with em all but they are done to death.
