On this thread if you can be arsed, We will predict Askeys post match comments.

Win.............At last THEY listened to ME.

Defeat.........Will THEY never listen to ME, Why THEY can,t mark a man.
Been working on it all week.

Draw...........Never took OUR chances, ManniD should have scored that one.
We created chance after chance but if you don,t take them you don,t win.

Fans were Magnificent as usual(We don,t need YOU to tell us that,JOHN.

Good Afternoon!

Absolute character assassination (especially the idea that Askey takes all the credit for good results) but is that's what floats your boat...

On the other hand, I'm surprised you haven't got a great conspiracy theory to explain HUFC's current troubles.

Tongue in cheek, But there,s always one.

Its not a Character assassination.

The players are actually doing that right now (and getting well paid to do it)
Thats IF the latest rumours regarding some of them are correct.

That's the thing - I don't always hear the rumours, and when I do I find it's advisable not to believe them - they're almost always wrong.

Seeing as how you asked.
I have NOT personally been told.

It is being said by some that Askey has fallen out with some players.
Leading to unrest.

True or not who knows.

But to me if the players don,t or won,t show loyalty to the manager.
They should at least show respect to the club that pays there wages
And also to the fans who turn up and travel, To support them.

Myself if it was fiancially viable(which we all know its not) i would keep
Askey and bin the players making sure everybody knows why.

With regard to my assassination of Askey, Remember he assassinates the players
After most games.

It's funny how often people question the players' attitude when the real issue is their level of ability. Pools hardly ever score from dead ball situations but concede loads of goals from other teams' free kicks and corners. Truth is, we haven't had a commanding centre back who knows how to attack the ball with his head since Gary Liddle left.

Liddle and Odusina were a very good combination because Timi had pace to burn and Lids was good in the air and his positional sense was excellent. We let them both leave when it wouldn't have taken a fortune to hang onto them and haven't come close to replacing them - except for Dan Dodds and he's crocked for the season.

None of the players have fallen out with Askey. I know this as a fact.

Except we don't know how much it would have cost to keep them, or even if they wanted to stay.

there is far too much emphasis placed on who the owner of a club is and the manager employed these days. its really how large the owners pockets are and the money the manager can spend. any one at pools would struggle in the same way someone like hartley would do a decent job at wrexham.

By the way the word blanked out in my post is "Thick"

Askey has said so himself, Just uses differant words but means the same.

I,m increasingly finding it difficult to believe the players are playing for him.
Hence the rumour going around, Just passing it on.
It was posted on another football forum.

Hartley would destroy Wrexham the same as he did us by bringing in loads of Scottish no hopers and refusing to play established players at their level.
You can have the deepest pockets in the world but if you squander the cask on inept managers and players you'll win f*ck all.

Only one person could argue with that, Hartley himself.

As a manager in any profession you are not there to be liked, your there do a job, in my profession loads of managers weren’t liked by every one. A friend of mine Supervisor who I worked with was not liked by a few, when he was told his name was on nearly every toilet wall he was disappointed it wasn’t on every wall.

Mr A is spot on. Having money does not guarantee success but look at any level of football and it is invariable the teams with money who are successful.

I'm struggling to understand how Askey arrived last season and managed to get a tune out of the old fiddle he was left with, up to the Grimsby game that is. Then we started this season with him getting a tune again only for the strings to break big time.
Why can so many maintain a decent level of performance only to see it drop dramatically after 5 or 6 weeks?
Surely it's up to the manager to get the best out of them, ie playing like they did at the start of the season?

When clubs have more or less unlimited budgets they can afford to sign a few duffers.
Some one said the other day some clubs are quite happy to get promoted to the Premier League knowing they will probably be relegated the following season but still receive the parachute payment, they can do that season after season. It won’t please the fans but it keeps the owners happy.

there were some like that but there was some others liked and respected by those who they were in charge of. I was one of the latter when i got made up to inspector and shortly after senior inspector. They knew that i would not ask em anything i could not do and never hid when ticket checking just to catch people out running early. Its really a matter of horses for courses and the use of peaples personalities and not changing them for the good of everyone involved.

You reckon? Have a listen to Gary Liddle's Switch of Play session from 1 hour 4 minues in:
https://www.google.com/search?q=Gary+li ... 8tDqI,st:0

The penny pinching by the club that Lids describes is embarrassing to listen to. The final straw came when he got an offer through the post for last season that was 25% lower than the deal he'd agreed to for the first season back in League 2 - and he wasn't on big money to begin with. What League 2 club in their right mind that wants to stay in the EFL would do that? Lids is very clear that he was settled and happy playing for Pools and would have stayed if he'd been treated decently.

It's the same story with Timi Odusina according to Spike Lee's Switch of Play session. Timi was another one who was keen to sign a new contract during the first season back in League 2, but he was dicked around till the end of the season and then offered a paltry increase - bear in mind that Odusina, was one of the lowest paid players on Pools' books because he joined the club as a 20-year-old. As we know, he went to Bradford, where it hasn't worked out for him. This season John Askey has tried to get him on loan but Odusina is so hacked off with his treatment that he refuses to come back.

at least our duffers do not cost millions of pounds like they do at the top level. in some ways i,d love pools to be in the position of a yo yo club between leagues 1 and 2. at least you,ll get some promotions and play more different sides. just cannot see any fun really being a fan of some mid table premier league side who never win anything even if they never go down either as yet another game against say man.u will feel old hat eventually.

even if its all totally true there are a number of fans not overkeen on him anyway and was a lucky lad indeed to get a contract at a club like them. the club might have handled the situation better but there is at the end what they felt he was actually worth to the club.

So you reckon the centre backs Pools signed to replace him and Liddle last season (Murray and Lacey) were better? They were on bigger wages, that's for sure

thats being a bit wise after the event though. actually thought liddle would retire myself and if odusina did not have his pace to make up for the mistakes he made he would have been far worse than botgh who were signed as replacements. didn,t take long for him to be found out at bradford either.

It's hard to say someone who never got a run in the Bradford side got 'found out.' Mark Hughes collected players like some people collect stamps - he never had a clue what was required for a lower league club to be successful or what his best side was.

Linddle was offered a contract for less but the chances are that he wasn't going to be a starter in every game.
At the time that Odusina went it was rumoured that for a raw kid his demands were outrageous.
As for Murray and Lacey, they would ha e played ahead of either Timi or Lids under Hartley who seemed to dismiss most of the players he inherited.

Here we go again. "It was rumoured..." That's not what Spike Lee says happened and he was very much involved at the time - he says Odusina was offered £20 a week extra (just ove a grand a year) on one of the lowest wages at the club. But hey, if a rumour suits your agenda you carry on running with it...

As for Hartley - sure, he dropped Crawford, Ferguson, Feaths, Shelton, Sterry. That's one of the reasons he was sacked after 6 weeks!

He dropped Sweens as well.
And as far as Raj not knowing him, Ive never heard so much bollocks in my life.
There is not 1 chairman in the lower leagues who does not know the person he is going to employ as manager.

Did Lee actually state that he was offered and extra £20 a week.?

Yes - have a listen to his Switch of Play session for yourself.

I haven't got an agenda, whether the rumour is fact or not I don't know that's the nature of rumours.
One thing that I'd be willing to bet on though would be that Bradford gave him a lot more than £20 a week more than he was on with us.

He will have ended up on a lot more at Bradford than we would've paid him but it shouldn't have got to that point. Offer him a fair raise in Feb and that contract would've been signed well before Bradford could even talk to his agent.

Correct. It was Pools who let his contract run down to the end of the season.

As for Hartley - sure, he dropped Crawford, Ferguson, Feaths, Shelton, Sterry. That's one of the reasons he was sacked after 6 weeks!

Did Lee actually state that he was offered and extra £20 a week.?

Yes - have a listen to his Switch of Play session for yourself.

Just nice to know something’s not a…..’I was told’…’apparently’…’supposedly’ or ‘ according to ‘….which I tend to ignore.

The thing that hacks me off is that people can argue the toss that Odusina wasn't the finished article and that Gary Liddle was at a point in his career that he wouldn't play every game in League 2 - but then contrast their performances in the FA Cup and Pizza Cup against the likes of Rotherham, Crystal Palace, Charlton, Bolton and Lincoln City with the absolute tripe that the central defenders we've moved on to have produced week in, week out.

He dropped Sweens as well.
And as far as Raj not knowing him, Ive never heard so much bollocks in my life.
There is not 1 chairman in the lower leagues who does not know the person he is going to employ as manager.

he might have heard about him and studied his career but i doubt he,d have known him like he would have with curle. going to get really controvertial here as our chairman is always seen as the only common denometer in this shit show. however on team matters so is sweens. would he be viewed in the same way if he wasn,t a top ex player most liked.

Sweens is part of the coaching team and does exactly what Askey tells him to do, Its his job.
Think we all understand Hartley was a gamble that backfired.

This current debacle is in the dressing room, but it needs sorting out one way or the other.

You can get a full range of opinions across the spectrum from those with a horse in the race.

Joking aside, the coaching/playing side want to get their act together no matter which side’s right or wrong.
FFS they can ride into the sunset at the end of the day, we can’t.
If you’re paid to do a job, DO IT!!
if I’d hired a plumber, I’d expect him to fix the leak, not go all narky because he didn’t like the tiles in the bathroom, get a grip.
