Best shirt yet - though got to agree would have been better without the sponsors name through the middle of it

all shirts would look better without a sponsors name or any other advertising on them. not overkeen on the shirt colours as it reminds me of a 1960,s rugby league shirt worn by st.helens or hull KR.

Personally.. I would.put my money straight into a poppy tin or buy a wreath that you can get from The British Legion.

I thought I was been a bit touchy when I saw the shirt with that logo through it... Obviously not.

When I saw the logo, it detracks from what it supposed to be representing.

Whoever signed that off wants their arse kicking, and need reminding what Armistice Day represents.

its a slight change of subject but there are other organisations dealing with ex servicemen where all your contributions go to them unlike the british legion with their massive bank balance.

Yeah less than impressed when my uncle was ill and needed some home modifications…. handrails….. and despite being in the Navy during all the war in the Far East, got the thumbs down.
Mind you, he always gave to the Salvation Army, as when the Japanese were advancing he said they were leaving Singapore and saw their canteen lorry on the quay side giving out tea and sandwiches and said he always wondered what happened to them.

That's a fair point, there is of course other routes to helping ex service personal and their families.. Thank you for adding to that.

My late dad born Houghton-Le-Spring became acting RSM in the 1st Bn The Duke of Cornwall's Light Infantry. WWII veteran and POW and fought after escaping with the Italian Partisans. Would never go into a British Legion said they were full of people who were never there. Bit like that Northamptonshire Chief Cons Stable I suppose. Always support the poppy campaign because of my family background and serving myself but don't like that Pools shirt and there are ways to give to where it should go.

The Father in law didn’t mention till 10 years after we were married when I saw a picture of him in a book as a prisoner of war, I and the wife was gobsmacked and asked him about it and said he was caught at Dunkirk, some body had to stay back and he was a prisoner till the end of the war and never spoke of it again…yet some people possibly revel in their war…I recall one at work as an apprentice who was always going on about D Day until someone turned up and recognised him as a PT instructor in the army….he was in the legion, I Tod my Dad and he said it’s a smart blazer thing.

think the more people were involved in wars and experiance the less they speak about it. those who had easy wars or never fired a gun in them are the ones who cannot shut up about there miletary service and all seem to have come out of it with three stripes on their uniforms.

I heard two old hands arguing once and one was bragging about his good service stripes mouthing off about 22 years unblemished service, the other one said 22 years of not getting caught  Touche’.

Not impressed at all. One the subject of military stuff. I went to a funeral a couple of weeks ago in south wales. One Denzil Connick who was a real legend. The funeral was mainly para regt. One guy turned up all decked out in SAS regalia. Beret, medals - including a military cross, badges etc and was giving it large. Imagine his horror when he was ‘debriefed by four genuine ex Para SAS guys and was promptly stripped of his beret etc and marched out of the funeral at double time.

BBC Wales gave the man and the funeral a very smart write up: https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-wales-66890615. RIP.
