That’s the rumour, Danny O’Connor heading your way. He’s a big lad! Great character though and very good at his job.

Hopefully not advising the Pools players on dietary matters judging by the size of him.

You’re right about that thinking back, there was always that ‘bulky’ forward up front to snowplough through the opposition.

as a kid i remember seeing arthur rowley of shrewsbury an all time leading goalscorer and john atyeo of bristol city, a proper legend with a stand named after him who certainly looked good salad dodgers and even in that era they never looked what you,d expect from a footballer. their goals showed a different story.

No, it's just a coincidence that the manager A.A and assistant left at a similar time.

Would that be a ‘pure’ coincidence or ‘quite a’ coincidence….? sctatchinghead

If he is then it will be plenty of KFC buckets!!
No rabbit off, we heard Pools were after him last season too but he decided to stay as he enjoyed working under the set up we had.
With Alun leaving it was an ideal time for him to give in to the offer of being a full time employee elsewhere.

Highly rated. Did wonders with Andrew Nelson to get him playing again after his injury threatened to end his career.

That one baffled me…does a midwife always have to be pregnant because it’s their job?

no, but somehow refs get slammed after a poor performance by fans who always say, i,ll bet he never played the game.

Aye, refereeing the game is far removed from playing the game, because the ref doesn’t care who wins…… (I hope !)

Put it this way, he was a character

He was a character, larger than life, at the time as a daft teenager I could afford to go to every match.
Ken’s time here was relatively brief, he’d been in the Welsh under 21 side I believe and got his fame by playing as a forward and scoring in a win over Port Vale. He went to Boston and did the same thing ther, scoring a hat trick legend has it.
He came back to the town and lived down the Headland till he died recently

Ken and his wife Marion came down to visit their daughter who is a teacher in Rotherham a few years ago and they came round to see us. Now my sofa is a fair size three seater and Kenny made it look like an armchair. He was a big boy but a great character. At corners and set pieces he used to target who he thought was the most dangerous candidate to get a header in, make a bee line for him and clatter him.
You want somebody to command his area, Kenny was yer man. I asked him once what made him go to Boston, he said "I got a £1 a week more"!!!!! Mind you beer was two bob (10p) a pint then.
He started at Wrexham as a boy at centre forward. One day the goalie didn't turn up and they asked Kenny to go in goal. He stayed in goal and got a Welsh under 21 cap. Cloughie put him back in the number 9 shirt. He used to train in a bin liner to keep his weight down.
Smashing feller.
