Semi professional club, does that mean the players are part time, Pools should run them ragged as their fitness levels should be less than Pools, then again we shouldn’t take anything for granted.

its going to be a big game for them by playing an ex league club two divisions higher than they were last season. could be a real banana skin even though JA will be making sure the players have their heads on the game. 2-1 to oxford.

I classed this as an easier than August fixture before the injuries.
And still do.
Cautiously oprimistic wirh a 3 2 victory after surviving 8 minutes of an injury time onslaught.
UTP.

is it time for our first wobble against the weaker side...

its not going to be as easy as we would all expect it to be - they have started to find their feet have Oxford and do have a few half decent players for this level as shown against Solihull last time out.

im going for a Pools 3-1 victory

Mani D on the scoresheet with Cooke and Mani O grabbing his first for the club too

0-2 first clean sheet 2 for Mani D. Oxford I believe are unbeaten in last three which includes 4-0 thumping of Borehamwood plus a draw in last two home games so no mugs more like a team finding it's feet in this league.

The plastic pitch and our wafer-thin squad will definitely be factors. At first glance it might look like an easy away win but three points here will be a great result for us.

I wonder if Pools are training on a plastic pitch to prepare for this? It seems obvious that although fitness and ability are major factors, the team that regularly plays on the plastic will have a big advantage. I think Pools will struggle. Hoping for a score draw.

Pools do have the availability to train on a plastic pitch and listening to Spikes interview on that Podcast with Simmo and Barron - it seemed all we did was train on the artificial grass and he wasnt happy so tried to move training to somewhere over Boro where they have some decent grass pitches - saying that though most of the images now from training show us on a nice grassy area.

I suppose what advantage they gain from the plastic pitch, they lose on the grass surface. I hate artificial pitches.

If Pools are serious about going straight back up they need to sweep these teams away because sure as eggs are eggs Chesterfield will.

Just watched highlights of 3-3 at Solihull and if not for the keeper Oxford would have won. The keeper let a poor slow effort go throw him somehow and a cross he really should have caught was headed in by the player right behind him oh dear yet another pis poor keeper in this league. Oxford have a few good players including the no7 who looks to be the smallest footballer ever to play.

Didn’t Askey say that it’s not beating Chesterfield gets you promoted it’s beating the lesser teams.

Previous results have no bearing on the next fixture and with Pools become amuned to expect the unexpected.
Maybe we see the full season out without a 0 0.
The cleansheet is well overdue but be surprised if its this fixture.

i used to love em. you know the bounce, no running through mud or a bone hard surface and always flat. some players hate them, get injured easily playing on them and others have trouble balancing. apart from the obvious 2 if i was JA i,d ask the squad who likes to play on them and pick a starting 11 among them. cannot see a player turning it on who has been dreading the fixture since the last game finished.

Umerah only has the one goal so far this season so maybe he'll start the game and add to his tally.

Oxford City have 2 players away on International duty. Striker Josh Parker ( 5 goals this season ) is away playing for Antigua in the Concacaf Nations Cup, whilst defender Andre Burley is representing St Kitts and Nevis

Only info out there is vid printer latest scores and whenever the official twitter bloke can be arsed to report. I dont do I follow etc. Grey looping header and then Oxford equalized (absolutely no info) then Cooke scored a worldy but again very little info. Wallace off injured in first half.

Now losing 3-2 with Hastie coming on for Patterson. Dunno if Twitter bloke does for free in which case I have no reason to complain but if he he gets paid, he is doing a pish poor job.

It was very embarrassing. When a central defender stands on the ball and falls over leaving a 1 on 1 it’s not a good look.

This defence is nothing short of a joke, heaven forbid we play a decent side in the FA Cup they'd run amok.

i just carnt understand why he has kept Ferguson in central defence.

Its now 5 2 just shows you just carnt stroll about thinking you just have to turn up this is embarrassing.

5-2. This is seriously a shit show. Anyone who is watching the game got a clue what is going on? Is it the pitch? Is it the heat? Are our tactics wrong? Just wondering because it is a bit of a shock.

Had the game under control but gifted them easy goals again. Too many not turned up / not good enough on the day - ironically 2 of them being our goalscorers.

The problem has been there all season, can't defend to save our lives. Askey needs to change it up, our wing backs can't defend, no protection from midfield, individual errors , not winning headers and dealing with crosses. We were cruising at 2-1 then just totally fell apart. A few of these players just aren't good enough and threw in the towel. This formation and tactics is causing us problems so try something different!
