I would recommend Paul Hartley to the Darlo board.

Manager on a hiding to nothing, no cash, piss poor crowds, can't hold onto any decent players. Armstrong's actually done a decent job until this season.

I would like to see DC go to Darlo and maybe we might be playing them before too long. So that's dad gone from Darlo and Luke kicking his heels until January at Betty's Boys.

And Wrexham have now decided not to appeal and that deal now looks dead in the water.

He's done a good job there Armstrong - even if they have had a poor start. Still think it's far too soon to get rid of a manager. Think they all (regardless of level) .
should be guaranteed 10 games into a new season or contract. Though I did think after hearing Ray Simpson's match report on Tees, that his days could be numbered- he made Buxton (who mullered them 5nil) sound like Brazil.

Reckon they'll appoint a Craig Liddle type or maybe David Wheater- someone that has a long history with the club and has maybe a few contacts higher up the leagues.

Surely It's time for our nemesis - Hodgy to make a comeback- he owes me 50p! :angry-tappingfoot: bbolt

Hodgy or what's Billy Horner doing these days? If they want someone for a seven year plan.

To be fair, he had been doing a decent job for them until this season, but the constraints he’s under put him on a hiding to nothing.
Maybe those in charge should turn the spotlight on themselves?
Financially they appear to be limited and any decent players are off…I think they need an owner with financial clout to bring some stability and a reasonable size ground, because under the present circumstances they’re going absolutely nowhere.

a club gets rid of their best players and then the manager is the scapegoat because he cannot replace them with those at least as good with limited funds. its just the way football works and armstrong would have been called disloyal if he had gone to another club when he saw the writing on the wall.

Looks like the big Derbie has died unless we meet in the Fa Cup or Trophy.
Must be hard to take for the long suffering fans.

wonder if there are less long suffering fans than there were and expect that number to fall even further if they go down. i,d like them to get someone with money into them but not to make them a bigger club than us. their fans deserve better than whats happening at the moment.

Grew up hating darlo but whats happened to them, no fans deserve, they need money from somewhere because they are going nowhere quick. Sad that our derby games seem further away than ever.

As said by others, (on other threads) until they build a realistic ground that would be of league standard, they're basically pissing in the wind.

Hope we get drawn with them in the FAT- would have to be at the Vic though as we'd only be able to take a bus full - and doubt they have proper segregation at Black Hole Meadow.

Agree with all of that especially with the likes of social media we now see the average fans in a different light….. the trouble with the derby games was they become the be all and end all for some people and tended to distract from what should have been a promotion side.

their problem started the day after they were refused entry into the play offs because of their ground a few years ago. nothing has been done or really be able to do to rectify this so really where they are now is as far as they,ll ever be able to go. really just what is the point of darlo anymore at their present ground.

well clubs certainly push their luck in testing how true there fans are at times by knowing there will be a certain number that will always turn up no matter how far down the ladder their club has been taken down.

I wonder if the Loids who took the piss out of our ground and it's bus shelters (as they put it) now wish they had similar facilities. Mind you their chant of "we'll never play you again" has happened. It's sixteen years and counting.

With Kev’s spelling it would be ‘Derbie does Derek’.

Be good to get another local side in this league if were here for a few years. South shields flying at the minute, getting way better crowds than darlo.

Yes, it would be great to see a few more north eastern teams in the fifth tier and hopefully get in the football league at some point, only after Pools have got there first that is.

think the writing was on the wall the second half of last season when the slipped down the league after being in a good position and looked one of the favourites for at least a play off position.

Yeah think they got rid of their best players at the time and that was that. Will do well to stay up way its going.

Lost the best target man in that league in January to Solihull and our most creative player to injury, plus Dodds was recalled to be sold to you lot! All downhill from there. The strikers we had left can’t play the one up front roll either yet we seem to persist with it!

Armstrong looked completely knackered before his time came to an end. He looked burnt out, jaded and out of ideas.

Meanwhile the new manager seems to be full of vigour and fresh ideas and I feel he will be able to steady the ship, then get things moving forwards again.

Yesterday's match was a tense affair however Darlo had chances near the end to get a win but the ball just wouldn't roll well, it never does when you're bottom of the league, also Gloucester had a keeper on loan from B'ham City and he was excellent for them.

i have always said that lucky teams never get relegated and unlucky ones never gain promotion. doubt really the gap between darlo and the team at the top is as great really than it looks on a league table. can say the same thing from league 1 downwards and why its difficult to ever predict a result.
