Longstaff is without a club. He was unlucky enough to do a knee (anterior cruciate ligament) last December while on loan at Colchester. Newcastle released him this summer but carried on paying for his rehab. So joining Pools to start to rebuild his career is not out of the question, IF he's fit enough to play.

makes total sense - although i can see Gateshead wanting him too if he does come available especially as him and Williamson will know each other.

Hoping this is all true tbh because i think a fit Longstaff would be a welcome addition to our squad and really fill the hole missed by Mancini.

was great for Mansfield and helped them get into the promotion places

Bit soon to be back from cruciate ligament surgery though isn't it, maybe more for the longer term whereas we need fresh bodies ready to play immediately.

Either way he hasn't played a game since January so will need games to reach a decent level of match fitness. Be a good signing regardless of if he's ready next week or in the next 6 weeks even.

if he is even in light training with us that should mean he should be back by november to play. know we want someone in yesterday but its still a long old season. get him signed up now if there is no reaction to his injury before some other club nips in.
