Pretty sure this was the same with the men's tournament when it started out. Asia, Africa and North America still have not won it and it was easier for England to win it in 66. Do Uruguay not count their world cups because only 16 teams were involved.

It's the same game played by women. Same sized pitch, same sized goals, 2 halves of 45 minutes etc. etc. Why are you pretending otherwise?

it might be the same games played with the same laws but that is where it ends. you cannot compare kids and sunday league football whichever sex plays it to the international game either.

Calm down. I’m referring to men v women. It’s exactly the same game but played at two different levels.
Will I be cancelled

Of course. There's a restraining order and an electronic tag on its way to your house as you read this. One for the dog too (the tag that is).

Again, I struggle to follow your logic. In what way is what happened in 1930 got to do with modern day football? What has football in Asia, Africa and North America got to do with your insistance that England womens achievement is superior to the mens of 1966?

I dont begrudge the women their success but will not accept the feminist political agenda that follows.

Where did I say that the women's success is greater than 66. You where implying that because it is easy to win it is not worth celebrating. I am just pointing out that when England won in 66, they did not need to qualify and only 16 teams where present so using your own logic it was easy to win.

It was harder for england to win the mens world cup in 1966 than it would in 1930. It will be harder to win the next one than it was for england back then. The game is increasing its world wide appeal like the womens game is but at a much slower pace. If england women do win it as i expect em to do they,ll have a harder time in 20 years time to repeat it. The one thing i can see in the near future is that when there is an international say england v france they will not show whether its a mens or womens international therefore putting them on the same level. Its not either in popularity of playing level and like other sports will never be.

The girls are doing great and I hope they pull it off. I shall be watching the final cheering them on.
I don't buy all this boys v girls stuff. The only time that concept could become reality and settled is if boys actually played against girls.
As that will never happen all comparisons are irrelevant and totally unnecessary. Some sports/ contests etc can be contested boys v girls but contact sports where power, strength and general physicality are involved then it just isn't practical.
When men play in a football tournament they play against men Whereas women play against women.
England's men have never won a men's world cup and maybe never will whereas England's women will NEVER win a men's world cup. And visa versa.
Nothing more to say really.

Someone else on this thread said that the women were "putting the men to shame". Radical feminism as espoused by the The BBC, The Guardian etc. Womens football is not the same as men's football. The comparison is not appropriate or valid. There is a new Hartlepool football club in the town and I gather they were promoted last season. Are we going to claim that they are putting Pools to shame? No? Because the comparison is not valid.

Of course it won’t happen, because if it did it would be a Turkey shoot and carnage if played at the normal tempo.

I see the Council in Cornwall are allowing Pubs to open early this Sunday at 10am without fear of prosecution.

One Publican said he was expecting 8000 people there!

What a load of b*ll*cks! The Pub must be the size of Buckingham Palace, Windsor Castle & Sandringham combined.

On a personal front I wouldn't turn round to watch the game if even they were playing in my back garden.

Well I’m in a minority of one in our house because I don’t get excited over it.
“It’s the World Cup Final”, no, it’s your World Cup Final I tell the wife…..because like the FA Cup Final down the years ( till the money grabbers fucked it up ), there emerges that strange phenomenon of the one match wonder..,the sudden expert, a lot like the Grand National punter ..they hibernate all year and turn out once a year to give forth their ‘experienced opinions’….
How many of those celebrating tomorrow actually attend the grind of the ordinary matches week in week out…so the opinion of someone telling me to get excited and who probably couldn’t even name a player is of little consequence to me.
If you enjoy it , carry on, but for me it’s like asking me to get excited over live coverage of Aldershot v Barnet in the F A Cup….. of no real interest, but if someone enjoys it…… we’ll good for them.

i also have no interest in this final. i also have no interest and possibly less on any mens premier league result today. if i had to choose between match of the day and the lasses final i,d pick the latter.

If the pub is the Watering Hole on Perranporth beach there will be thousands there. They put a massive screen up outside as well as other screens inside. I have been there myself when big games have been shown. The area outside is virtually the whole beach, which is massive. I attended a new year's eve party there a few years ago.
I was there in July. They usually organise music gatherings as well. One is called "Tunes in the Dunes" which usually takes place over a weekend in June.
Not sure about 8000 but there will be a hell of a lot, especially if the weather is kind because that beach gets packed in decent weather anyway.

wait till the women win it in a few hours time you,ll never hear the end of it. its already dubbed as THE world cup final and not the womens one. really its like if pools youth team beat man.city youth team in the youth cup. we didn,t if you think of the first team being pools only we beat the league champions. its our youths that did it against a similar team of youths. however you,d get the headlines somewhere that pools did beat man city and need to read the full report to get the whole truth of it.

Thanks Snowy, yep in-depth report on Sky News when the story of a nurse who murdered umpteen kids appears to be unimportant.

one that plays that game in the harry potter series but will keep it quiet as many of his supporters hate its author because of far right fascist comments she has made.

Some black "personality" claiming England team not diverse enough & too blonde. F*ck me when will people accept it's the best people for the job regardless of colour, race, religion, sexuality, etc etc
This continual calling for diversity only creates a race for mediocrity and worse in every aspect of life from sports to politics.

Agree entirely but the problem is every time your very valid points are made the person making them is called racist.
Everybody is not the same and never will be.
Has this black personality actually checked the natural hair colour of the England Women's squad to see how many of the blondes got it from a bottle.

Calling "racist" immediately shuts down the debate so the stupidity of diversity for the sake of it cant be challenged. We all need to call it out whenever we can.

got a feeling its only a black personality that would pick a squad on race and colour rather than ability. they would pick a team without any white lasses in if they could or have a token blond for diversity. they are the racists not the majority of those who they obviously have no likeing for.

or reggie artists seem to be very black. who gives a toss but them if morris dancers are usually if not always white and a west indian carnival with floats consisting of black people. the latter is perfectly correct but morris dancers are members of the KKK in their spare time. know who is and what is to blame for all this and it aint the average bloke in the street no matter what their skin colour is.
