God knows how many crossed the channel in these past 7 days but it has to be nearly 2500. It is now becoming just plain madness and cannot continue.

Obviously the French are turning a blind eye even after we have given them hundreds of millions to help them. Every vehicle approaching the French coast should be stopped and searched for any type of boat, looking at the size of the boats they wouldn’t fit into a car.

But they will deflate.

Britain spends £500,000 a year to keep Channel migrants' boats piled up in a car park in case the 'owner' comes forward to claim them - and now plans to build a £2MILLION processing facility in Dover. I can’t see many owners coming to claim them ?

good job they do not come over in jumbo jets then, escorted by the RAF as heathrow and gatwick might have to shut down to store em. just imagine if they did and all the shit the cabin crew would get if their on board grub as not up to their high standards. really wish i had the ability to do a spoof video about something like that on the lines of those old hitler ones.

Daily update;

Sunday 18th 333 Migrants in 7 boats.

These have got to be "universal" boats as it appears the average per boat is c50

Mr Sunak can you please get off your arse and do something positive?

Have we come to the point where these boats have to be classed as an invasion and sink them on sight, cos I'm being slowly convinced that is the only answer. Tell the French that we'll sink the boats as they set off. Communicate to the traffickers that any boat that manages to set off will be boarded in the Channel and ALL traffickers are shot on the spot and the boats sent back and sunk in the shallows.
What else can we do to stop this because the French are just letting it happen and doing that deliberately in my opinion.

Surely a conservative uk government is best placed to solve this issue.

Other than the solution that I've offered, I haven't heard a decent offering from any Party or Politician.

My prediction is the numbers of people crossing the channel will increase, there is no way of stopping desperate people.

The numbers better be stopped or you’re looking at a problematic future.
They’re coming over because ALL Party’s are as weak as piss.

So disappointed by this thread as well as the climate change one. I thought Hartlepool folk were better than this.

There's not a solution in sight unless the French agree to take them back. and that's going to happen just ask the Italians. That greaseball macron must be laughing at us.If only we had a few islands like the one in Papillon eh.

This is just a collection of like thinkers. It seems to happen a lot nowadays right across society (so don't feel like you're being singled out Bunkerites). There is an aversion to hearing dissenting voices so people congregate in their echo chambers, nod sagely in agreement with each other and invent names and insults to be thrown at those on the other side of politics or religion or whatever. There are people in Hartlepool that think differently. They'll tend not to be here where opinion is different.

You mean you’re disappointed because they don’t share opinions because naturally of course you believe your opinions are the correct opinions and should be deferred to.
Doesn’t work like that.

Loads more people apply for assylum in France than in the UK. We are not even in the top 5 in Europe. When you've lost everything and Assad or the taliban or whoever just want you tortured dead and forgotten then you'll cling onto whatever comfort you can. Whether that's having family ties you can connect with or a language you are familiar with. And still most refugess are put off the long treck that brings them to our shores. We are merely doing our bit and from what I can see, not disproportionately so.

Maybe if we didn’t fuck up the middle east under Bush, Blair, Obama and Cameron we wouldn’t have a crisis.
The country is like a lifeboat, pull too many out of the water and it capsizes…

It manages it on its own pretty well too. Human beings are all the same. Good ones, bad ones, ones, desperate ones.

wonder why they do not put women and children first though or look after them first. is it a case that women and kids have nothing to fear from these regimes they are escaping from. doubt it but they are prepared to leave em for the unknown.

No one said they aren’t ….. but most people crossing over here are economic migrants as evidenced by the Greek tragedy in a BBC World Service report from Pakistan, where families expressed their dismay at sons going away to make money and one father said his son was being naive.
I don’t.
Your knowledge of vessel stability leaves something to be desired …..as Samuel Plimsoll would say.

Would I leave my wife and kids to fend for themselves in a dangerous environment… in the hope we’ll be able to meet up again in the future…simple answer is no.

just think what would happen if you did and were found out. you would be tret in the same way as if you were a nonce. again it shows the difference in thought, actions and priorities of different nations

we will never know the full facts where putin is concerned. news from russia can never be fully relied upon and the media is so anti putin anyway so what we do hear will be a biased account anyway.

You mean the guy who invades his neighbours, jails, poisons or chucks out of windows his political opponants, is wanted for numerous war crimes? I wonder what could possibly slant their view of him.

To be fair, Putin has the look of someone on the ‘Hot Dog Diet’….sort of…constipated.

its always been russia bad and anything they can dig up on their leader is fair game. doubt the countries putin has invaded are squeeky clean either including its leaders. as for invading countries well we are not saints in that matter along with the land of the free.

I keep hearing & reading the word desperate to describe the migrants.
I imagine some are,but the majority look fine, decent clothes, mobile phone in one hand, packet of fags is the other.
Not a sign of a desperation to me.

They are desperate…desperate to get here.
Regarding the boats…from the costs quoted, wouldn’t any refugee and family for a lot less money merely fly into the UK and then claim asylum?

They wouldn’t be allowed to board the plane with out a valid visa Snowy, it’s the airline’s responsibility to check if a passenger has the right to enter a country.
As from 2024 U.K. citizens will have to complete an online form called ETIAS to enter Spain I think for all EU countries costing 7 euros, it allows to stay up to 90 days.
Hard luck for the ‘swallows’ who ventured south for the better climate rather than suffer cold wet weather in the U.K.
Another ‘benefit’ of brexit denying people the right to work, study and live in the EU, no wonder younger people are annoyed with their elders who voted brexit,
It’s quite ironic that some of the expats voted for brexit and now find themselves in the position of applying to stay there or be deported.

Why don’t they apply for Spanish citizenship if they like it that much. It was offered to the Bingo jet setters.
As for me, a confirmed ginger, I can’t stand the bloody heat and my deep joy is a walk on a typical cold shitty day on the beach…it must be the Viking in my DNA.

Applying for Spanish citizenship is not that straight forward, you have to go though the Spanish Consular either in Manchester, Edinburgh or London. You need a Medical Certificate and Health Insurance, try and find a company who will cover you for Health Insurance if you are over 70, there out there but very expensive even more if you have pre existing conditions.

Regarding the boats…from the costs quoted, wouldn’t any refugee and family for a lot less money merely fly into the UK and then claim asylum?

desperate just to get anywhere in europe. richer hey are the better choice of a country there will be. again how many of us could afford to pay people smugglers for the return journey.

If you lived in a really, really shite country, would you do everything you could/risk your life to get to one that is perceived to offer a better life?
