hope Finney and Kiernan stick around - think they are both more than capable of doing a job for us in the NL - especially if Kiernan plays further up the pitch. Grimsby fans rated him when he was on loan to them at that level too.

a lot depends on what you want from next season. the finneys and kiernans of this world plus the rest retained will be fine if mid table obscurity is regarded as the best. if a top 10 minimum is wanted then we need proven better players that fit in. Its fine competing and getting results from the divisions no hopers but you have to compete against the better clubs also. the gap from top to bottom will be much greater than it was last season.

If we start next season with a midfield of Crawford, Featherstone and Sylla where are the goals going to come from?, if you haven't got goals in midfield it puts too much pressure on your front two.
If it wasn't for Kemp's 9 goals we would've been relegated months ago, unless we can find or unearth some goalscoring midfielders I can only see a bottom half finish next season.

Cooke has goals in him, but the others need to up their anti.

Sylla won't be here but we'll need someone of his ilk, please God Featherstone isn't at the core of our midfield again, can't see him figuring if JA wants more athleticimsm tbh. Crawford was starting to play well in the promotion season but not done a lot since, hopefully he can get back to his best with a full pre-season behind him. I would expect a physically strong midfield capable of controlling games will be a priority for next season.

do think you need a featherstone type in mid field and at one time i thought crawford might have been his replacement. thing is him and anyone else do not all have to be up to league standard as we are not playing in it anymore. its just a team we need who individually may not be the best in the league but would beat 11 individuals on the day who are better. thats what JA got with macclesfield promoting them.
