Had a good chuckle there, we have the subtitles on the TV and instead of saying Major Andrew Dickinson it came up as Angie Dickinson

Also the organ in the cathedral sounded like a five year old was playing it.

Must add watching it under duress.

Penny Mordaunt looked lovely and did a great job.
I really enjoyed the show especially the military precision and, like Pooly Imp said, the music was awesome and so where the choir and singers.
I was pleasantly surprised.

Green dress surely? One of us is colour blind - or has a TV on the blink.

Anyway, the hottest woman in the H of C, which is saying very little. Never voted Tory in my life but she could swing me if she played her cards right. bbolt

I some times doubt the mentality of the people who run tv stations, I don’t think they have any idea what people like to watch, no wonder people subscribe to Netflix, Amazon etc. Ok some might have missed out on yesterday’s event but it’s the constant harping on about who there what they were wearing how the royal kids were behaving, even YouTube is inundated with clips.

Getting the wife to give up her access to things like this is like approaching a mother tiger and asking if you can stroke her cubs….it won’t end well.

Luckily coronations don’t come around every four years and don’t last a month, something to be thankful for.

let sky tv have the full rights to show the world cup, coronations and everything else they push down our throats. think there would not be as much coverage before the events then.

The highlights of coronation looked as if it was well organised no wonder it cost around £100 million, shocking.

I suspect the just over a billion spent by the visitors will compensate.
Tourists coming to visit the changing of the wheely bins outside President Sunak or President Starmer’s will be a niche market.

Joking aside, you make a great point about spending by visitors.

Using the arguments made by others, we would never ever host a world cup again. Russia spent 16bn USD on the world cup in 2018 and only got a bit back. Brazil spent even more in 2014.

Can we ask those companies who benefitted from the "over a billion spent by the visitors" to pay a bit more towards the costs currently being paid for by general taxation? A bit like a windfall tax on the power companies.

I would guess they are primarily in Central London so it could be it could be an additional Business Tax collected down there.

Most will be small traders so you’ll get no ‘windfall tax’ but they will be paying tax on it….. so the Government will benefit from it. Again, do the maths.

I can’t see the vendors selling souvenirs, ice cream and hot dogs etc passing much on in tax.

That's pretty harsh on the whole souvenir/snack industry. Calling them all tax dodgers.

the whole propaganda machine was worse than the whole affair. local news saying coachloads of people going down from barnsley for the coronation. the number who travelled was 80. the same number who we take the mick out of if a team only takes that number to the vic.
