Heard from someone who has links with the club that the reason Sylla hasn't been in the squad is because he is on a basic wage of £400 p/w and if he had played another 2 games he would've trigged an automatic extension of that contract so been advised by his agent to not play. If true, can hardly blame him like considering the likes of Hastie and Cooke will be on well excess of £2k p/w. He is getting on after all and if he can secure a contract somewhere on £1.5k + I'm sure we would do the same

If he is on 400 quid a week then he should start by getting a new agent.

Sorry but just cannot believe he would come to Pools for £400 p.w. I know Pools are not the best payers in the world but I do believe some are on £1500pw.

Must have been on more than 400 at the shots, surely.

i agree it sounds absolutely ludicrous how low it is but comes from a good source in the club, definitely makes you think how bad the contracts are at the club if its true

Why would he come for that amount…if it’s true.
He had no trouble putting in a performance prior to this for the alleged £400 a week….. did the ‘someone’ who knows ‘someone’ not ask what the increase would be…?
End of the day he came with his eyes wide open just like his agent.
I suspect as Askey goes into the summer market, tales like this circulating are all he needs to reach potential targets.

Sounds like 'someone' is mischief making.

Ive heard the same rumour from a good source - although no mention of wages where made. Same sort of theme and that he wanted out and his agent had him the move sorted too. Ive even heard he has a move abroad sorted so i doubt we see him monday either.

400 notes a week... hes worth more than that but seriously who knew who the lad was prior to his arrival at Pools - was a star man at the shots and im sure they will have offered him more than 400 to stay there.

The lads been quality, genuinely one of the best Tackling mids we have had in the center of the park for years ! shame its ended this way but like everything this season what was good has turned to absolute dog shizzle !

its upto Askey and what ever backroom recruitment staff we have left to find his replacement for next season as building a good spine is crucial. Doubt Feaths or Cooke will be here either.

In heard a rumour that all those rumours are just rumours and not truths.

not about the money but i have heard similar stories in the past when suddenly a player drops out of the side for no reason fans can see.

it must be the truth if you read it on social media. its a rumour or lie if someone tells it face to face. its a funny world now when people are quick to believe anything from strangers they have never met when they read something.

The £400 a week story is bollocks. This is what Askey said about Sylla:

“You wouldn’t think that certain players get paid for playing. You’d think as though we’re doing them a favour by allowing them to play for us,” he said.

“I’ve met some of the most selfish individuals I’ve ever met in football.”

Askey’s squad selection against Barrow left little to the imagination as to which players he was referring to. "

Anyone think he'd have said that if Sylla had come to him and said 'Boss, I'm only on £400 a week?'

it always shows that some should not have had the luck to become pro footballers. those like us who were not quite good enough or hadn,t a clue would have made better ones because we love the club and the game.

Looks like he's been a definite unsettling influence since he didn't play at Grimsby, but can't deny he is everything we've missed in midfield for 4 or 5 seasons - ball winner, mobile, quick.
Won't be missed for as a person, but I'm sure JA will be looking to sign a few with his footballing attributes.

You can have the skills in the world, but if you’re an egotistical talent who disrupts the cohesion of the team you’re a disruptive influence and undermine team spirit.
Whoever they are, they can ‘Fuck right off’.

I just don't get this Sylla situation being responsible for the wheels falling off in the last few games.
Were all the the other players so upset by it,that they turned in dogshit performances against Newport,Salford & Crawley.
They're supposed to be professional footballers & grown men for gods sake.

a few young lads in a team can get their heads turned by a team mate with a real strong personality. thinkit must have happened to us when starting a job when we were young when we might have followed the wrong person.
