Interesting team. Kemp not in the team or on the bench. Umerah on the bench. I think he has picked a team who wants it more. Going to be interesting, very interesting

Wondering if that team will be pretty much the first XI when we startr our NL campaign? Hamilton wont be there because he's on loan.

Hamilton is dreadful so won't be a miss.
Askeys got a job on getting rid of a lot the dross we've currently got on the books.

In his post match interview when asked about the team selection Askey said he just wanted to pick players who had a feeling for the club.

Todays team played well and fought hard, just puts last weeks performance into perspective doesn’t it?

Well I definitely got the feeling the team Askey picked yesterday was more motivated. Would agree the best Pools have played all season. For a team who have been relegated they played with so much confidence

They gave a daft goal away like we have been doing all season - as Askey said we let the ball have about six bounces in the box rather than clearing it - but we showed a good mentality to get back into the game.

If we can keep that mentality, get rid of those who don’t want to be here and also strengthen in a few areas (defence being the obvious one) then we should do ok next season.

its not just the defence its central midfield as well where we are lacking. just hope JA does not forget we needs goals to win games with us having the best defence in the league next season but struggle to score. it would be easy for him and anyone else to overcompansate for this seasons mess.

Since Askey took over the football has been attacking and at least good to watch up until the Crawley shambles. I don't think Askey is a defensively minded manager. The mobility of players and forward moving midfielders didn't happen under Curle or Hartley.

I don't doubt that he knows the weakness of our midfield. We need a couple of Sylla types - mobile, strong, good tacklers, to break things up and get the ball to the more creative player. For too long the midfield has been too soft and detached from the forwards.
Askey knows what's required for the season ahead, he's got the t shirt, just hope he can get shot of the deadwood and get in what he wants.
