Well done Pools. All though not many chances, defence solid, midfielders working some triangles. Game spoiled a bit by referee but I think we can take this 1-0. Look like a league 2 side tonight. Just as good as Newport.

Please dont put the mockers on it! Pleased we have gone a whole 45 minutes without conceding. I cant remember the last time. Fingers crossed.

I’ve seen a lot worse from Pools recently. Most importantly there’s no lack of effort or passion from the players. It needs more direction but they’re trying which is an improvement in itself.

One bright spot is the young Arsenal lad Foran. Looks a different class to most of the other 21 on the pitch.

I guess Newport would be more than happy with a point whereas we are desperate for the three. The Welsh probs sit back and catch us on the break as we gradually take more risks to grab a goal.

By the way, other than Prutie, Pools players seem to have the touch of a rapist.

God this is dire!
You’ve got to feel for the 122 Newport fans who suffered this after a long journey on a Tuesday.

Surely this manager has to go.
There’s clearly something very wrong with the tactics, selections and training.

According to my betting account, Pools had 5 shots, none on target. Newport had 14, with 1 on target, obviously the goal.

No creativety in midfield means nothing for the strikers to feed on. I’m afraid we are down. This side is just not good enough and only marginally better than Hartleys side.

Poolie 1966: I was going by Sporting Life Video printer site. As you probably know you click on the score and it takes you to a text description which also contains a stats page. It says Newport had 3 shots off target and five on target. It says Pools had 3 shots off target and 0 on target.

And just like that, the season is finished. I said we needed 6 points, that is now gone and yes Mr Hogans, the season is in the bin.

The complete ineptitude of some of those so called footballers tonight, namely Niang, Clarke and Finney. The basics - simple touches, heavy, can’t get out of their feet. An embarrassment. I will also call into question the effort, unfortunately I didn’t see it like others, aside from Pruti, Foran and Kemp.

I’ve said it for a few weeks now. Curle out. Sweeney in. Let’s try and salvage some pride because what a stain on the achievements delivered by the miracle man Dave Challinor.

Wow. That has to be one of the worst games I've ever watched in my life. Definitely top 5.

First game I've been able to watch this season so I paid the tenner and watched it.

Is that game a true reflection of how we've played this season or, I'm hoping, that was especially shite?

Why was Ferguson on the right and Pruti on the left?

Why did our only chance of a goal (from a set piece) get subbed on 88 minutes?

That is, pretty much, Curle's team and fuck me, they're absolute dog shit.

I remember, years ago, getting called out when I said we stood a reasonable chance of staying up during one of the many relegation dogfights but I genuinely saw that bit of quality here and there from 3 or 4 players who, on their day, could win us a game.....but this lot? On that one performance, I can see literally fuck all. Nothing.

Please tell me this performance is the worst and you've seen better because if not, then we'll be hard pushed to find 2 worse teams than us.

Why do our keepers stay on their goal line at corners! Any ball in the six yard box should be the keepers, their goal was a joke. 1 step forward 3 steps back. Based on tonight's performance we are fooked

Let's Face facts and look at the truths.

Hartlepool United are no longer a Football League Club.
We are operated like a NL club, a good squad full of NL/Poor league 2 & over the hill players. Looking at Free agents even though we have a squad of 30 or so.

We punched above our weight last season, last February after Colchester Game, we were only about 8 points off the playoffs. Then we won basically 0 games for the rest of the season. This season a 12 months on we are a point above the drop.

I honestly can't see us picking up any more points. Crawley home, Newport away will beat us. Then all other clubs we play are pushing playoffs or titles.

Left back swings in great cross for last minute equaliser. Three days later he is playing right back. Have we nobody else in the squad who could play right back? Cuties reaponsibility today. Clarke substitution was odd. I could have understood if we were getting balls in to the box but we weren't. It needed to change with grey and McDonald maybes. Ball on the floor. Some poor performances from some players but the manager needs to take responsibility for that. Why weren't we set up to attack even down one flank? Basic stuff.

Trust me, it was worse if you were there. Absolutely shocking 'entertainment' for 3,900 paying customers - unless you were from Newport. Even the lad with the drum has given up. I'm not sure if I've seen a worse performance from Pools even in the National League.

Well, the people who wanted Featherstone out of the side got their wish - hope they are properly impressed. How Niang stayed on the pitch for 90 minutes beggars belief, he is clueless - can't even trap a ball. Finney is a waste of space, as is Jennings. Curle should have made 2 or 3 changes at half time - instead we waited an hour for the inevitable appearance of Clarke - who is so off the pace it's embarrassing. What a surprise!

What did Keith Curle think he was waiting for? Pools were atrocious. Newport's goal was inevitable - just surprising it took as long to come as it did.

Hartley was woeful too, kept falling over, miskicking and his heading and clearing was dreadful. Pruti at least looked like he was trying.

It was obvious from the Carlisle and Colchester games Hartley was a liability, but it was easier to blame everything on killip

Clarke signing is embarrassing it’s like the Bob Moncur days, I half expect to see John Trewick and Jade Sinclair lining up !

Curle tells the press he would have taken a point last night and a point on Saturday, says it all. We’ve drifted from game to game - there’s always the next one - there’s still time. I’m not convinced any manager has got the players there to compete but Curle and his prehistoric approach to tactics and team lineups needs to come to a close today - to be replaced by Sweens.

Feaths also still not the answer unfortunately - has been run ragged in all of his last 4 appearances. Not up to League 2 standard, like most of them.

We have one ball carrier - and good player (along with Foran, Sterry and Dodds only) - in the team and that’s Kemp, the rest are laboured, slow and unimaginative in their play. He’s also escaped criticism but Umerah is off the boil, albeit dealing with scraps, but I’m quite sick of seeing grappling and inevitable free kick after free kick given against him. Bang out of form and ideas for the big man.

In saying all of that, they are hamstrung at the moment, because you can tell they aren’t enjoying the football they are being deployed to play. Hoof and hope.

they were real game changes and without them we,d possibly have got a point. a game where both sides should have had a points deduction just for calling themselves a league club. as for those 5 shots, well i can remember fergusons one early first half and kemp putting one into morrisons car park the second but not the other three.

Why do I get the impression that Curle is on some far superior ethereal plain above us mere mortals and actually believes he is taking the right course to save us.
I think it’s bollox.

I don't like snap decisions so ive had 24 hours or therabouts and it's KC out for me. Just for playing Ferguson at right back. Just for that alone he needs to go now. Just f he'd played him left back and told him to swing the ball in the box at least there would have been an effing plan.
