No not that one.

The Chief Exec of North Tees & Hartlepool hospital (NT&H) has decided to "step down". For a couple of years there has been a joint Board with South Tees Hospitals (STH) paving the way for a merger. The NTH CE is unlikely to be replaced. The NT hospital is falling apart.
Once this merger gets underway you can only see services heading to STH from NT&H.
Basically another Middlesbrough takeover just like when Hartlepool Housing was "merged" with the others on Teesside.
Some powers of Hartlepool Council are also planned to be handed over to organisations under the control of the Teesside Mayor.
Its all heading south as they say!

and BBC radio Tees is going to be sharing more content with BBC radio Newcastle with only morning programmes being broadcast by Tees.
Even now if you switch between the two stations the same records are played at the same time or within minutes presumably to save on Performing Rights payments?
No doubt Newcastle will dominate this.
This bit is heading North i bet!

Listening to the Ambulance crews and Paramedics on TV regarding strike action and one of their complaints was that across the country, A&E’s we’re closed usually with the same ‘script’ to justify closure. The result for them was having much further to travel reducing the calls they could actually answer in a shift and the resultant queue’s of ambulances when the did get there to the limited number of A&E’s result…a worse service.
The people in charge don’t give a toss, if some women in her 70’s has to travel via three buses to visit her husband in hospital, they’ll probably pat themselve’s on the back and call it progress.

Tees has already cut back on presenters, the early morning show used to have 2 now it’s only one, the weather presenters cover Newcastle, Tees and TV.

They amalgamate basically because they can’t get the medical staff, let’s see if they dispense with some of the highly paid executives.

I used to call it ‘Radio Local’ and imagined the presenters wore velvet jackets, kipper ties, flares and platform shoes…..tank top optional…. The ladies all wore Kaftans…….Smashy and Nicey for the beige brigade.

Aye but they still send at least 3 to Boro homes games and at least 2 to an away game that could easily be done with using commentary from the home teams local BBC station.

I reckon if you comment on the Boro matches it’s in your contract that you get the screaming ab dabs everytime you score a goal and actually believe God has a season ticket.

Look at what we’ve lost over the past few years and the jobs that go with them..Hospital services lost.…Courts closed….etc, it’s as though the towns being turned into a dormitory town.
Talking of hospital services, took the wife to James Cook last December…access by public transport must be a nightmare and despite arriving early couldn’t get parked…if you move more services there it will be a calamity.

In 2021 this was the population of Teesside.

Hartlepool 92k
Mbro 144k
Redcar and Cleveland 136k
Stockton 197k
total 569k

So why is any discussion on the tv or radio amost always about Middlesbrough??

Always been the same since the formation of Teesside County Borough in 1968…then we joined in 1974 to form Cleveland and we went into a slow decline…..for some demented reason, probably of Geography, they have always been regarded as the capital of Teesside, desperate for city status.
Once your town’s destiny is taken out of local hands you are shafted, but Hartlepool has been plagued by poor Council leadership since the early 2000’s.

I had to use the train for James Cook, runs on an hourly basis, it’s a fair walk from the hospital to the station, not ideal for the elderly or disabled. North Tees I used the courtesy bus from our hospital, I wonder if they will run one to JC if they amalgamate.
I didn’t realise because of my treatment JC would have provided transport for free.

I ended up dropping the wife off at James Cook and took the dog to Stewart Park for a ‘ new scent rampage’ till she phoned to be picked up.
That’s progress?

It's all part of the dumbing down of small towns. Too much of the public purse has to go into paying gold plated pensions. Can we ever believe 'levelling up' will work

yes, its just the same down my way. what does rile me is that either side of the local hospital there are parking ree for as long as i can walk a couple of miles they get sod all out of me.strictions about a mile either side. once past this on a wide main road there aint any. forcing you to pay the hospial rape parking charges. it doesn,t work with me.

Wynyard is technically part of Hartlepool BC, though they keep very quiet about it
https://www.hartlepool.gov.uk/news/arti ... s%20future.

Stockton is a 3 town borough - Stockton, Billingham and Thornaby. The posh gits in Yarm wish they were in North Yorkshire, but they are SBC too. Ingleby Barwick, also SBC, is the biggest new housing development in Europe - though with less amenities than a decent sized village.

Stockton Borough has always been bigger and richer than Middlesbrough. The problem historically is that back in the 19th century when the coal industry and shipbuilding were generating money like nobody's business, most of the profits went to the Londonderry family, who used to own Wynyard but never came near the North-East unless they had to. So the good old 19th century civic pride that gave Boro, Darlo and even Hartlepool impressive town centres passed Stockton by - bugger all was spent there.

As a result, even people who live in Stockton think of Middlesbrough as the big town, and of course they all support the Borer. Anyone who thinks not having a League football team doesn't diminish a town's standing should just look at Stockton.

The population of the town of Stockton on Tees as opposed to the local goverment area area is 84,000….less than Hartlepool.

Which in a nutshell means there's a town in UK with a population of 200k that only a small percentage of the country knows about tbh..

The point I am making is Boro ain't the dominant place in terms of population so why does it get regarded and is economically seen as the capital of Teesside.
It's a horrible town surrounded by some nice places.

For a number of years I used to go through for the car serviced once a year at the dealers as we only kept a new car for three years then….I’d get dropped off by the garage and had three hours to waste in Middlesbrough…after dragging a breakfast out for half an hour, you found out there was bugger all to do…..haven’t been there for years apart from driving down the A66….

middlesbrough is like stockton and most other towns of similar size. even if you have some shopping to do and get something to eat we call em 2 hour towns where you can do everything you want in that period of time. at least they are 2 hour towns where in hartlepool you can shop till you drop in the half time interval.

and i just seem that a Mayoral Development Corporation is being set up under the "levelling up" agenda that can take control of Hartlepool Councils assets.
The Fail has just reported that Brougham Enterprise Centre is to be sold off.
Family silver anyone?
