Ah…Colchester first match proper I took my eldest son to on 2nd May 83 age 5….a strange day, rained as the sun shone, we got utterly tonked 4-1….. he fell in love with Pools and still has a season ticket despite living out of town.
I do feel guilty sometimes

Funnily enough our old fella banned me and our kid from going to Pools…he went but you didn’t cross him…what happens…soon as I start work, bollocks to him and I’ve been hooked ever since….any fool can ‘support’ a big club….it takes a special kind of cut above the rest fool to support Pools.

I am sure there was only just over 800 at this game. It's also one of only 2 games I have ever walked out of before FT. It was 4-0 with a few minutes to go, I went home and we scored when I was crossing the car park for the number 6 bus.

You’re right, it was a pathetic crowd, but on the bright side there was plenty of free movement, there were busier prairies.

I was never put off, but the crowds reflected the sad fact most people were put off.
Plastic mags in 83….? Never heard of them till replica shirts became available when Keegan the Messiah walked on water.
They’ll be due to reappear again like hibernating meerkat’s if the Geordies have any success.

a win is needed. had the choice of last week or this to attend and i plumped for this one therefore its bound to be a defeat of some sort. 2-1 to them and the new keeper man of the match.

Even a draw is not going to do us much good so a win is a priority so come on Curl pick an attacking line up and get any negative players on the bench and dare I say give Featherstone a rest, what is there to lose.

hope we go for the winner if its a draw after 80 minutes and not settle for a point. if we did lose at least we went for it as 3 points gained is worth the risk. time to be brave and not act safe.

That for me would be the sign that madness walks the corridors at the Vic and Curle cannot be taken seriously.

You do wonder what gets in the mind of Chairmen & Managers when nearly every Supporter just sees something completely different. Perhaps they are right and we are not?

Curle has Westie in the stands to point something he may miss, Surely he must see what we see.
I know he,s defending him, But there comes a point of no return.

Colin west is a total knob and hates our fans and is only here for a wage simple. And yes that came directly from his mouth the last time this waste of space worked for this club. rakxe

They are temporary custodians, they don’t really feel what we feel.
They may think they do, but they can’t possibly know.
To them it’s a holiday fling, a brief liaison, to us, it’s a marriage…..!

We hate Colchester U...cause they beat us 6-2. OK it was 1976 and now is now. Pools 1 Colchester U 0 4,150 (191) Scorer: Josh, who else?

Hope Curle sees sense and plays Sylla---and am praying to Christ we dont see Murray and Hartley in the same back 3--that really will be the ultimate piss take.

If Killip plays and Sylla is missing, we deserve relegation, we are embracing relegation in some macabre dance with despair.

Will there be a protest against:

a. His Rajness's programme notes?
b. Curle's selections?
c. The home defeat?
And
d. Will the protest be at half time, fulltime or both?
e. Will any protest get a tad chewy?

Asking for a friend who has to get a train.

Funny, we beat Rochdale last weekend and the atmosphere in the ground was brilliant. Are you going to the game tomorrow? If you are, will you be doing what the rest of us are and trying to lift the team to another home win? We're in the shit, the only thing that will save the season is the players busting a gut and the fans support. Protest at half time? Not a chance. Dejection at full time? Very likely, IF we get beat.

Nothing pompous intended. If it was gallows humour from you, fair enough. Personally I don't know whether to laugh or cry with Pools at the minute, just hoping for another win.

I have never anticipated or took so much interest in a team sheet as I’m taking over this one this afternoon, it’ll tell us all we need to know if Killip’s in goal for starters and Sylla is on the bench.

I think you will get your wish and Killip will be on the bench, if the new keeper doesn’t play his home club will be telling Pools he is not there for bench warming. Sylla, we have signed another midfielder so I couldn’t hazard a guess if he plays or on the bench.

Everybody agrees with Mr Snowy eventually, Ask Ratboy.

With regard to Sylla, Sure i read somewhere he has played CB before, Just thinking when Fergie/Shelts was shot in there.

No Kev, like Scrooge in the Alistair Sim version, I was a fool to believe when my natural cynicism should have made me roll my eyes in contempt.
I’m cured now.
Ratboy’s a born cynic, no cure needed.

Yep I gather he can. So can Dolan and Niang so there are options though maybe Niang is still not quite up to speed after his long injury lay off. If it is down to choosing between Sylla and Dolan to play in central defence, I guess KC will have to decide who is the most effective midfielder and put the other one in defence.
