Matthew Etherington as manager, Ex Posh U23s manager.

Big Gamble.

Isn’t every managerial appointment a gamble? We gambled on Neale Cooper and won. We gambled on another Scottish manager and lost badly.

Exactly, all appointments are a gamble, even at the very top…. The conditions for success at one club are not necessarily a recipe for success at another club. Leeds proved that with Cloughie…..too many factors, no pitch related to bugger things up.

Hoping this is a deliberate reference to his former gambling issues. If I remember rightly he lost serious sums to Teddy Sheringham playing poker.

Am I right in saying Cris Turner was coaching the under 23s at Wolves prior to appointment as Hartlepool manager, that was a gamble that paid off.

You remember, he went to Sheffield Wed and became Crisis Turner…. Mr Jamie was ahead of the field in anticipating it. :naughty:

a must not lose game anyway. results againt other strugglers are more important than shock wins are against those at the top. something that kept charlton and burnley in the premier league for years when they concentrated their effots against the lesser sides.

Bloody 'ell he didn't last long. Either the chairman is very decisive or trigger happy. At any rate, it seems all is not well at creepy.

The fans at Crawley weren’t too fond of their now ex manager by the reaction of their fans when we played them, surprised he lasted as long as he did.

Crawley fc at the moment is a circus, And the clowns are running it.

The same clowns who tried to take over Bradford in the summer, And were ran out of town.

Sold their star striker to rivals Gillingham as well, naturally the fans aren't happy about that either!

Another example of how the "people" who run football clubs are completely clueless and most not fit for purpose.

I would imagine the management team will be quids in after working 32 days but need an education in not accepting anymore poisoned chalices.

Crawley Town Football Club can confirm that assistant coach Darren Byfield will take charge of the team for today’s match against Stevenage and Monday’s game with Newport County. Club co-chairman Preston Johnson will also be in the dugout to show his support to Darren, the staff and the players.

that should be on the transfer window thread as it shows what we are actually up against. we need to be doing similar business.

Gillingham some how have just been bought by a yank sugar daddy ... another sorry excuse of a club in freefall that will get lucky and buy their way out.

yes im bitter as it doesnt happen to us and we deservedly need that type of cash and ambition from the owner !

they may crawl out of the shit they are in given Nichols in the side now and few more expensive additions... we have to hope we are out of sight and signed our own decent lot of lads by the time they rebuild and start to gel. We have seen it with Stockport... you cant just shot money at something and it instantly work.

also isnt Crawley closer to Stansted ?

Crawley sits on the side of Gatwick Airport but Stansted is in Essex where the M11 splits Essex from Hertfordshire and biggest town would be Bishop's Stortford (in Herts)

Very bad case of 'careful what you wish for' for Crawley fans.

the day we are owned by a yank or an arab is the end for me even if it did bring success. will never sit right for me especially anyone from the land of the free. i just cannot abide them or their country.
