If you listen to the meeeeeeja, we could have scrapped this whole qualifying routine and just let Brazil and France play the final…. They’re obsessed!

Mind, some pundits want an Argentina Portugal final to watch Messi and Renaldo play against each other……
We’ll see about that.

I can never understand why so many people are so in awe of Farage, Farage has stood for election to the House of Commons seven times, in five general elections and two by-elections, but has not won any of those elections. He is probably a millionaire by doing nothing apart from standing on the cliffs of Dover with a pair of binoculars counting the boats arriving.
He is constantly harping on about too much immigration, fruit and vegetables are now rotting in the fields, farmers have decided not to grow so much so now we have to import them from the E.U.

He always does. I've never known anybody throw so much hate at the right wingers but, with the next breath, says he wants to keep them in power. They're the ones who stripped you of your beloved EU, Jamie. or have you forgot.

The right wingers only stripped me of the EU because it was their only way they won the last G.E..You are totally out of touch, the right wingers who look after their own, the billionaires/millionaires etc, like Sunak, you class yourself as one of them Derwent, I keep asking people including you to tell me currently the benefits of Brexit, the U.K. farmers are now cutting back in fruit and vegetable production as they are rotting in the fields as there is no one to collect them. The result we are having to import fruit and vegetables at an increased cost.

UK businesses are struggling to recover their European trade to pre-Brexit levels, according to fresh research.

Over 40 per cent of British products previously exported to the EU do not appear on European shelves since Brexit, according to a newly published paper by the Centre for Business Prosperity at Aston University.

Almost half of British businesses that traded with the EU pre-Brexit are doing less trade with the bloc, or have stopped entirely, since the UK left the single market and customs union in January, according to a new survey.

So how does the rest of the world outside the EU survive without being in the EU sctatchinghead
I can still buy all my European favourite foods in Tesco at just about the same price, if they aren’t buying our products it’s a blatant sign of pettiness on their part.

So Jamie thinks I class myself as a billionaire. That is taking nonsense to new heights, young man. If I was, Pools would not be bottom of the league. You regularly pigeonhole people but rarely get it right. In this case I wish you were right.

Derwent the Right Wing politicians look after their own, they have no interest in the working class which in general we all are but for some reason people forget that.

Now that i am retired i dont like bank holidays as they disrupt my timetable. I would much prefer if he gave free bus passes to over 60s rather than having to be 66yo. :)

an extra day off with pay when you want to take it is better. or a free railway pass for us old gits where you pay 25 per cent of the advertised fare.

Got to say I'm mystified by the obsession some on here have with the whole subject of 'wokeness.' Other than getting aerated by stuff read in the papers or online, has anyone on here actually had their own life affected one iota by it? Any real life incidents to share with us? 'A trans woman spilled my pint' - that sort of thing?

I always volunteered for every Bank Holiday except Xmas Day as you got the premium time, only on standby and best of all off when everyone else is at work, so you aren’t fighting Bank Holiday crowds/ retail sheep.

personally no, but it does not mean it cannot happen. its just the ideas about that do not sit well with me. tend to mix with those with similar views to myself as well. surely extended sex education to kids who do not know what sex actually is cannot be right. its getting to a point when on some subject islam might have a point.

exactly. remember those news items of the queues of sheep going to the coast on wank holiday in august. they did it year on year. rather wait a couple of weeks and go on a tuesday even if the kids did a sicky as they,d learn as much on a trip out. was a regular christmas day worker till the buggers decided not to work anymore.

Do you know the biggest shock I got during the pandemic was the way Sunak operated the furlough scheme. I never expected people to be given 80% of their salaries. That was surely helping working people. Much more than I expected.
I don't know of many left wing Governments who look after their general public either.
Right wing /Left wing, they're all politicians and tarred with the same brush. I don't think there is much hardship in the Politburo.

What you can't appear to grasp is there are people who couldn't give a monkey's cuss about the opinion of a newspaper on a subject that that those same people have moved on from. We had a referendum which produced a result. If and when we are given another referendum I will resurrect an interest, as I've told you before. When the next General Election takes place I will probably join in on discussions over that but I can guarantee, to you or anybody else, that I will accept the result. I may not like the result but, until another opportunity arises, there is nothing I can do about it, and won't waste my time trying.
You like discussing Brexit which is fine but you need to allow other people, like the brexiteers on here, to choose to put it to bed. You think it was a huge mistake and are entitled to think that but you have to accept and respect that other people haven't got the same remaniac (c, Snowy) passion as you.

Oxford, Otley or the Orinoco - don't have any family or friends there and don't really care. My question was 'has anyone on here actually had their own life affected one iota by it?'

It's like the Harry and Meghan kerfuffle. I'm not a royalist so couldn't care less about their family squabble, much less what the papers say about it. They're even less interesting than the Sussex who posts on here

If you lived in Oxford you’d be affected….unless you don’t have a car.
And what one bunch of yoghurt knitters do, the rest follow.

that sums it up. i,m all right jack till you are affected. its really another experiment but can see em going out of their way to make it work then bring it in to every city and then towns from the largest to the smallest. i,m really sure this will make those in india and china see their errors of there ways in killing the climate. its so funny you could laugh.

If you live in Oxford, the ‘city’ is to be divide into several zones and you can only pass through an adjoining zone 100 times a year and that covers every car in the household so two cars fifty journeys each….your car has to be registered with the council an all zone boundaries covered by number plate recognition camera’s ….a bit like living in Hartlepool and if you visit the headland that would be one of your journalese for the year…taking kids to school or going to work will be a nightmare.
The usual guff response from the council is bus, bike, walk or E scooter…..try doing the big shop with any of them will be a nightmare…..oh, and the Lib Lab Green coalition council have told the people of Oxford if they don’t like it, tough, it’s going ahead.
Answers in the ballot box, or is it, but most Party’s are as soft as shite …… they’re trying to control your very movements, we’re going backwards.

I feel embarrassed when activists waffle on about we should be setting an example the world will follow…. they sound like they’re talking down to the entire world as though they were addressing people in some outpost of Empire. They really are that arrogant yet can’t see the irony….a sort of ‘let’s all suffer’ to set an example to the sinners…… tell you what ‘you suffer’….because when you crackpot shenanigans start to restrict the ordinary folks lives it’ll end overnight.

That referee would not be fit for non-league, whole world cup fouls being given to South Americans being touched by a falling feather but our players were continually fouled in dangerous areas and nothing. He even needed VAR to award the most blatant penalty. Small margins decide these big games and he provided them for France.

[quote="Snowy"]If you live in Oxford, the ‘city’ is to be divide into several zones and you can only pass through an adjoining zone 100 times a year and that covers every car in the household so two cars fifty journeys each….your car has to be registered with the council an all zone boundaries covered by number plate recognition camera’s ….a bit like living in Hartlepool and if you visit the headland that would be one of your journalese for the year…taking kids to school or going to work will be a nightmare.
makes less sense as you can leave your b
oundary for another but need to drive outside the city and round it to then re enter at another point. like owton mannor to the headland where you,d have to go back to the A19 and back down again to the headland once your number is up.

How he needed to consult VAR for the second penalty is beyond belief, the French player never played the ball or even looked at Mount, he just bulldozered him of the ball, there were loads of these quite blatant fouls he just waved on constantly, that apart we had our chances but……. same old story.
Mind you, so much for this French super team drummed up by the media and so called best player in the world who had a couple of runs and spent his time grinning.
Come on Croatia.

I like that name remaniac, I am passionately as you are well aware, Derwent it’s good for people to have different opinions and not to be like sheep.

There was VAR so why wasn’t that used more in the game or were they all that bad, over the years Pools have had more than their share of bad refs, including the play off final, unfortunately it’s part of the game after all the refs are only human.
If England had won I am sure they would be no complaints about the ref, the 2 Hs made contributions to the game, McGuire for not picking up Giroud and Kane for the penalty miss, he is one of Southgates favourites, undroppable, personally I don’t see him as an inspirational captain. Looking at the comments the 2 subs were tactically inept ?
This was one of Englands best chances to win the World Cup with the talented squad they have, whose fault was it, Southgates or is he unsackable, has he taken England as far as they can go, is it time for change, Potter or Howe ?
Would Southgate get a job with a Premier League club if he was sacked or resigned ?

V AR and the rugby video ref are used too much for me and tends to be used for to chalk off goals and trys rather than give them. Do we want games sanitised even more as mistakes are part of the game and would be boring without them.

In the days before Sky ruined football there only 1 or 2 cameras at a game, Sky came along with I believe around 20 cameras. The refs were then put under severe scrutiny, VAR was supposed to help refs. out but isn’t always used correctly.
Brian Clough said he really used to enjoyed watching MOTD on a Saturday night then along came the introduction of pundits who spoiled it.

and there are those who want more local decisions to be made that would make councils even more powerful. i,d want less involvement as the local clowns seem worse than th westminster ones. no dispespect to bus drivers or shelf stackers but do you want ameteurs from these jobs running your lives.

It's brilliant for people to have different opinions as long as they can accept that others have different opinions without calling them names and referring to them as sheep.
