Not a bad day for pensioners.
10.1% rise in April plus £300.

Not to good for future oaps as the state pension age is up for review in the new year.

Decent news for minimum wage workers.

Average energy bills up £500 to £3000 a year with no more help.
Ouch. :angry-tappingfoot:

Got to get the Putin excuses in even tho the tory cranks av been in power for 12 years.
Opinions welcome thats what keeps the bunker ticking over.

For many of us OAP's it seems a decent budget, although the extra pension will bring many more into the "paying tax bracket".

What I can never understand though is where they talk about this and that with dates starting or ending quite a few years ahead. Are they going to be in power in 2028 etc etc? Surely if Labour get in within the next 2 years they could/would reverse some of these policies.

The other thing I think is funny is how they act like laughing dogs, nodding their heads on the front row.

Very childish behaviour from Hunt yesterday slagging the Labour party while delivering his speech.
Should of at least showed some etiquette and finished his speech off first. :angry-tappingfoot:

Was on the news a few days ago one of the southern energy companys made a profit of £500 million in 6 months. A bit of government savvy n decorum could of limited profits to half that figure so Trusses 2 year price cap could of been honored and helping the residents of our once great country.
The Putin excuse for these energy companys is just legalized burglary.

Then Hunt spouts off a load of shite that hes saving the average household £500 a year on energy costs.
When in real terms our energy bills will go up £900 a year from march to April due to £400 discount ending. Add in the Council tax rise which for some bizarre reason hpool is the 4th highest in the country.
Then the average Hartlepudlian will be a grand a year worse of not including food n drink price rises.
Nice weather for ducks again.
UTP.

think the old one about the economy being safer under the tories might have been shelved for good. worsed figures for 40 years and guess what who was in power in 1982. ok there are reasons beyonf there control same as when labour were in power i suspect. best thing any young people can do is look for jobs elsewhere as the country is knackered. no dingth diver situation altered, hs2 to carry on and no reduction in VAT that millionaires pay the same amount as someone on benefits. we all know the council tax will go up as much as possible for even less a return we will all get out of it no matter where we live. for the average person the whole statement will have little or no effect on them.

It doesn't matter how you dress it up. The energy prices will be £500 more and for most there will be less help - unless of course something unusual happens next year like a one off £150 payment.

The energy bills now are ridiculous. £3000. Thats what it will cost me as we sit on the average. Yes, we get a bit of help but it's just too much, and as for the government, they keep on changing things which makes it impossible to work out a budget.

So you sit in a cold house feeling down. Try explaining that to any politician.

Ask a MP any party.
How much they pay for Energy, And Fuel, And Council tax to name just a very few.

Then how much they can reclaim by the rules they brought in.

Then ask them to give you a look at the Green Book. (or whatever its called now)

You think Energy companies are wasters.

I've mentioned before that I read my Gas & Electricity meters every Wednesday and I turned on the gas central heating for the first time this Autumn after the 9 November reading.

16 November reading showed that I had used an extra £18.81 of gas but with the government help of £400 over 6 months which equates to £15.36 per week, the extra cost has been £3.45.

Yes it is an increase and the weather is most likely to be colder as we enter the Dec/Jan/Feb periods and the weekly costs will be higher but generally I think it's not too bad.

My Electricity by the way does not alter that much with the last 6 weeks being £24.33, £24.33, £26.98, £25.65, £27.95 & £25.98.

one thing for sure is that if you have shares in energy companies that warm glow of extra profits you make will keep you warm this winter.

I’m not a betting man, but no.
A by-election possibly, but people generally return to their political fold at general election time.

its always classed as a wasted vote by so many when we all know under first past the post system we have they,d have more chance of getting into power than pools have making the oremier league in 5 years time. if we had PR them and others would get more representation. back to the best of two evils for the majoity of folk.
