Could quite fancy playing them in the early rounds of the FA Cup.

They've signed Lewis Allesandra and Michael Woods this summer as well as Gary Liddle and Martin Smith. Blair Adams was already there, so that's getting on for half a team of ex-Poolies!

Wonder if this is the season they finally make it up to the National League North?

I recognise the Shields team more than Pools.........

Careful what you wish for. Imagine the humiliation if they beat us?

I wouldn't be too concerned about that. Shields are 3 divisions below Pools in the league pyramid. Pools' record as an EFL club against what the journos are pleased to call FA Cup 'minnows' is good. The last FA Cup humiliation was Blyth Spartans with Shearer the 12th man in their dressing room. We'd need to be having a terrible season to be that bad again.

Apart from Smith, all of the ex-Poolies are at the veteran stage of their careers. None of them were quick to begin with!

on paper with the players they had they should have gone up last season. possibly having a team from the past might not always be their best bet in getting promoted. way they are going they,ll be giving out complementary tickets for players grandkids.

Remember Jamie Sterry came from South Shields so this could work in both clubs favour sending youngsters or players regaining fitness out on loan to gain experience and getting first option on any of their best players.

rather get stuffed by some southern nonentity as it would not feel as bad. not bothered either if we did get beat in round 1 as having that cup run last season didn,t seem to help the budget on players.

The cup runs created the best budget a pools manager has ever had with marquee signings promised before 1st September.

The club made a profit last year, had highest gates for God knows how long and were left with this mess of a team. So what sort of mess will we be in if we go down and lose money this year?

I think the problem is with unbudgeted money that it goes towards the debt owed to Blackledge. If that is the case then that same debt ought to have reduced significantly.
Mr I will know more.

Sorry, I'm still recovering from the last time we played a North east non league side in the FA Cup! It's a no from me!

I'd be very surprised if Scunthope won tomorrow.

We could reach round 3 get a big team away, but we still wouldn't see any of the money spent on the team. As long as we avoid embarrassment, we might as well concentrate on trying to stay up.

Well done Shields today. Let's have Stockport County at home and wipe the smirk off DC's face when we stuff them and Paddy Madden throws a paddy and misses a pen and gets his marching orders. Mind you DC could have been sacked before then and replaced Keith Curle. Now that would really divide Poolies better than Truss and that lot.

my view exactly. if we won the bloody thing it might increase the budget to bring in a free transfer from carlisle or morecambe.

So in lehmens terms you are both saying the Chairman is a bit/lot stingy.
Dont be afraid to offend a very very small minority of our fans who unbelievably still worship him.
At the end of the day its a results buisness and the reason we cant get them is down to the main man and his reluctancy to run the club with a tad of ambition.

raj saved pools which no one can deny. however he cannot live off this forever. got a feeling if we are relegated that attendances will drop much lower than they did last time around unless we are fighting for promotion. hope he realises what a big season this is.

no one will get the chance of welcoming him back no matter how the situation pans out with curle or challinor at stockport. he will not be offered the job again or really be interested in it.

Raj is living off Dave Challinor a rejuvenated rhys oates and the astute signing of Armstrong. We were still fortunate to get promoted, long overdue luck, think we would all agree. Raj did a brilliant thing saving us, steadying the ship and getting us out of that hell hole.

It's no good doing that, then putting us back into it, with a far worse squad. We had real momentum when we came up, to just cut off the tap when we came up was crazy. The reason we made so much money last year is because we had a half decent team, a profit according to Hobin. So why on earth sell everyone and anything? Even poolie1 can probobly grasp if you sell your best asserts, your going to go into freefall and lose money.

They have taken us for mugs this season, almost to the point of lying to us. It's easy to say we just missed out on a prolific striker, we have been saying that for 18 months, it's funny the signings we actually do make aren't even close to prolific, signings we have made barring 1 or 2 wouldn't get a look in at darlo, let alone a club pulling in 4500 to 5000 fans paying London prices to watch utter rubbish. In fact the scary thing is we might be playing darlo next season.

What can we do to change things, the trouble is you feel powerless, a sort of bystander watching a crash in slow motion….. on continuous replay… that’s the trouble.

No, don't want DC back. Was just wondering how split Pools fans would be if he did hence the Liz Trust comparison. Ok revision. SCFC and on the eve of the game he is fired and Paddy throws a paddy and misses a pen and Pools stuff 'em. Worst draw would be Plymouth Argyle away. Great for me and the boys and girl, nearest team but horrible for all the obvious reasons.

Thankyou for understanding that was then but this is here now.
Thing is we could quite easily turn into a Scunthorpe situation.
We live in desperate hope that better times are on the way. Like i said last week take 22nd in division 4 for as long as this current chairman is captain of the ship.

Do you fully read a post or just react to key words like Pavlv’s dog?
The fantasy, which WE ALL HAVE, to actually support Pools in the first place, is to succeed.
I asked who’s going to take over, I’d have no trouble with a new owner, I’d welcome the change frankly. but where’s he coming from….? That’s the infuriating part which you ignore.
I do not accept failure, I endure it, which is far from accepting it because WE as individuals are prisoners of circumstance and have it would appear zero input into club matters which is what happens at all clubs.
It’s like being locked in a car with a tear arse driver on a long journey and thinking just stop, let someone else drive, but they plough on and you can’t get out….. you just hope it runs out of petrol or the driver sees sense. ..but we’re still motoring and grabbing the wheel is not an option…… it’s called being trapped and hoping for a way out….and hanging on. :o
Trouble is I’ve been trapped in this fucking ‘car’ several times down the years. .

That's the thing what can we do? Pretty much nothing. Sounded like we had interest last year, if rumours are to be believed. I just don't get what we are trying to achieve since we got promoted. If we're relegated we will lose a fortune or is raj just playing a game of Russian roulette, hoping we somehow finish 3rd bottom. The fa cup to me this year is a non event. How on earth are we going to string two wins together to reach round 3, to draw a big club, even then we won't see any of it put into the team.

its all our hearts that the problem. a love for pools is like the love of your life who you,ll do anything for but get little in return. turning up more in hope than expectation is the poolie thing. other clubs expect a win, we do not. if we all obeyed our head instead of our heats we,d walk away and it would be up to the club to persuade us to return. said it many times that the club is lucky to have so many of us and really do they deserve us even if all we offer is moans.

Being a fan is like being married, you have your ups and downs, money is always short and the other half takes money off you but never gives much back to please you, and you’re kept in the dark about just where the money went…….. but you can’t live without them.
And they know it.

I admit all the info I received on Hartley was duff, but I never anticipated how bad it would be….. but there’s a lethargy about the place and I suspect Curle to be more of a mind games type of manager with his players when realistically we need a Cyril Knowles fear of God manager to instill them with a sense of purpose at any price.
This lot don’t need analysing, they need terrifying to do what they’re supposedly capable of doing.

Trouble is I’ve been trapped in this fucking ‘car’ several times down the years. .

Couldn’t help thinking of this when imagining Snowy trapped, hope it works
