Let the football do the talking. Clearly not as wised up as some on here thought he was… came across like an entitled little shit as well. Hopefully now we can save our season.

I wanted to give him 12 games before making a judgement.

It was painfully obvious after the Walsall match there were issues

System (if there was one) was dreadful

It didn't get any better.

Let’s see how quickly events move on. Is there someone in the wings?

He’s gone, referring to the bloke as an entitled little shit wasn’t necessary.

Not even thanked in the club statement…sadly I think the damage has been done with the recruitment, in some ways not sure what we gain by sacking him but also the shite couldn’t continue
Huge game next week !

According to the article posted earlier, there is someone possibly coming in next week with Singh having had advanced talks with the replacement

A Boro guy then?

Allegedly an appointment within a week is the hot rumour. No doubt there will be the usual speculation.
If it is a week the club will be going away from their usual due process, or maybe they are in discussion with Messrs Sweeney and McGuckin......again.

Whoever comes in is inheriting a mess of our own making. An understaffed, imbalanced and uninspiring crop of players, made worse by the fact that we’ve given some of them 2 year deals.

When I said we’d struggle to replace Molyneux’s goals, I wasn't wrong.

Graham Alexander seems to be the name mentioned.

Molyneux’s goals weren’t guaranteed, he had one productive season, even Challinor had his doubts.

Mols would improve our current team ten-fold. He was a big loss as highlighted by the dross brought in to replace him.

Merely stating an opinion on the comparison between those players we once had versus those we’re now saddled with. I know you had a lot of confidence in PH but it’s time to get over it Snowy!

He lived around the corner from us, lovely bloke off the pitch…. no prisoners on the pitch.
I was told when he retired from the game he got a job as a foreman in an abattoir….probably scared the animals to death,
He used to go on the Rec to watch the games Sunday morning with the pet miniature Yorkie complete with pink ribbon….some wag said it was a snack.

As my Dad is not a football fan, Can I assume he's similar to a John Macphail / Mick Smith type of centre back?

Don,t know how true this is but, Was listening to radiotees post match.
And one of our fans at the game txted, and said both Murray and Hastie were swearing at our supporters.
If true would that be a sackable offence.

If i remember rightly at one time he lived opposite brierton field, Used to come over when we were having a kick about.
And just basicly kicked us about.

Can still picture him coming out of the tunnel on to the pitch in the middle of winter with a short sleeved shirt on.
Now a days they won,t enter the field if thier hairs not straight, Posers.

Just goes to show how times change, there’s me late away from pools after the match aged 16… queue for the No 6 bus opposite the Odeon… Gilly comes galloping up and jumps on the platform of the double decker and sits on the long back seats downstairs, right opposite me and you know when you want say something but don’t….. we both got off at Tynebrooke, never a word passed …

No but you did spend the summer telling everyone how assured you were of Hartley. That is a fact. Especially when others told you to just hold your horses… and here we are.

Curle on the other hand… I’ll happily say he might just be able to polish the turd he is inheriting.

I was just getting behind the new manager at the time, it’s traditional.
Heard good reports from sources in Dundee so saw no reason for people to slag a bloke off before he even signed which I found as baffling as you find the opposite viewpoint.
Anyway it’s a sorry business closed, and to be honest I feel let down by what happened.
Curle will need support though as he gets to work attempting to ‘herd the cats’ on the pitch.

got to say that the timing could not have been so bad for him. on current form pools are playing the most winnable game they could have got next satyrday. suppose if it was left a week he might have been able to play his get out of jail card with winning it. now we,ll never know as a new saviour will get the credit for turning things around. actually the inability of the team to see out games has been a recent problem and we could easily be looking reletively safe on 8 points now. whoever does take over has a mammoth task ahead of him. firstly to win over hartleys signings from day 1 if they were very close to the old manager. not that easy a task if they were close as i know myself. then there is the fitness issue which itself will not go down well with players who prefer ball work. he will be stuck with the squad come january unless there are decent players out there still on the look out or can engineer some sort of leaving by mutual contract and picking em up. shades of oldham and scunthorpe last season for me i,m afraid.

Most people's assessments include a fitness issue. The return of Sweeney to frontline coaching, especially if he takes training like he used to, will probably help to put the fitness issue right.
It's up to Curle, West and Sweeney now. And then there are us fans, so let's give them a chance and our backing.
They have a big task in front of them, that's for sure.

giving anyone our support and backing is the least and only thing we can do. its counter productive if you want pools to do well not to do it. hartley to me was a scottish equivelent of harrison with both not really knowing what they let themselves in for. doubt there are very few poolies who will be mourning his departure even if they think the timeing is not ideal. obviously the no more free agents will have to be scrapped, or will it.

I suppose this appointment gives us all hope that all is not totally lost. Going to be a hell of a job for curle to turn this mess round. At least part of the cheap Scottish experiment is over.

Reports like this one are making it clear that what we already suspected was true: Hartley was a divisive figure who favoured 'his' players signed from the Scottish leagues over the ones he inherited. https://www.thenorthernecho.co.uk/sport ... t-pay-off/

What to do about the Scottish lads between now and January is a tough one. Tearing up a load of contracts isn't an option when the squad is so small. Can Curle & co. get a better tune out of them than Hartley and the invisible Gordon Young did? Only Niang would make Pools' current best 11 on merit.

Curle being a centre back hopefully he might be able to sort the defence out, great to see Sweeney back, big mistake for Hartley not to involve him, not sure what Wests role will be.
