It's that time again, O's versus Pools. Seems like it's been a lifetime of battles give or take the odd year. We're having a good time at the moment but this is Orient, we have a collective PhD in disappointment so, on paper, this should be a win for us southern softies but how many times have we thought that? Given the rail strikes etc, I guess we won't see many blue/stripe shirts in Leyton. How's your collective confidence about getting something in the capital?

I haven't been to your place since decimalisation, has it changed much?

Did I read that someone on this board wrote "Henceforth" in a post? Seriously impressed! I'll see if l can work in a "notwithstanding" or maybe a "hereinafter" into the discourse :-o

Was at Leyton County High in Essex Road between 59-64 so brings back happy memories when I would go down Brisbane Road, mainly for an evening game.

For a short period of time had Phil Woosnam as PE Master whilst he was playing for the O's. This was the time when the players trained in the pub at the top of Brisbane Road!

Think you need to come on here and tell us how it's done. We seem to be incapable of putting a good team together, while many of our fans like to live in the past of it been poor old Hartlepool and just settle for 2nd best all the time.

Good to see your doing well. A proper football club and always seem to have decent fans. I can't see us getting anything but a tonking Saturday, but you never know, stranger things have happened. Well actually no this lot ain't capable of stranger things.

Doubt many will travel, lot of the hope has gone now, the buzz we had and should still have has been destroyed and the club seem intent on having issues with the very group of fans that helped turn the club round and created the best atmospheres in the lower leagues.

Since decimalisation, just about 50 years ago.
Obviously our teams playing each other hasn't changed in the lowest tier of the football league but you look the part this season so good luck with that effort. I've been to Brisbane Rd a few times over the years and always enjoyed the day out, regardless of the result.
Being the eternal optimist I reckon we'll nick it. We have to turn the corner at some point so why not Saturday.

I,m going to be fair to the manager (Think he,s incapable like) We should/could have had points from all games, Apart from Walsall.

Bewildered by the tactics or lack of.

Remember going to a match there and being in a pub after. It was hilarious with our respective accents creating a bit of a communication problem but it was all light hearted banter and we all enjoyed the night.
Know what I mean like!

I was at Brisbane Road last season. What made the hammering worse was the optimism before kick off. We'd just had two wins on the bounce including our first away win and Challionor's impending departure was still a secret. I dont think I'll go this year.

Last season's top scorer Aaron Drinan still injured, talisman midfielder Craig Clay won't be available yet either. Our big fella up front, Harry Smith, pulled out in the warm-up last week so he's doubtful. We can get about 20 minutes out of defensive midfielder Jordan Brown as he regains fitness after a long lay-off. Paul Smyth and Darren Pratley (Capt) are usually subbed after about an hour for a mix of hamstring and age related considerations. We seems to be a team of sickies at the moment, fill yer boots Pools!

Phil Woosnam and Cyril Lea are still regarded as the best midfield pairing in living history. There's not that many of us still living who remember them.

At the present rate Pool’s will need to find the boots first, confirm they are boots, try them on for comfort and reject them……a photo of a team ‘filling their boots’ would certainly help.

Lived the other side of Lea Bridge Road in Walthamstow but Leyton County was the nearest Grammar School, with George Moneaux being further away near the Billet Pub.
First real girlfriend lived in Easington Road, behind Whipps Cross Hospital where Alfie Hinds lived. Him of prison escape fame who had his garden dug up in August 63 following the Great Train Robbery, with Mr Plod thinking he was the mastermind.
Phil went out to the States and started footie big time out there and died some 9 years ago aged 80.

Dunno if you have looked at our goal difference but if you have you will have noted we cant hit a cow's arse with a banjo. If Orient are as injury hit as you claim, it could be a 0-0 but otherwise only one team will be filling their boots.

Why don't you play your youth team against us. Oh hang on a minute that didn't pan out too well last time.

Is there a strike this weekend? I do hope so since it provides an excuse not to go.

Great CAMRA bar at the ground, as long as you get there really early. I'll be missing this one though. I can't remember the last time I saw a Pools win at Orient.. and I've been to a lot of games there.

Am I right in thinking that we won 4-2 with a brace from James Brown. Was that the last time??

We last won at Orient in March 2016, 2-0 with goals from Paynter & Thomas when Higgy was boss.

I am sure we won at Brisbane Road in the National League. Jonathan Franks scored one and Rhys Oates the other in a 2-1. I believe it was a live game on BT Sport. We also got a 0-0 there in the season Orient got promoted to the League. In fact Orient never beat us in The National League Pools won two and drew the other two.
