It's also reported here so it will most likely be happening.

Fair enough as we're well covered at right back and the National League is probably more his standard. I'd still like to see a few more coming through the IN door; hopefully this helps pave the way.

looks a done deal - even the Mail have gotten hold of the story now so must be true ...

hearing that we are due to offer Hartlepool Born Sunderland Player Ellis a chance with a loan - down to him atm i think. Cant see it like as he did well against us the other night and has just broken into the fringe of the first team so can see him wanting to stay - Sunderland have hardly made alot of signings either.

Hobin speaks of Marquee signings on the way - was speaking to lads on Monday who had spoken with him at the open training and he said 2/3 incomings with at least one being a big name. Cant imagine a man in his position to chat shite to actual supporters - all 3 lads whom i spoke with where present aswell so wasnt just one man talking out his bottom end.

Would like a new Midfielder (attacking) and a new winger then i think we go safe and pad some key positions out with loans just incase. Also another forward (poacher type) wouldnt go a miss either - to challenge the new lads for the top spot.

Can’t imagine him chatting shite to supporters? It’s literally what he does regularly.

Shelton? WE haven't enough players as it is without losing him, only just enough to fill the bench with current injuries. Shelton is good cover.

Shelton and Carver could probably do a job for Darlo.
We also need to make sure Niang plays in his best position and only slots into central defence in an emergency. He's the midfield ball winner we have needed for like ages.
This kid from Palace on loan would be a welcome addition as well, Scott Banks???
It's taking shape.

the league has limited all teams to a maximum squad number of 22 plus under 21 lads and keepers. over that number they cannot get a squad number till someone leaves. does not give the club much room to bring more than a couple in if nobody leaves.

carver would be ideal for them but shelton is better than that level. if they did get him it could be classed as their marquee signing.

accy..."the league has limited all teams to a maximum squad number of 22"

..didnt know there were any efl rules on squad size but looks like the rules for this season are now down to 20 outfield players ...keepers and under age 20 not included...

"Are there any Squad size limits in place?
League One and League Two clubs will be limited their squad size to 22 players for the 2020/21 season. This will be reduced to 21 and 20 in subsequent seasons (2021/22 and 2022/23 season respectively). Players aged under the age of 20 are exempt from these restrictions."

you can add the championship clubs to that as well although their number is higher. who thinks of stuff like this up or is it a way to keep wages for the players who are left up. no wonder non league football is improving year on year with pro footballers having to drop into it to carry on with their careers. for me its better having 30 lads sharing the playing budget than 20 doing so.

I am surprised they get away with it. What does the PFA say about the restriction of job opportunities for their members.
The ideal number must reflect the need for cover for each position as a minimum, surely.

exactly. its up to clubs what they see fit. it does not mean the size of a squad is buying promotion either. just another way of this attempting to level things up falsely. its bad enough with the transfer window never mind this.

Until Premier League clubs more so the top six cease paying exorbitant transfer fees and wages then kids will never get a chance.

If it turns out to be true, him being only 19 means his presence will not affect our ability to sign players aged over 20.

Whilst I was aware of this lad through local contacts I did not know who he was and did not know he was starting for Sunderland. However half way through the second half I said to the young chap next to me that I thought the young kid in the number 3 shirt was very promising. He then told me it was Ellis Taylor. Now wether he can manage in ‘mens football’ we will have to wait and see but I must say he did not look out of place against Pools.
