It was sounding great till you mentioned that. We are injury phobic on here due to Pools unfortunate recent history with players who never seem able to get off the treatment table at all.

Saw the report on Football League World, hope it comes off. How's the Palace transfer window going Mr. SE25?

Our injury record has improved greatly since PV arrived and completely changed the back room staff.
The transfer window is a bit strange, we secured Sam Johnstone from WBA and Ebiowbe(?) from Derby on free transfers. We have (apparently) secured the signing of Cheik Dacorue from Lens for about £18m, this has been held up by work permit delay. We are very excited about him, very highly regarded defensive midfielder who was previously linked with Spurs.
Flynn Downes was at training ground ready for medical, when his agent took him to sign for West Ham!! His agent is the daughter of Mark Warburton, West Ham’s assistant manager, so they would have known Palaces offer, not the first time WH have done this to us.
Hopefully a couple more incomings and some outgoings.
With regard to Banks, have done a bit of research, it was one bad injury which he seems to have recovered from, he really is a very exciting prospect. If Dougie Freedman rates him, he is good

I nearly coughed my tea over me reading this, till I realised it was you, our Palace chum. Your user name is similar to a visitor from Stockport and when I saw £18m mentioned for a signing my turbo boosters fired up asking where’ve they got £18m from. rakxe
Then the penny dropped  bbolt

Glad I'm not the only one, although, considering Stockport fans rarely exhibit intelligence and decency, I quickly realised he was a Palace fan.

it was a good watch. I knew a few in it and they spoke without jingoism or any revelling in death or glory nonsense. This is the typical attitude of almost all veterans. I know Spud Ely and Chris Waddington well and have met most of the others at association AGM's. Both came across honestly even though Spud always has an eye on selling his books.

edit: I forgot to mention Rob Lawrence, a real hero. Won the MC and lost 40% of his brain from a head shot. The way he has picked himself up is incredible. It's a real honour to know him.

..some incredible stuff in that programme...the cock up disembarking in broad daylight with no air cover at bluff cove ..the porn films playing as the argie air strikes came in...then there was one lad who i think said he'd seen a lot in his service including the gulf war..but the falklands was by far and away the most horrific..literally at times hand to hand combat in the trenches..and i hope vets of today get more help if they need it than they did then..for some on the programme obviously still suffering everyday...

I helped carry some of those lads off the beaches after they came ashore from the Galahad and Tristram. It was sights and in particular smells that I can never forget. The fact that EST (Ewen Southby-Tailyour - look him up). almost begged them to get off only to be ignored though Guards snootiness. In truth the Welsh Guards had not been there during the first week after our landings so had not witnessed the destructive power of the RG Air Force added to their misplaced comfort. To that point they had never heard anything go bang or seen a single RG serviceman.

Yes it was brutal and mostly WW1 level of sophistication but in a perverse way it was fought honourably in the main. I’m glad I was there but I wish I hadn’t been.

Sometimes you go through some event in your life, which if you could have, you’d avoid like the plague….. but you do go through it and are the better for it… but at a cost to your emotions.

Article in the Doncaster Free Press says Pools are linked with forward Kieran Agard. 32 now but a player who has scored a lot of goals in Leagues 1 and 2. He spent the first half of last season on a short-term deal at Plymouth then signed for Rovers on an 18 month deal in January. It doesn't look to have worked out for him there so there could be something in this one?

Snowy, Poolie1 - how we feeling chaps?

Roll on roll off subs last night. Just over 2 weeks to go. Let’s hope whoever does come in, fits in straight away without a PH pre season under their belts.

We were told 6 by end of week, then hopefully something by end of weekend, now ‘hopefully 1, maybe 2’ by end of the week before Lincoln.

Now PH going down the quotes of previous managers.
We need good Loanies from the NE big 3.
Yep 2 weeks to go.
We certainly cutting it fine to put a promotion winning team together.
At this moment in time we looking like last seasons Scunny. :angry-tappingfoot:

Scratch first 11’s, featuring cameos up front for Crawford, Shelton. Ogle trialled in centre back. 0 cover in any position bar full back and goalkeeper.

2 weeks before go time…. Even those more optimistic of us on this board can’t be too excited by our readiness for the real thing.

Hartley knew what his budget was before he signed up so must have players in mind.

starting from scratch has not been a help. if had been with us last season he would have had players in mind to sign at the first opportunity they were available and possibly had verbally signed em for next season as well. just as hard for me as challinors recruitment was prior to the torquay game as he didn,t know which of his lists he could use. PH didn,t even have a list as far as pools are concerned.

Chilled  ……. I’m not like you lot pushing the women and children out of the way while heading for the lifeboats before the ships even cast off.
If I was as hyper as you I’d be online putting a rope in my basket and watch the screen pop up to say other goods you may be interested in…….a stool
I’ve never seen so much panic since Finetime Fontaine turned up in the Town End offering free ‘Hugs and Kisses’ vouchers to all takers.
Chill

You’ll be telling me to chill when it’s deadline day. Reminiscent to when Challinor says we’re in for 10+ forwards - one including Gime Toure - and we sign Eddie Nolan, a left back, from Stoke.

It may all work out in the end but this is pretty embarrassing prep for our second season in EFL. Period.

No, I am chilled. Just find yourself and Mr Poolie1 pretty amusing.

“I thought Reagan did well in there. He’s a good athlete. He’s a strong runner with the ball and has good pace. But we’re short in that area, especially with Muzza being out,” Hartley told The Mail.

“We’re playing full-backs and midfielders in the centre half area, but it’s needs must at the moment.”

AND playing midfielders as strikers at the minute. I’m a pools fan but fook me that’s hilarious and embarrassing in equal measure.

Raj said I have increased the budget and we are going for the play offs, get real for goodness sake . WHERE are the players you are the man Supposedly yet since you have taken over you have done the same each season and not given the manager a chance. Dave Challoner left because of this and if you persist I am convinced Paul Hartley will go the same way. Get a grip man and stop hiding behind over people.

I said this before, Hartley was given promises of funds, if he walked he would have no problem finding employment elsewhere.

Raj must now stop all this stupidity and get us a decent manager and some decent players in. He has said the club is in the best financial situation for the last 15years,I would dispute that with the debts we have. Believe me word has gone around about the budget the manager's salary and the expectations of an interfering chairman . I do not think any one can defend his action or lack of over the past 4 weeks. Now it looks like another prospective manager has declined and is joining the QPRR coaching staff. Do something man!!"

NO, NO , NO, NO, Challinor never left because of that and you well know it. He left because a millionaire of his acquaintance came a courting and whisked him home to Stockport and funding most clubs in this division couldn’t match, so put it to bed and stop waving the shroud of Challinor to spook the nervous or just plain stupid.

My real problem is the way we are told one thing and these things do not happen. Yes DEC went for more money nearer home we received compensation yet he was still pilloried for leaving. Also if compensation was paid why did DC have yo sign a non disclosure as hjs wife spoke of. I have nothing against Raj personally and thank him for saving the club. It is the statements made about the budget and players coming in that does not happen remember as chairman he is ultimately responsible for all that goes on at the club good or bad.

He was deservedly pilloried for the way he went about it. If he had been open about it I can’t see anyone wishing him anything but all the best.
…. but realistically we like most other clubs don’t have Stockport’s massive financial backing, so much so all debts have been apparently written off.

Also if compensation was paid why did DC have yo sign a non disclosure as hjs wife spoke of.
You say ‘if’, so is it fact or not?
I have nothing against Raj personally and thank him for saving the club.
So it’s Thanks Raj now F%#@ off…. because that’s how it’s coming across.

What ? How can you or me possibly know the politics and finances behind this speculation. sctatchinghead .

Snowy watch the new switch of play number 18 with Craig Hignett especially pay attention to the last 15 minutes and note what both he and Micky Barron think of Raj and the way the club is being run.

Your obsession goes back way beyond a video recently released so what’s been driving you for the many months before this.
By the way, would that be the Craig Hignett who was got rid of by Raj……..? Mickey Barton, now when and how did he leave. sctatchinghead

We can slag Singh all we want, he bought the club, brought Challinor in and we got of the N.L.
He is not the multi millionaire people think he is, he is a businessman and will be counting every penny unfortunately that reflects on the budget.
Singh certainly didn’t buy Pools as an investment, I do some times wonder why he did after Darlington, it certainly wasn’t for asset stripping, there is nothing of any value at Pools which he could sell.
The story goes it allowed Singh to develop the Care Home at Bishop Cuthbert, a big gamble to take to buy a loss making football club possibly but there has been for years talk about the Mill House Master plan which has been ongoing for years.

I've always thought he bought Pools for redemption after the darlo saga. If you remember he did try and reinvest in darlo at one point but their fans rejected it.

Is anybody surprised that 2 weeks before the season we are nowhere near ready? We will get a couple of kids on loan like we did last season. Let's hope one is like burey.

unless the club are in talks with a few i hope we do not get into a situation of PH taking up other peoples recommendations of what is left in the english game. his own knowledge about them is bound to be limited after spending all these years in the scottish game. an english manager no matter what success he has had down here would find it hard going up there with only a decent budget and not a bottomless one. will our new computer man earn his corn or not. time will shortly tell.

We will be in talks with loads, but if your not willing to pay the going rate you will always get the scraps. I'm still waiting for all these exciting signings we were promised.
