The hard facts are that pretty much every club in the EFL right now could publish a return to pre-season image of their SQUAD. We couldn't, as we couldn't currently field a team to play a match. This isn't a criticism of the management team or the owner, just an observation that I'm sure they have under full control.

A number of clubs across the league have also employed new management teams.

It's not about panicking - it's just when you're retrospectively complaining that you can't get a completely new squad to gel in 3 weeks, you're probably gonna reference that we were late off the starting line when we're struggling to get results.

I keep saying it, League 2 this year is not the League 2 of last year. Standards are set to rise markedly.

...with respect.. focusing your "analysis" on the lack of a SQUAD photo at this stage is just ridiculous...check out how many players daryl clarke got rid of last year when he came in at port vale..15...getting rid of "deadwood" is a necessary start to building a new team..this is not rocket science...and tbh there is plenty more deadwood in that retained list left by the bonehead...it needs whittling down even more so we can bring better in... and i suspect quite a few will be going out on loan next season..

I think you're misunderstanding what i'm saying. It's not to do with a squad photo. I am analysing what is in front of me that we've just turned up for pre season training without a team of footballers that could take part in a match. I hope the club smash it out the park, the recruitment is fantastic, the players gel into an exciting formation and we hit the ground running come the opening match.

To add to that fact, we now need to find near 20 additional goals in our squad for next season. Molyneux leaves.... but to a club in the same division as the one he is in currently?

snowy and Poolie 1, There you both go again anyone with views differing from yourselves is called all manner of names and subjects from last season are brought up again and again. I am not a prophet of doom and would dearly love Pools to do well. However i will continue to point out if I feel matters are being done wrongly or not at all. Despite what you say I will not reveal my club source for any information except to say it is a strong connection. My comment about Paul Hartley was meant as you have appointed him now let him do his job.

i may have shot from the hip with those comments - looking at it like that yes you are right... had Pools brought in 2 ex NL players (as we did last season and not all but one are gone) we would have been annoyed. Plus our keeper has pedigree and comes recommended - that big Czech fella had Vale fans glad he was leaving so that speaks for itself.

Definitely think a few fans are panicking a bit early! There is still loads of time to get players in and we will, it's not like this is our squad for the season. Crawley have a new manager and have signed one player so it's not just pools. Hartley needs time to learn off people about players we already have and what we need, these things take a bit of time. There will be players lined up. I wouldn't have any of the lads Carlisle or barrow have signed either.

TBH the biggest moaners are the Pools Facebook supporters groups, always stating there is a problem and stoking up the fire. I assume these are the younger elements of Pools supporters.

the younger fan base are sometimes disillusioned to how transfers in smaller clubs work - they all more than likely follow a prem team - who make 3/4 big signings as soon as the window opens - even that tbh isnt the way of the modern game anymore but what i mean is they expect too much too soon.... as ill admit i did.. new manager ... bigger budget .. should have 3 in by now (not so far away either). We are also battling it out with other clubs in this league with smaller budgets for the best players - i imagine it becomes a ballache bidding war with some clubs and its down to a few hundred quid difference in wages.

Like stated PH has to know what hes working with on the field - what the team he has inherited actually looks and plays like - him and GY are more than capable id say of getting us out of this league say in 2 years time - i trust the slow process now - its evident that hes here to build a team - build a culture and get the club back to being a fully fit pro league club (as Mr Hobin is successfully doing behind the scenes). His arrivals may not get us success this year but id imagine in a years time we have 3/4 gems hes gotten us and add maybe another 3/4 we have a promotion winning side in the making ! Just hope we finish above mid table this year and aint looking over our shoulders come new years fixtures

Journo’s, like everyone else outside this town (and even inside it) have been underrating and slagging off Pools as whipping boys and a joke club since before dinosaurs roamed the Vic, so when it comes to taking the blinkers off, I find it best to tighten them up where journo’s and bookies are because if we took their advice we might as well all give up now and turn the Vic into a Sainsbury’s.

After all the years all the years I spent going to Pools getting my kids to go, you tend not to expect too much. The IOR years were a blip on the pattern as was Gibson’s period which got us promoted and knocked Palace out of the Cup, but that aside it was a cross between survival and hope that never was answered.
I suppose it then gave you more of a resigned viewpoint of looking for good performances and runs of form to compensate for not being the promotion contenders , but you always travelled in hope. So I think I substituted hope for Pools rather than demands which have the same objective, but different approaches to success.
